"Gondor has no king. Gondor NEEDS no king!"

A tribute and requiem for...
Boromir is the only member of the Fellowship that didn't survive the quest to destroy the ring. His humanity was his downfall, and because of that he is the one of the nine that we can most identify with. All he wants to do is defeat the Dark Lord and ensure the freedom of his homeland, Gondor. He cannot understand the concept that the only one that can defeat Sauron, is a mere Hobbit. a Halfling.
He in turn tries to take the ring from Frodo, causing the Hobbit to flee from the rest of the Fellowship. Boromir comes to his senses and deeply regrets what he has done. He redeems himself by giving his life to protect Merry and Pippin.

"Through Rohan over fen and field where the long grass grows
The West Wind comes walking, and about the walls it goes
'What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring me
  tonight?
Have you seen Boromir the Tall by moon or by star-light?'
'I saw him ride over seven streams, over waters wide and grey;
I saw him walk in empty lands, until he passed away
Into the shadows of the North. I saw him then no more.
The Norh Wind may have heard the horn of the son of Denethor.'
'O Boromir! From the high walls westward I looked afar,
But you came not from the empty lands where no men are...'"
