Profile: Jason King

1989 – April 1995 Beacon Radio : I initially started out at Beacon as a tea boy then moved onto tech opping & then got my first chance to do a show at very short notice, as the regular overnight guy was ill.  Then followed Sunday breakfast on Beacon & after that 9 months doing weekday overnights before moving to WABC to do the drive time show with Mike Wyre on breakfast (now at Saga 106.6 East Mids).

April 1995 – September 1997 Fox FM: What can I say about Fox FM apart from it was my dream station (at the time) to work for.  Pony Road provided a very happy 18 months.  I did the drive time show there from 2pm – 6.30pm & a weekend show and it was the first time I came across both Danny Cox & Neil Kefford (now at Leicester Sound).

September 1997 – September 1998 B97 Chiltern FM: Bedford provided my first full time breakfast gig & Goldington Road proved to an interesting place to work.

September 1998 – September 2000 BFBS Germany: BFBS Germany (www.bfbs.com) was my home for two years living and working in the small town of Herford. My first shift was the Drive time show from 4pm – 7pm with a lot of tricky German place names to deal with!  I also did a 3 month detachment with BFBS in Kosovo as part of a two man team, which involved one week on breakfast and then one week on the tea time show.  In Early 2000 I took over the breakfast show before heading back to the UK & 106 Century FM.

September 18th 2000 – To Date 106 Century FM: I originally joined 106 Century FM to present the weekday mid morning show from 10am – 1pm. I was part of the Capital re-launch team with Ian Skye, Steve Jordan, Paula White and Stuart Ellis.  After 18 months on mid mornings I moved to weekday afternoons from 2pm – 4pm & in September 2003 I took over the Drive time show proper when Stuart Ellis departed to become PC at Ocean FM.
