Rock Sliders and Fender Flares
These are the Rocksliders manufactured by All-Pro Offroad, of Hemet California. They are welded throughout, and incorporate a 'flare' in the back to protect the rear wheelwells and act as a fulcrum to get arount trees and big rocks. The Rocksliders are weld-on, and can support the full weight of the Iron Yuppy without any noticeable flex. I tried them out with my Hi-Lift, and they are STRONG! My only concern is that they aren't long enough to protect the full length of the rockers, and leave about 5" exposed at each end. By the looks of the Rocksliders, they were designed to fit a truck with 35-40" tires. An odd choice, as most people with 4Runners run 13 or 33" tires.

The Rocksliders are delivered unpainted. I decided to pass on powder-coating the sliders, as powder-coating begins to flake and peel under consistent abuse. I instead gave them three coats of Tremclad semi-gloss black, and touch them up as required from time to time. And, as you can see, I've added a strip of 'no-slip' for the passenger and drivers' safety.
These rubber flares extend to the outer edge of the tires, which is a requirement of the Motor Vehicle code in BC. I could have spent $350 on a set of fragile aftermarket fiberglass flares, but it made more sense to go with a flexible, inexpensive rubber option. C'mon, would Mad Max have girly fiberglass flares on his 4Runner?!
