Memory is a strange thing.
It is easy to recount what happened in the last episode of Eastenders,
But when it comes to Latin verbs during the most important exam of your life,
'Amo, amas, am . . . ivi?'

Memory is a strange thing.
When packing your schoolbag,
Why do you remember to put in the CD for your friend,
But completely forget about the math homework you were meant to hand in a week ago?

Memory is a strange thing.
How much of what you saw today will you remember in five years time?
When you are twenty years older,
How much of what you did this year will still be be in your memory?
And on the day of your funeral,
Will some long-lost friend recall what you ate at that dinner party last month?

Memory is a strange thing.
Will you remember this poem?
