The FAN CLUBHISTORY & NEWS
THE FAN CLUB started on saturday 6th May 2000 with DEAD AMERICA opening the live set, followed by INCH BLUE & the ever excellent RUBICKS. It was a very busy night- thanks again to everyone who turned up- and we were given a residency on the 1st sat. of each month.

At the time, our main Dj was CORNEL, but he had to leave at the end of the year, due to commitment to his own project, a (then weekly) night called LIPGLOSS. Hostess/DJ apprentice/promoter VAL had to carry on by herself and recruited DEAD AMERICA's (since renamed THE STRINGS) drummer and keyboardist PAUL & ANDY, for their impeccable taste and vast knowledge in pop music, and also, 'cause they are the coolest people on earth!

September 2001, enter GRANT, promoter extraordinaire who completes the line up behind the decks and injects new life into the Fan Club. GRANT has now left to pursue his own interests(mainly Fun city and The Rabbit Hole), so it's all down to Val from now on who will  bring you more great bands and sexy tunes...

Gorgeous electropop outfit RIVIERA have taken a residency @ the Fan Club for 2002 and will be performing live every month as from January! The reason? Well, apart from us believing they're going places, they also happen to be a perfect reflection of our music tendencies and will make the ideal face for the club. So all comments, love letters, etc ...should be send to riviera@hotmail.com , ok?

Well, this was written about a year ago, and it's proven quite ominous both for the band themselves and THE FAN CLUB.
It's been a great collaboration and it was with tears in our eyes that we bod farewell to RIVIERA in December as their residency ended, and they played their last gig (for a while anyway) @ THE FAN CLUB to a packed audience.

They're now working on new projects and all we can reveal is that we know they're about to fulfill a lot of their promises of 2002, so watch this space!

Now  as 2003 begins, we're proud to introduce our new resident band
ROMEO TRADING CO,  in many ways very different to RIVIERA but sharing with them a love of style, glamour and 80's music, as well as a fondness for The Fan Club itself. And they look great, obviously!
