The Training: Part I

Kurei was having the most wonderful dream. He was fighting Recca and actually winning. Just as he was about to finish him off when all of a sudden Kaosu and Kotohonou jumped on his bed.

"Wake up sleepyhead, time to start your training!" Kotohonou said with a large grin on her face.

"Ahhh!" Kurei scream as he jumped out of his bed. He noticed that both Kaosu and Kotohonou were wearing one of his red robes.

"Why are you wearing my clothes!" Kurei demanded to know.

"The question is," Replied Kaosu, "why aren’t you?"

"Nice boxers, Kurei!" Kotohonou said as she giggled.

Kurei just realized that all he was hearing were a pair of boxers and a T-shirt.

"Been workin’ out? Eh? I didn’t know you had muscles, Kurei! I guess these robes hide that." Kaosu said as she nudged Kurei with her elbow.

"AHHH!! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" Kurei yelled.

"Yeah, yeah." Kaosu said as she took of Kurei’s robe and threw it at him. She was wearing shorts and a shirt that had the words, "Da Master" on it.

"This absolutely doesn’t do a thing for my figure." Kotohonou said as she too took of the robe and threw it at Kurei. She was wearing black pants with flames at the side and a shirt that said, "Da Minion and proud of it!"

Kaosu and Kotohonou left to let Kurei get changed and waited for him in the kitchen while they had breakfast. Kurei came down, dressed and with a sour look on his face.

"You two shouldn’t be coming into my room like that. I could have been naked for all you know. I need my privacy." Kurei said. He thought that was a pretty good argument and that he couldn’t possibly lose.

"Cheerios?" Asked Kotohonou as she held up a box of "Cheerios".

"What?" asked Kurei. "Did they not hear me?" he thought.

"Cheerios, for breakfast. Do you want any?" asked Kotohonou all the time wondering if Kurei heard her.

"Oh, um, no thanks." Kurei said as he sat down at the table. He had a confused look on his face.

"You should eat something," said Kaosu as she gave him a bowl of "Cheerios", "We’re training today and you need your strength.

Kurei ate the "Cheerios" because he didn’t know what else to do. For some reason these women were on a different plane than he was and communicating with them wasn’t working. "It’s all just a dream. It’s all just a dream. It’s all just a…really bad dream." Kurei thought to himself.

"Alright Kurei," Kaosu said, "let’s start your training!"

They went into the back yard and sat under a tree. "Now," Kaosu said, "to truly become powerful you must face your fears, but first we must know what your greatest fear is. So now it’s time to meditate!"

"YAY!" cried Kotohonou as she clapped her hands.

"Meditation?" Kurei asked.

"Yep, now sit down and relax." Kaosu ordered.

Kurei sat down and closed his eyes.

"Now, you mustn’t pay attention to the outside world. Once the outside world disappears you can explore your world. Got that?" Kaosu asked.

"Yes." Said Kurei.

SMACK

"OW! What was that for?" Kurei said as he rubbed the back of his head.

"You’re not concentrating." Kaosu said.

Kurei closed his eyes and began again. He felt pebbles being thrown at his forehead, but knew better than to protest. He tried not to notice the pebbles and he tried to think of something else. He then felt nothing. He felt weightless. Than he saw himself being engulfed in purple flames, his flame. They were surrounding him and burning him into ashes. Kurei woke up. His hands were sweating and he was panting.

"So," Kotohonou said, "What cha’ see?"

"I was being burned alive by my own power." Kurei said.

Kotohonou and Kaosu nodded at each other. "What you are afraid of," Kaosu began, "is your potential. You have not fully used you flame. You are afraid of what will happen if you do. Don’t worry. We’ll help you get past it. Actually, this fear is quite typical."

"It is?" asked Kurei, "Did you have the same fear?"

"Well, no." replied Kaosu.

"Well then," Kurei said, "what are your fears." He looked at each of them hoping they would respond.

"Well," began Kotohonou, "my fear was death. Well, I mean, the pain of dying. Just because we are immortal doesn’t mean we don’t feel pain. And, well, I don’t like pain, but Kaosu helped me to get over it."

"And yours?" Kurei asked as her turned to Kaosu.

"I’m going inside to set up the second part of your training." Kaosu said as she turned and walked into the house.

"She doesn’t like to talk about herself, personally that is." Kotohonou said to Kurei.

"Well, what is her fear?" He asked.

"It’s different from ours." Kotohonou began, "Frankly, she hasn’t conquered it at all. Of course, how could she? It never happened to her before until recently."

"Well, what IS it?" Kurei asked inquisitively.

"Well, the reason why she has her power is because she had a purpose. And that purpose was to create a balance between so called ‘good’ and so called ‘evil’. She senses what needs to be done and in the last 50 years she hasn’t sensed anything, except for giving you eternal life. Well, how should I put this, her fear is what would happen when she’s not needed any more, more like, what would she do? Now, it’s coming true."

"Why?" asked Kurei, he was becoming more interested in the whole ‘Kaosu Story’.

"I think its technology." Kaosu said.

Kurei and Kotohonou turned red, they didn’t expect her to ‘appear’ like that.

"Anyway, if I could interrupt this conversation, the next part of your training is ready Kurei.
