"See thou character. --Give thy thoughts no tongue,
      Nor any unproportion'd thought his act.
      Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
      The friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
      Grapple them not to thy soul with hoops of steel;
      But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
      Of each new-hatched, unfledged comrade. Beware
      Of entrance to a quarrel; but being in,
      Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.
      Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice:
      Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgement.

            ......

      This above all: to thine own self be true,
      And it must follow, as the night the day,
      Thou canst not then be false to any man."

      --Shakespeare

    Commander of the Contingent
    This person has full discretion and authority over the whole of the Jericho Contingent. It is his duty to organize the members of the army, assure the quality of the troops under his command, and to actively seek out potential persons who would benefit the Contingent. Only he can induct, promote, demote, or eject any members of the Contingent. The Commander is also available to settle any disagreements between members of the Contingent, if those said members cannot resolve their problems by way of their direct commanding officer. The leader of the Contingent should always be ready to listen to any grievances a member may have (provided that the grievance is brought before the Commander properly) and try to find a suitable solution to any difficulties presented. In addition to all of this, he is to act as an advisor to the rulers of Kenyon in matters of war and defense, keep the rulers abreast of the health of the Contingent in general, relate any intelligence gathered regarding the safety of Kenyon, and to be a trusted political representative of Kenyon. He recieves his orders from the Goddess or Lord of Kenyon. The Commander must always act in the best interest of his sworn kingdom and its people, and he must always strive to live up to the creed of the Contingent and the code of Kenyon. If, for any reason, he is unable or unwilling to perform his duties as Commander, the ruler of Kenyon will immediately appoint another to carry on in the position.
