The Cell Project
The cell project was assigned on Wednesday, November 27th and is due on December 9th or 10th (depends on session).  This is an alternative assessment project that will take the place of a cummulative test for the second marking period. This is an independent, out-of-class project.
Summary: This project involves you creating some sort of 3-D model to represent the structure of a plant or animal cell.  You may choose to represent the cell in any way you wish, using candy, pasta, office supplies, or just about any other available item.  Try to use an item for each part of the cell that is related to the shape or function of the actual part.  For example, chromatin could be made out of spaghetti, ER out of lasagna, and mitochondria out of ziti.  This model is only limited by your own imagination.  You can suspend the cell parts in a gel or Jell-o, make a mobile, make a poster with three dimensional qualities, make a diorama, bake a cake, use clay or play-doh, or do anything else that meets the requirements of this project.  You will be responsible for labeling the parts either directly, or by using a key.  You will also need to include a brief description of each part of the cell.  You will be presenting your model to the class when it is due.

Grading System:
20 points -- 2 points for each cell part (labeled & described) X 10 parts
     10 points -- Neatness & Creativity
     10 points -- Overall Quality
10 points -- Presentation (content, poise, volume, preparation, & thoroughness)
     50 points -- Total Score

Extra Credit: If handed in before we go on Christmas Vacation, then 5 points will be added to your score.  Three points will be given for projects turned in on January 2nd.
