About the game
The magical world of Spira is threatened by a creature called Sin, which spreads chaos, destruction and death.Your goal is to lead Tidus and Yuna on their way to the defeat of Sin!

In this game, the
Sphere Grid level up system and the CTB sytem were introduced for the first time.

The
CTB (Conditional Turn-Based) window shows the player in which order the character will act. This let's the player to carry out the battles with more strategy. The order of turns for each ally  and enemy will be listed in a small window in the upper right corner of the battle screen. The order of turns can be manipulated by certain action. For example: using Ultima will make that the caster needs more time to recover and will attack not as many times as he/she normaly would. To speed up turns, skills like Haste/Hastega or Quick hit can be used.

In order to get stronger in FFX, characters will have to move around the
Sphere Grid and activate nodes. In this way characters will learn new skills and rise their sats.

Short Sphere Grid Tutorial:

There are 2 types of Sphere grids: the Standard Sphere Grid and the Expert Sphere Grid. The Standard Sphere is a simple Grid with a lots of Lock node which indicate how the character should move. The Expert Sphere Grid is a lot more flexible and lets the player to develope the characters the way he/she wants to. Perhaps you would like to make Auron to your ultimate Black Mage or Lulu to your ultimate Slayer...

Chose "move" from the Sphere Grid Menu to move around on the Sphere grid. When you chose "move", 1 or more nodes will lighten up, indicating how many steps your character is able move, which depends on how many Sphere levels you have! Sphere levels are gained after certain battles and are comparable to ordinary levels in other games. After moving chose "yes" to confirm or "no" to cancel. Then select "use" to bring up a window, that list the spheres that you have gained so far. Each Sphere that is usable from you characters location will be white marked. You will also be able to activate the next and previous node from your location. Some nodes are surrounded by small coloured dots. This indicates that a diffrent character had activated this node earlier. Each character has his/her own color:
