The Queen Reviews Harry Potter Movie The First |
Ah, the joys of babysitting. :) Just let me say, that I still am not overly fond of the book and movie in general. But. DAMN is Sean Biggerstaff hot!! Pictures do *not* do him justice! And the VOICE. There is *something* in the water in Glasgow, I'm telling you. Billy, Sean, Stewart (The BMG!! Go Stew!!)...Wowee!! I'll do the play by play of Sean's scenes, then random observations I observed. (Duh...) The first big scene with Sean's character, Oliver Wood, is when Oliver is explaining Quidditch to Harry. One of the high points of this scene is a little line of Oliver's. "The keeper--that's me--defends the hoops." Now. The line itself isn't anything special (the words...the accent is *always* special...), but it's the facial expressions and body language...(Freudian slip there...before I typed 'body', I typed 'boyd' by mistake. Hehehe...) When he says "--that's me--", he does this little grin and eyebrow quirk thing, and it is a GOOD THING!! ::dies:: And I am LOVING that sweater he's wearing! It is SO AWESOME! And *cough* it shows off his shoulders *quite* nicely...love the pants and boots too...all in all, Oliver's a well dressed dude! I love the posessed quidditch ball. A bludger? There are some great lines involving that ball... "Careful now, it's coming back." "Huh. Not bad, Potter. You'd make a fair beater." That voice...love how he says 'Potter'... The next high point is when Oliver fights with the posessed ball. He shows his strength and agility in subduing the Ball From Hell while writhing on the ground. *cough NICE ASS cough* <gggg> And Oliver actually talks like a normal person! "Bludger. Nastly little buggers." (No one can say the word 'bugger' quite like a Scot...) "It's wicked fast and damn near impossible to see." I love it when characters actually talk like your average person... The next scene is the quidditch game. (Which, BTW, was pretty cool. I'm bending as far as I can here...) I'm loving the robes and the broom on him. Really! They look hot on him! And I love the determined stride. ::We are going to kick some Slytherine ASS!!:: And our Oliver is a bit of a cheeky boy! (You're cheeky! No, you're cheeky! You're so cheeky! No, you're so cheeky! Hehe...Dom and Billy interview...) He asks if Harry is nervous about his first game, then tells him he felt the same way the day of his first game. When Harry asks how it went, he says he doesn't remember because he took a bludger in the head two minutes in and woke up in the hospital 2 weeks later. ::snicker:: The look on that child's face... And it was really cool when he took off on his broom. :) THE highlight of Sean's scenes is when he makes this really kick ass save. (He's the keeper...basically the goalie...) He looks at the opposing player and gives him this 'too bad so sad' look, with a little smirk and an eyebrow raise... ::the Queen DIES:: This is SO SEXY!! It cannot be explained! The eyebrow raise is Sean's little quirk think, I think, like Jamie's nose scrunch, Dom's tongue in right cheek, and Elijah's double eyebrow raise... Squee to the nth degree, people... And it's nice to see that girls kick some ass in the game too... Our last Oliver scene (NOOO!!) is when he makes a second save. The dude on the opposing team has a hissy fit and sends a ball at him at light speed, which hits him in the stomache and sends him falling to the ground. ::SPLAT:: My poor darling!! Come here, Oliver dear, we'll take care of you!! Now, onto my random drabble! That accent is BEYOND WORDS. 'Nuff said. Interestinly enough, it's not as thick as Billy's, but it's the same one! ::fangirlish squealing:: I will *die* if I see another ad on TV for that stupid ABBA musical Mamma Mia. AUGGHHHHHHHHH!! ABBA=EVIL *cough* Sorry. He has really nice eyes. Tres expressive. Tres wonderful! And, he talks with his hands. Which I find just wonderful. And, he has really smooth skin. Yes, I'm weird. I love Dom's hands, Billy's nose, and Sean's smooth skin. (I also love other body parts of Dom's, y'know, a certain Hetty epis--::SLAP:: That's enough there, Sarah. ::glares at Lady Rachel::) Mme Hooch, the quidditch teacher, is played by the actress who plays the mother (and Robert Lindsay's wife) in My Family. All together now! It's a small British acting world after all... I want more Oliver!! But I'm told that the third book is his last appearance!! NOOOOOO!! What I want to know is if Billy knows Sean. That would be too freaking cool. Also, I want to know if he and Dom have ever gotten together to talk about their badger love. There are support groups for that kind of thing...kleiner liebesdachs... The kids I babysit now think I'm insane because I squealed, yes *squealed*, when Oliver came on. ::sigh:: In the extra scenes after the movie, you can see Oliver a bit in the second one. Just in case you wanted to know. :) Is it just me, or do the seekers sit there and do NOTHING for practically the whole game?? I liked Hermoine at the end. When she showed signs of being, y'know, human. Ron and Hermoine are meant to be. Just, yes. And the chess game was cool. LOTR cave troll is better than HP troll! ::sticking out tongue:: Y'know, I liked Snape from the beginning. He's cool. :) Speaking of cool, Hagrad is cool. He's so cute!! Those red headed twin brothers of Ron's--are they the peeps you got a e-mail back from, Susie? We need more people in this world with Glaswegan accents. So says me. The unicorn slaying was so sad...::sniffle:: When Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) is older, I think he'll be quite the heart throb. The whole pale skin, big eyed thing. (Like two other actors we know...*cough ELIJAH TERENCE cough*...) But first, he has to leave that whole jailbait stage... Ron Weasley Rocks. :) The little British child actor voices weren't *quite* as annoying as I thought. ::shudder:: Memories of Voyage of the Dawn Treader... So, to sum up. Oliver Wood is a quirky smartass who is SO FREAKING HOT. Scottish hobbits and wizards rule. And, I think that I'm going to appoint Mr. Sean Biggerstaff as the Queen's *personal* Quidditch Coach. <VEG> |
