Pro-prostitution speech stirs local college
BOISE, Idaho--Joe Szymanski has the whole campus of Boise State University talking after giving a speech on legalizing prostitution in his persuasion and debate class Thursday.  Szymanski, 19 offended some of his classmates with his speech.

He is studying Business communication.

"I don't know why everyone is so shocked," Szymanski said.  "I don't see anything wrong with it, prostitution has been around for years.  Why does everyone have to be so suburban?"

Szymanski came up with the idea after all his classmates took "all the good" topics.  He did the speech for the fact that he wanted his speech to be different.

"I worked hard on that speech," he said.  "I researched pros and cons, I also got examples to prove my point.  All I'm saying is that I better get an A on this or else."

His professor and classmates were stunned when Szymanski announced that he had a prostitute as a guest speaker for the latter portion of his speech.

"I can't believe Joe did that," Laura Kortes, a classmate said.  "That was so ridiculous how Sandy wanted to be called a 'female escort' instead of 'hooker' or 'whore'.  She sleeps with men for money.  Give me a break."

"Man, I don't care what anyone else says, Joe's speech kicked ass," Jack Lilliston, another classmate said.  "Prostitution rocks!  I also hope they legalize marijuana soon too.  That would be the shit."

As a result of the talks, Szymanski's speech is being reviewed by Jan Masterson, head of the communications department and other board members for creditability and possibly a full credit grade for his speech.

"You have to look at everything," Masterson said.  "He did a lot of work on this.  I didn't see Laura bring in anyone who had an abortion.  His speech lends more creditability in that sense."
