? One of the things I love most about Tolkien is his use of songs and poems in the Lord of the Rings. Hardly any of them are featured in the movie so many people have missed out on them. I have collected all these verses on this page. I’ve added some bits from the text if I particularly like them.

? These verses are pretty much in the order they appear in the book. Page numbers can be found by looking in the Index of songs and verses at the back of The Return of the King.

The book, The Road Goes Ever On and On by Donald Swan which has recently been republished contains his tunes to several of the songs from the Lord of the Rings together with songs from elsewhere in Tolkien’s work. It contains music for piano and voice, a free cd plus notations of elvish text by Tolkien unavailable anywhere else. I highly recomend it!
