msoe.dll
Getting Rid of the   msoe.dll  - can't load Outlook Express - message on Windows 2000

On a Windows 2000 computer, if your Outlook Express version is older than version 6.00.2800.1106, (yes,
even if you have version 6.00.2800.1105 we presume, since that was our flavor of OE version 6), then
you may have some success with this separate Outlook Express only installer file.

If you have the msoe.dll problem on Windows 2000 and the download at the above link ends up telling you that
you already have a newer Outlook Express version, then you have to do the repair of Outlook Express
by using the installer package for Internet Explorer v6. (below)
That installer includes Outlook Express v6 and does the trick of overwriting the msoe.dll file of your
existing Outlook Express installation.

The installer will present an option to bypass the full installation. Take care to read the options.
Following the installation, opening Outlook Express will restore your same desktop icon to opening OE.
No more msoe.dll error
and the best part...
All your email contacts and Internet Email Connections will be restored just as they were.

As always keep in mind the link is at Microsoft which means it could be relinked at any whim or drop of the hat.
Sorry if it tosses you into one of the many mazes of MS doublespeak links.
