THE “FUR ANGELS”

Mission Statement

THE “FUR ANGELS” are a Christian oriented, non-profit organization, solely comprised of volunteers offering compassion, more specifically, unconditional love, through pet therapy, training our own personal dogs to succeed in this mission. Our high standards require all dogs to be evaluated and temperament tested, as well as pass specific tests know as Canine Good Citizenship (C.G.C) or a Therapy Dog certification before they can become a “Fur Angel” and earn their wings.

Our group was formed in the fall of 1998 with only a hand-full of caring people. Today, we can proudly say we have grown considerably, enabling us to extend our pet therapy to more facilities and a wider range of programs such as, visiting numerous hospice centers, nursing homes, hospitals, and conducting educational demonstrations on a regular basis. In addition, we are proud of our new motivational school reading program, “Reading with the Angels”.

We, THE “FUR ANGELS”, have a common goal and take pride in our motto-“Unconditional Love”- for that is exactly what we are all about, bringing unconditional love to those who are in need.

We have seen our “Fur Angels” bring light to dim eyes, smiles to a sad, lonely face, tears of joy from the simple act of a dog’s kiss placed gently on a cheek, and joyful laughter at the silly antics of our “Fur Angels”. The unconditional love received from our dogs has also caused blood pressure to decrease and hypertension to diminish. These are just a few of the benefits of pet therapy, which enhances the quality of life through the human/animal bond.

THE “FUR ANGELS” also provide registration, support and insurance for members involved in pet therapy. Our objective is to form a network of caring individuals willing to share their special animals- in turn bringing happiness and cheer to people of all ages.
