BIOGRAPHY

By Jan Hargreaves

Imagined on a Monday, considered in depth on a Tuesday, it wasn’t until the following Wednesday that The Interruptions became the class act it now is. The clothes the individual members bought on the Thursday are surely the ones that fit, and if they’re not then soon they will grow into them.

It’s Thursday week by now, and this five-piece band of international playboys in the making is well on its way to global domination.

Three Daves, a Mick and a Terry make up The Interruptions. Loosely centred around Blackpool, but stretching right along the Fylde coast and inland slightly, they have already produced an excellent 3-track demo, featuring crowd-pleaser Get Fast, almost-ballad Special and slow-burning Patience.

They bring with them influences as diverse as Buzzcocks, Joy Division, Chikinki and trad jazz, then mix them with the rare sounds that circle within their own heads. In a world that seems to be obsessed with filtering punk through new wave with a ska cherry on top, where bands all sound the same, The Interruptions aren’t afraid to buck that trend and make real music that only says one thing "We are The Interruptions – who the fuck are you?"

Live, they capitalise on the tightness of their recorded sound to create a sonic experience that will move you, no matter how high your Hoxton Fin. Catch them now, be among the elite who will say in years to come "I saw them before they were signed".

The Interruptions aren’t just a band. They are a colourfast, supersonic, surefire deadcert design for living. More importantly, they are right.
