MOVIE REVIEW

Friday Night Lights

While I haven't yet seen this movie I am hoping to go this next week. Focus on the Family in their November 2004 issue of Plugged In has a good review. Here are a couple of their highlights.
"In most communities, high school football is a sport. In others it's a religion. Based on a true story, Friday Night Lights (PG-13) shows what can happen when an entire town lives vicariously through its latest crop of young atheltes. . . . . . ."
"Beyond its clarion call to put youth sports back in perspective, Friday Night Lights does have good points to make about humilty and teamwork. . . . ."

I hope that this movie will help all of us to take a step back and reflect on the role of High School Sports in our society.

MUSIC REVIEW by Dan Curnutt

******ARRIVING******

This new CD by Chris Tomlin is absoultely fantastic. Many of the new songs on this CD were songs that Chris introduced at Challenge 2004 in Salt Lake City this past summer.

My all time favorite on this CD is the very first song, "Indescribable". It's an amazing song that totally wraps up good theology, great reminders of God's awesome power and a catchy lyric that you will find yourself singing all day long.

You might remember Chris telling us about this song. It is written by a young lady named, Laura Story. Chris' agent called him and told him he had a song that he wanted Chris to hear. When the song came, Chris listened to it and immediately knew that this was a song that he had to sing, it was a song that had been on his heart for a couple of years but he didn't know how to express it. (Chris also humourously told us that he was not happy that a girl had written such a fantastic song.)

But all things aside, Chris does a great job with this song, he has high regard for it's composer and I agree with him when we both say, "we can't wait for Laura to write more music."

The rest of the CD is also awesome. You will want to add this CD to your collection. You will agree with me after hearing the whole CD that it was the best $15.00 you have spent in the last month.
