The Journey of Wulfgar, Archduke of Wessex: Wulfgar Destroys France |
||||||
In the land of the Angles, there was great unrest. The war with France had not progressed as they had hoped, for the three sons of Thnhurn who swore to defeat the French had failed. They had failed indeed, for Alice had spoken in kindess to a Frenchman and Wulfwolf took a bride from France. Wolfwulf was the only one who had managed to injure a Frenchman, yet failed to repay them for their treachery. King Thnhurn sat in the Grand Mead Hall and pondered on these things. Alice had yet to untie the knot which held an anvil tight to his quaint bossom. Wulfwolf had just returned from Sweden and was on his honeymoon, and Wolfwulf had a broken hand from his hitting of the Frenchman. He needed someone to fight the war with France and be successful, yet his most intelligent son, Mintfresh, was heartily distressed by the events and could not mount an attack on the Forgein Land. Suddenly, Thnhurn remembered Wulfgar, his son in whom he entrusted the Archdukery of Wessex. He sent for Wulfgar, and verily he came unto him. It was then that Wulfgar, the son in whom the most noblest blood ran, consented to mount a ravaging raid on the French. Wulfgar left his father's presence and tended his garden. When two months had passed, Wulfgar dropped his tiller and began making preparations for the battle. In six weeks he had assembled a great army of 9 warriors, the most loyal, bravest, and passed out men of the Grand Mead Hall. They set out for France at dawn of the next day. They reached France by mid-morn, and when they had run aground on the beach, they lept from the boats, and proceeded to steal all the cheese they could see. In a matter of two days and 3 hours, the band had desimated the French Cheese industry, causing an incredible uproar among the people, who enjoyed their daily cheese and wine. The French could not make it from one meal to the next without eating cheese and drinking their wine, so they all died. Wulfgar took the cheese and several chairs, and he went back to Wessex with his booty (and the cheese HAR HAR). The whole of Sussex, Essex, and Wessex were amazed at his ingenuity, but were disapointed to find he not found the Comode of Mintfresh which he had been looking for. And so, the sons of Thnhurn had their dignity restored to them, and the French were dead. Wulfgar was soon forgotten again, but rumor has it, that if you look hard at night in the bushes at London Town, you may see him, eating his cheese and chuckling. |
