The Chaos Queen

Ham and Some Cheese

Kurei was fast asleep in his bed. He could feel someone tapping him on the forehead. He slowly opened his eyes. At the foot of his bed stood Recca, with his cocky smile, his cap, in his school clothes. Kurei glared at him, produced his flame and burned him.

"OH MY GOD! GET THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER!" Kaosu yelled.

"Got it right here!" Kotohonou said as she put out the fire. "I’m glad you thought to bring one!" Kotohonou sighed.

"I knew this was a bad idea." Kaosu said as she looked at the pile of ashes, "Poor Yanagi, she worked so hard making that card board cut out of Recca." Kaosu sighed.

Kurei got up out of bed, yawned and stretched. Kotohonou was taking a picture of the ashes.

"Why are you taking pictures of ashes?" Kaosu asked.

"To remind myself to never get Kurei as mad as Recca has." Kotohonou said.

"Good idea. I’ll make a mental note of that." Kaosu said.

"So, what are we doing today?" Kurei asked as he was getting changed in the bathroom.

"Well, first we are going to give Fake Recca a proper burial." Kotohonou said as she helped Kaosu sweep the ashes into the dustpan.

"Sounds good to me." Kurei said, he was in a good mood today. Seeing Recca burn made him feel warm and tingly inside.

Kotohonou threw the ashes into the trashcan and gave a silent prayer.

"Now what do we do?" Kurei asked.

"You can go down stairs and cook us some breakfeast." Kaosu said. She sighed, what a way to wake up in the morning.

They went downstairs and Kurei made pancakes, he was such in a good mood that he didn’t mind cooking.

"Hey, Kurei, I have a question." Kotohonou asked.

"Yes." He said.

"Well, when you dream, have you ever burned anything in your sleep?" Kotohonou asked.

"It has never happened before." Kurei said.

"I’m glad to hear that!" Kaosu said, "We would be in big trouble if you decided to burn the house down in your sleep."

"Oh, I got a new fighting game for us to try out!" Kotohonou said.

"And I bet you used my money." Kurei said.

"Of course!" Kotohonou said.

After breakfeast they all went to the living room and started to play the new game. Kurei only played against Kotohonou. He getting pretty good, he wasn’t loosing as easily as before.

"Oh, yeah! Look at that!" Kurei said, "I beat you! In your face!"

"Ok, Kurei, calm down." Kaosu said, "You’re acting different, really different."

"I am?" Kurei asked.

"Yes." Kaosu said than glared at him, "Alright, who are you and what did you do to Kurei?"

"Man, maybe we should get more ‘Fake Reccas’?" Kotohonou said.

"Maybe." Kurei said.

Kurei and Kotohonou played some more and they were about even.

"What’s the score?" Kotohonou asked.

"Hmmm…let’s see…Kurei: 11, Kotohonou: 11!" Kaosu said.

"I want to play you now." Kurei said to Kaosu.

"I don’t know, aren’t you getting tired of this game, you’ve played 22 games. I’m a little hungry, want some lunch?" Kaosu said.

"Oh, I see, you’re just scared of being defeated by me. That’s understandable." Kurei smiled.

"Fine." Kaosu said as she took Kotohonou’s controller.

Five minutes passed and Kaosu won.

"Well, at least I lasted longer." Kurei said.

"Ok, I’m going to make some turkey sandwiches, is that ok with everyone?" Kaosu said as she got up.

"That’s fine." Kurei and Kotohonou said.

"Are you sure? I think there might be some ham or something." Kaosu said.

"No, it’s good." Kotohonou said.

Kaosu walked out the door. Kotohonou noticed that Kurei watched her leave.

"You like her don’t you?" Kotohonou whispered and smiled.

"What?" Kurei said.

"You LIKE her don’t you?" Kotohonou said with a grin.

"I…" Kurei turned red and thought.

"You DO don’t you!" Kotohonou whispered.

"…I…I…" was all that Kurei could say. "Is it possible, that this feeling I have could be…" Kurei thought.

Kotohonou’s face lit up. "Kurei likes Hana-sama!" she yelled.

"What was that?" Came a voice from the kitchen, "Did someone call me?" Kaosu walked back into the living room.

Kurei’s face was in horror, he didn’t want her to know his feelings for her, at least not yet.

"Kurei likes…" Kotohonou began, but than looked at Kurei who was giving her a face that said, ‘tell her and die’, "Kurei likes…"

"Yes?" Kaosu asked.

"Kurei likes…ham… and some…uh…" Kotohonou said.

"Cheese!" Kurei finished her sentence.

"Ok, I can do that. Speak up next time Kurei." Kaosu said as she left.

"Yeah, speak up next time!" Kotohonou said. She smiled at Kurei and said, "YAY! ‘The plan’ worked!"

"The plan?" Kurei asked.

"Oops…I mean…the tan! She tried one of those tanning creams, you know, and look it worked!" Kotohonou said.

"No, you said ‘the plan’. What is this ‘plan’?" Kurei asked.

"Well, it was basically…um…well…you see…" Kotohonou said.

"Kurei, I’m sorry. But the ham is green, very green. Is turkey ok?" Kaosu yelled from the kitchen.

"Yeah, it’s fine." Kurei yelled back. "Ok, now what is this ‘plan’?" Kurei whispered.

"Well…" Kotohonou began, she didn’t really want to tell him ‘the plan’ because that wasn’t part of it.

"Lunch is ready!" Kaosu yelled.

"Yay! Saved by the yell!" Kotohonou said as she sprinted down the hall.

At the dinning table…

"Hey, I always wondered, is it green eggs and green ham, or is it green eggs and just ham?" Kotohonou asked.

"What?" Kurei asked.

"You know, from Dr. Suess’s book, Green Eggs and Ham." Kotohonou said.

"I think it’s just green eggs and regular ham. Believe me, green ham doesn’t look so good to eat." Kaosu said.

"Well, I’ll do the dishes and leave you two here, ALONE, so you can talk about whatever you two want." Kotohonou said as she picked up the dishes.

"Um…’k. Thanks." Kaosu said. Kotohonou went into the kitchen. "So Kurei, what do you want to talk about?" Kaosu asked.

"I honestly don’t know." Kurei calmly said. No, that was a lie. He knew exactly what he wanted to say; he just couldn’t say it. "Ok, say. Just say it." He thought.

Kaosu looked around the room.

"I’m going up stairs to work out." Kurei said. He felt too tense being around her. He knew what he wanted to say; he just didn’t know how to say it. He just needed some time to think.

Up stairs…

Kurei was doing some bench presses. He had taken off his robe so that it wouldn’t get all sweaty. He was doing his second set when Kaosu came in.

"Wow! 135 pounds on each side! Good job!" Kaosu said as she sat down on one of the benches. "How many reps. and sets are you doing?"

"5 sets with 20 reps." Kurei said.

"Here, let me try!" Kaosu said.

"I don’t think you can do this many weights." Kurei said.

"Oh really? Well, let me try anyway." Kaosu said. Kurei got up from the bench. Kaosu lay down on the bench and did some bench presses; she didn’t even break a sweat.

"There. See, I did it." Kaosu said as she stuck out her tongue.

Kurei shook his head and smiled, "No, I saw you, you cheated."

"Cheated? Mio?" Kaosu said as she placed her hand on her chest.

"I saw you. You weren’t even touching the bar, well, your hands were very close to the bar, but I still saw it, you were using your wind power, weren’t you?" He smiled at her. "She’s very clever." He thought.

She opened her mouth as if to protest, but instead stopped and smiled. "I still didn’t cheat."

Kurei laughed, "Yes you did! You didn’t even lift the bar with your bare hands!"

"You never said I couldn’t." Kaosu said, "Besides, you’re just jealous!"

"Jealous? Of what?" Kurei sarcastically asked.

"Well…that’s for me to know and you to find out. So…HA!" Kaosu smiled.

Kurei smiled. "She always seems to make me smile." He thought.

"Anyway, I’ll be in the backyard, if you need me." Kaosu said as she turned and walked out the door. As she left Kotohonou came into the room.

"Yo! Kurei, smile for the camera!" Kotohonou said as she took a picture, "I think I’ll call this ‘Kurei in the Buff’. Now, time to put this on the Internet!" She said.

Kurei remembered he wasn’t wearing his robe. "Give me the camera!" Kurei said.

"No." Kotohonou replied.

"I said, give me the camera!"

"And I said, no."

Kurei walked towards her. Kotohonou decided this was the perfect time to see if she could out run him and so she ran.

"GIVE ME THE CAMERA!" Kurei yelled as he ran after her.

"AAAAAHHHHH!" Kotohonou said as she ran down the stairs.

"Just give me the camera!"

"No! You’ll break it!"

"No, I’ll just…give me the camera!"

"NOOOOO!" Kotohonou said as she ran into the backyard.

Kaosu was sitting on chair reading a book. She put her book down and sighed. There they were, Kurei and Kotohonou, they were at it again. Last time, it was about who was stronger, well, this time she wasn’t going to interfere.

Kurei was chasing Kotohonou around the yard.

"Those two have so much stamina, it’s almost scary." Kaosu thought as she got up to go to the front yard, there, she might get the peace and quite she needed.
