Jake quickly put on something a little more appropriate but that still showed her woman-hood. “Hamilton, what if he kicks me out, I can’t leave you…” Jake said worriedly. “I won’t let him…I won’t lose you Jacque”. They walked through the school together, hand-in-hand to Hamilton’s father’s office. They entered together. “Please be seated, kids” the Dean said. “Dad, wait, before you do anything, let me explain…” Hamilton begged. “I would actually like to hear what Jake- uh - Jacqueline has to say”. Hamilton looked at Jake; it was up to her now. “Sir, My name is Jacqueline Pratt. I enrolled to your school under the name Jake. You see, my mother is an actress and a very busy woman. Even since my father died three years ago, she hasn’t been around for me, at all. I had switched schools a bunch of times before coming here and decided to add it up a notch. I figured I had to do something really drastic to get her attention. So, I disguised myself as a boy, assuming that she’d figure it out in a couple weeks and I’d be out of here before summer session was over. But, things didn’t exactly go as planned. She was too busy to even figure out how I was feeling or even that I was cross-dressing! This didn’t turn out to be so bad because I befriended your son [she turned and looked at him lovingly] and we became best friends” Jake paused. “Yes, so I’ve heard” the dean commented, he had been listening very intently. “Yeah, but than Hamilton figured out that I wasn’t who he thought I was and we fell in love. I have never felt this way about anyone, I feel so loved for the first time in my life and Hamilton is so amazing. With all do respect sir, I don’t think I’d be able to live without him, the past few months we’ve been together I have learned so much about love, life and myself. I love him, sir, and You just can’t ruin that” Jake finished as a tear slipped from her eye. Hamilton looked at his girlfriend in awe. He couldn’t believe she’d been so honest with his father. “Dad, please, don’t do anything you’ll regret, I’ll regret. I love her Dad, true love and I can’t lose her.” Finally, the Dean spoke. “Children, that is a very touching story and I am honestly happy for you that you have found each other at such a young age. However, that is Hamilton’s father talking, not the Dean of a respectable institution. I am appalled that I have been fooled for so many months; do you take me for some kind of idiot? Not only have you gone against about 35 rules but you have personally insulted myself and the entire board of trustees. I am sorry but I have no choice but to insist that you leave our school, as soon as possible. I am so sorry Hamilton, but you have left me with no other option”. Jake was crying. Hamilton was frozen. “Dad, you can’t do this to me, I LOVE HER.” “I’m sorry kids” the Dean said and he walked out of the office. Hamilton ran over to Jake and embraced her. “We tried Jake, I don’t know what else we can do” Hamilton said. Her tears mixed with his as they stood there, hugging for what seemed like forever. ……………………. Back in Jake’s room, when she had calmed down a little, she called Bella and told her everything, crying again. In the mean time, Hamilton went to go tell Scout and Will. When he came back Jake had her suitcase out and had already started packing. Hamilton went over to her closet and helped. As he folded her guy clothes he whispered, “I’m so sorry Jake”. “It’s not your fault” she answered and broke down again. Hamilton wrapped his arms around her frail, helpless body and hugged her. “we’ll think of something, I promise”. And they continued packing together until the wee hours of the morning. When they finally finished at 3 am they collapsed onto Jake’s bed and fell asleep in each other’s arms. In the morning, Jake called up Consuella and reluctantly told her she’d be coming home later that day. Hamilton decided to ditch classes and be with Jake as much as possible until she actually had to leave. After spending the morning snuggling and talking, they decided it was time to say good-byre to every one at Rawley. Jake put on a pair of tight fitting girl jeans and a Bella-ish tank top and stuck a clip in her hair. Hamilton dragged her suitcases for her. First, they went to the docks where the crew team was being pep-talked by Finn. She cleared her throat and said, “OK guys, I just wanted you all to know that I’ve had a really unbelievable time with all of you, so thanks, and I’ll never forget any of you. Finn, thanks for everything, really.” Jake had to turn around and leave because she was starting to cry again. Will and Scout got Finn’s permission to say good-bye to her and see her off. They trudged through the woods on the same path they had taken two nights before, only than, they were so carefree and happy. Will and Scout were at their side, pretty much speech-less. Jake’s bike was still at Bella’s, who was also coming to say goodbye to one of her best friends. ……………………. Bella came running out of the Gas station as they came into view. She through her arms around Jake and said, “I’m so sorry, Jake. I’m going to miss you sooooo much, thanks for being such an amazing friend, I love you!”. They hugged for a while and Jake finally spoke “No, Bella, thank you, you were like my savior during the times I just needed to be a girl and I’m never going to forget those times, I Love you too…I guess this was bound to happen some time”. Jake finished to everyone. “Damn Ryder” Scout said. “Yah, I second that” Will said. “Seriously, though” he continued, “We’re really gonna miss you around here Jake, You’ve been a really great friend and I’m just sorry I didn’t have longer to get to know the girl you” Scout nodded in agreement. Jake threw her arms around them. “I promise, guys, I’ll come back and visit and you’ll all definitely come see me in New York, right?” They all nodded. Finally, Jake looked at Hamilton with pain in her eyes. “We’ll get you back Jake, we have to” Hamilton assured her. Bella, Will and Scout, getting the idea they were no longer wanted stepped away. “No, Hamilton, I can’t do this, it’s too perfect, I can’t say good-bye” Jake said, trying so hard to hold back her tears. “Then don’t, cause it’s not good-bye, it’s ‘see you soon” Hamilton told her, starting to cry himself. “OK, see you soon, Munchie, I love you lots, don’t ever forget that” They embraced and kissed with enough emotion to last a lifetime. He took her hand and they joined the others, making their way towards her bike. Once again, she hugged everyone, especially Bella. She turned towards Hamilton again and kissed him for longer than she ever had before. The others just stood and watched, Bella was crying, Will and Scout looked at their shoes. “I Love you” Hamilton said and picked up her helmet for her. “I love you too, forever.” They hugged and kissed one more time. She waved goodbye to the rest of them and just stared into Hamilton’s ocean blue eyes. She gave him one more heartfelt kiss. Than, She was gone. She sped off as the rest of them watched her disappear in the distance. |
