Characters
There are 12 characters + 2 hidden
characters in this game. If you have action replay/game shark, there will be
another 2 character available
Special ability: Morph
This is the first character you will control. She is
half Esper and half human.
When leveling up she will learn a few skills
automatically, such as Cure/Cure 2, Fire/Fire 2/Fire 3, Life/Life 2, Merton and
Ultima (!). But to get the strong spells (Fire 3, Life 2 and Ultima) you will
need to be on a very high level. When you use “Morph”, she will transform into
an Esper, which makes her spells and physical attacks more powerful. This only
lasts for a certain amount of time. The more battles you fight without using
it, the longer it will last when you eventually use it.
Special ability: Steal
Locke is a thief but prefers to be called “Treasure Hunter”. The “Steal”
ability lets you steal items from enemies, such as healing items and sometimes
even weapons and armors.
Special ability: Tools
Edgar is the King of Figaro. As his parents passed away, either he or
his younger brother had to become the new king. He sacrificed his freedom in
order to fulfill his brother’s wish and became the new king. The “Tools”
command lets you use tools (such as “Auto Crossbow” and “Chainsaw”). They
usually do heavy damage, making it very valuable.
Special ability: Blitz
Sabin is Edgar’s younger brother. He
didn’t want to sacrifice his freedom, just because the country needed a new
king. “Blitz” is a really odd command. You have to press buttons in a certain
order to do special moves. If you look under the “Skills” menu in the main menu
screen, you will see in which order you have to press the buttons. A very good
ability, since some of them can deliver some really heavy damage.
Special ability: Runic
She worked earlier for the “Empire”, but realized that the empires’
doing wasn’t right. She and Terra are the only characters that learn spells
without the help of the Espers. The “Runic” ability absorbs the enemy’s magic
moves as MP. This comes really in handy. “Runic” can only be used if Celes has
a sword equipped.
Special ability: Throw
Now this guy is really something. He works for the empire and kills
people in order to get cash. Sometimes during the battle his dog, Interceptor,
comes and attacks one enemy, doing very surprisingly heavy damage. It will
sometimes also take the damage that is done to Shadow. You must have this guy
in your team. The “Throw” command lets you throw an unequipped weapon or other
throwing weapons (Shuriken, elemental Edges) at your enemy. Very good, but it
could get expensive to buy the weapons/throwing weapons.
Special ability: SwdTech (Sword techs)
He is a skilled swordsman. His
family was poisoned by Kefka, which made him join the others in order to fight
the “Empire”. “SwdTech” is quite good. When pressing the “SwdTech” command in
battle, a bar will appear. Above the bar are the numbers 1-8. If you wait, the
bar will begin to fill up. When the bar has filled up to a certain number
(depending on what move you want to do), just press the confirm button and Cyan
will attack. If you look under the “Skills” menu in the main menu screen, you
will see what the moves do.
Special ability: Leap/Rage
I hate this guy. Animals raised him since his
parent’s didn’t want him. He doesn’t have a “Fight” command. Instead, he has
something called “Rage”. “Leap”
Sucks really hard. When you use this move, Gau will
leave your party. Then you will need to fight a few battles and after certain
battle Gau will come back a new “Rage” moves. This can only be used on the
“Veldt”.
Special ability: Slot
He’s pretty OK. He is a gambler and uses cards and darts as his weapons
(!). He is the owner of the world’s only airship. When you use “Slot”, you will
have to get three objects that identical to each other (just like a real slot
machine). Certain objects do certain attacks. If the objects aren’t identical,
you will se a funny looking rabbit that will give you a small healing.
Special ability: Dance
A well-known creature in the Final Fantasy games.
This is a very valuable character, since he repels enemies if he has the
“Moogle Charm” equipped.
The “Dance” ability is pretty similar to Gau’s “Leap”. Dance’s can be
learned by certain enemies. The good thing with “Dance” is that Mog doesn’t
leave your party like Gau does.
Special ability: Lore
An old man with magical gifts.
Nothing more to say about this guy. “Lore” is pretty OK. You will learn new
“Lore’s” if enemies use them on Strago. When using “Lore” you will use up MP,
just like normal magic.
Special ability: Sketch
She is only 11 years old and is Stargo’s granddaughter. She is a very
good painter. When you use “Sketch” you will copy an enemy and begin to use his
attack (it’s just like having an enemy fighting for you).
Umaro
Special ability: -
Umaro is one of Mog’s friends. You
can’t control him. He will just fight by himself, using only physical attacks.
You will need Mog to get this guy.
Special ability: Mimic
This guy is probably the best
character in the game. He has only one command: “Mimic”. It lets you use an
attack that the previous character used. Pretty cool (but sometimes VERY
irritating).
These characters are only available if you have
certain cheats. Unfortunately I don’t know them and I don’t know so much about
the characters either.
Special ability: Shock
He works for the “Empire” as a general. He is
actually a good guy that cares about every soldier’s live. Unfortunately, he
dies in a battle against Kefka. You will get to control him during 1 battle
against Kefka (even if you don’t have the needed cheat codes).
Special ability: ????
He is the bad guy in this game and is the final Boss.
And that’s about that…
Espers
In this section I will list the
available Espers in FF6. The “Esper system” is comparable to the “Job Class
system” in FF5, the “Materia system” in FF7 and the “Weapon system” in FF9:
They will teach your characters magic spells, if they are equipped on them. You
can summon each equipped Esper once per battle. To do that, choose the “MAGIC”
command in battle and press the direction button up until the Espers name
appears. Finally confirm it by pressing the “X”-button. This list shows the
name of the Esper, the name of its attack, MP costs, effect and the Location
where you can find them. I will explain the locations closer in the

Walkthrough
NOTICE: through out the game I will
give you advice, what the recommended level of a character at a certain point
of the game should be. That is because you should know if you are on a good
level or not. If you are on/over the level I recommend, you won’t have any
problems later into the game. You will be able to make on lower levels, but it
will get harder further into the game. This walkthrough can be used if you play
the SNES version to, but you should notice that names and HP of the enemies
sometimes wont be the same. I have written that certain bosses will drop a
certain type of item when they die, but there is no 100 % guarantee that the
boss will drop it. Sometimes the bosses won’t drop anything.
NARSHE
“Long ago, the War of the
Magi reduced the world to a scorched wasteland, and magic simply ceased to
exist. 1000 years have passed… Iron, gunpowder, and steam engines have been
rediscovered, and high technology reigns… But there are some who would enslave
the world by reviving the dread destructive force known as “magic”. Can it be
that those in power are on the verge of repeating a senseless and deadly
mistake?”
Well that was the intro… After the
intro Terra, Biggs and Wedge will appear. They are standing on a hill and are
looking down at the town “Narshe”. They got orders to check on an Esper, which
is said to be in that city. Then Biggs and Wedge begins to discus why Terra is
with them on this mission. Then, the main intro will come up (you know… the
text thing). After some text, you will find your self in Narshe. Just head
north and you will run into some guards. Fight them by using “BIO BLASTER” (if
you want you can use any of the other attacks to, but “Bio Blaster” attacks
multiple enemies). Biggs and Wedge don’t have “Bio Blaster”, so just attack
with what ever you want. If you are low on HP, then use “Heal Force”. After the
battle, just go north and you will eventually reach a mine. You will have to
fight 4 other guard-groups on the way up to the mine. Inside the mine, you will
notice a blue glowing dot. This is a “Save Point”. After the quick briefing
about the save point, open the main menu and Save. If you want to do some level
ups, then do it, because there is a boss battle coming up (but don’t forget to
save often). When you are ready, then go up and you will see a sealed gate.
Biggs will break it and now you are free to go in. Suddenly another guard
appears and sends Whelk at you…
BOSS BATTLE 1
Name: Whelk
HP: about 1600 (pretty high for the
first boss of the game, huh?)
Weakness: None
Earnings: Potion, Tincture
Recommended Party Level: 4
This guy wont be any hard if you
keep your cool. Level 4 is pretty good, but if you are able so try to get a
higher level. In the beginning of the battle you will get a briefing from
Biggs, which says that you shouldn’t attack the shell. Do as he says and DON’T
ATTACK THE SHELL! Have Terra use “TekMissile” and let Biggs and Wedge use what
ever you want. Heal when needed. A few times during the battle, Whelk will
retreat into his shell. DON’T ATTACK! If you do, it will counter with “Mega
Volt”. During the time he is in his shell, let your party heal them self or
don’t do anything. After a while Whelk will come out again and you are free to
attack again. Just repeat this and he will eventually go down.
Go north and you will reach what you
have been searching for…THE ESPER. The Esper will begin to glow and Terra goes
up to it. Suddenly Biggs and Wedge disappears. Then Terra will also begin to
glow and some kind of connection appears. You will then find your self in a
house. Go and talk to the man who stands a bit away from the bed. Terra will
begin to feel ill. The man tells her that he removed the “Slave Crown” and that
she was controlled while she was wearing it. You will get to know that Terra
has amnesia. Now you will get to name her. Just name her to what ever you want
(I prefer not to rename the characters). Soldiers will come and demand the
owner, to open the door since they know that Terra and her Magitek armor are in
that house. The owner tells Terra to get away from there as soon as possible.
Now, follow the man and go out the back way. Go left until you reach a bridge.
The guards will notice you. Oh oh… now you got some problems. Well there is
nothing to do about it, so let’s just keep going left until you get into a
cave. Go through the cave until you come to a Save point. Guess what you should
do now… Yeah that’s right, SAVE! If you need to heal your self then use
Tonic/Potion or use Terra’s cure Spell. Now keep going north. On your way you
will find a “Phoenix Down” and a “Sleeping bag”. Try to get your level up to 6
or more. Suddenly the guards will appear and Terra will fall through a hole.
She will get unconscious and you will see her “flash back”. After that, you
will see a scene in the house, which you woke up in earlier. Locke (your 2nd
character) will appear. Name him! The old man tells Locke to find the girl and
take her to “Figaro”. In the next scene, Locke will find Terra. But the enemies
have found her too… A new guard group will come to take Terra. And there are
quite a few of them… But don’t give up the hope, because here they come… THE
MOOGLES! Now you have to fight, using 3 different teams. By pressing the
“SQUARE” button, you will be able to switch between them. You are supposed to
defeat the Commander before his army reaches Terra. Otherwise it’s… GAME OVER!
Try to get rid of all of the monsters first. (The Moogle named Mog has a
“Mithrtil Pike”. Unequip it, since another of your character will need it
later. When you’ve got rid of them, heal
with items or use a less damaged party for the next boss battle…
BOSS BATTLE 2
Name: Marshal, Lobo x2
HP: (Marshal) 420, (Lobo) 27
each
Weakness: (Marshal) poison, (Lobo)
none
Earnings: 18 EXP, 410 GP,
Potion
Recommended Party Level: 4-5 (Locke)
Let’s kick some buts! First kill of
the Lobo’s (they should go down in one hit). Now let’s take care of the
Marshal. Well you haven’t much more to do than heal with items (when necessary)
and use physical attacks. Use the “Dance” command if you fight with the party
with Mog in it. This guy should go down after 2 or 3 turns (or even faster).
VICTORY!
The Moogles will leave you and Locke
will take Terra to an exit. As Terra wakes up, Locke will tell her to remember
this entrance. You will have to use it later… Now you will get control of your
party again. Go to the man standing in front of a house and talk to him. He
will tell you that it is a classroom for beginners. Go inside (even if you not
are a beginner). In the first room there is a bucket with healing water inside.
Use this when you are around and need to recover. Go into the “ENVIRONMENTAL
SCIENCE”-room. In the upper-left corner of the room, is a chest with a monster
inside. Fight it and you will get…eh…NOTHING (except 18 EXP and 30 GP). Check
the pot in the Upper-right corner to get a “Tincture”. Save here if you want.
If you go into the “BATTLE TACTICS”-room, you will find a chest with a
“Sleeping bag” in it. In the “ADV. BATTLE TACTICS”-room, there is a chest with
a “TONIC” in it. Well that’s it. If you want, you can talk to the peoples here
to get other important information’s. Now leave Narshe (go south) and head out
on the world map. Leveling up is a good thing to do at this point (Level 10 is
VERY good but it could take some time. If you don’t want to waste so much time,
level 5-6 is pretty good too). Go back to the classroom if you need to recover.
FIGARO CASTLE
Now go south, until you reach a
desert. In the middle of this desert is the Figaro castle. Watch out; since the
“Areneid”-enemies could wipe you out when you at least expect it. Now lets go
into the castle. At the entrance, a guard will stop you but he will recognize
Locke and let you enter. Just keep going north until you reach the throne room.
Talk to the king (Edgar) and you will get to name him. After a little
conversation, you will get the control of Terra again. Go out of the throne
room and go up the stairs (in the upper right/left corner of the room). Open
the chest with a “Phoenix Down” in it. Now go down the stairs again. If you go down a little bit, you see 2 doors.
Go into the right door first and buy the “Noise Blaster” and the “Bio Blaster”.
Open the 2 chests to get a “Tonic” and an “Antidote”. Go out and enter the left
door. Open the chest to get a “Soft”. Now talk to the man and buy everything
you can afford (if you want). I recommend 5 “Antidotes”, 3 “Echo Screens”, 2-3
“Phoenix downs” and a few “Tents”, if you have some money left. Go out and
leave the next screen too, by going south. As you go down a bit you will see 2
doors with guards next to them. Enter the left door and you will see a door and
stairs that leads down. If you go through the door, you will be asked if you
want to rest. Do it since it is for free (you can gain a few levels in the
desert if you want and come back here to recover). Go down the stairs and leave
south. You will find your self in front of the castle. Go a little to the left
and then go up and you will eventually see another entrance into the castle. Go
up the stair and talk to the old woman. She will tell you a little about Sabin,
Edgar’s younger brother. Name him. When you get the control of Terra again,
head back to the throne room and talk to Edgar. A guard will come and tell
Edgar, that someone from the empire is coming. Then you will see a cinema scene
with Kefka in it (Kefka is the final boss!). Check his ugly laugh. As Kefka
enters the castle, you will get to control Edgar. Talk to Kefka’s troopers and
then talk to Kefka. Kefka will demand Edgar to give him Terra. Edgar tells him
that he couldn’t keep track of all the girls in the castle and said that he
didn’t know any thing about Terra. Kefka will leave after he threatened Edgar.
Head up and talk to Locke. Edgar will tell Locke to take Terra to her room. You
will control Terra. Follow Locke through the lower-right door. In the next
screen, head down the stairs and go south. Once again, you will find your self
in front the castle (but this time, on the opposite side). Head a little to the
right and then up. Go through the door and talk to Locke. After a conversation,
you will see Edgar waking up in the middle of the night. You will notice that
the castle is under fire. A guard will tell him that Kefka attacked the castle.
Kefka will appear once again. Go up and talk to the guard. After a super-quick
chat with Kefka, Edgar will ride away on a Chocobo (and so does Locke and
Terra). The castle will dive into the
sand. Kefka will get mad and send 2 M-TekArmors at you. Time for…
BOSS BATTLE 3
Name: M-TekArmor x2
HP: 210 each
Weakness: Lightning
Earnings: Potion
Recommended Party Level: 5-6
Nothing special with this battle…
Have Edgar use “Auto Crossbow”, Locke use “Steal” or physical attacks and have
Terra use “FIRE” or let her heal by using CURE. When you use “FIRE”, a little
cinema scene will appear. These guys should go down in no time.
After the battle, there will be a
conversation. Then ride the Chocobo southeast. Don’t press the “O"-button
(if you do, you will disembark the Chocobo), unless you want to battle. You
will see a cave entrance if you went the right way. Disembark and enter the cave.
There is a soldier, who describes the way to “SOUTH FIGARO”. There is a
recovery spring in the upper part of the next screen, so leveling up is a
pretty good idea. Level 7-8 would be good. Now go through the entrance to the
right side of the room. If you go left and up the stair, you will find a chest
with a “Tincture” in it. Go back and head right and then down. You will see a
path that leads to the right. There is another chest with a “Tincture”. Now get
back to the main route and you will eventually see stairs that leads up. You
will also see another, smaller set of stairs to the left of the “bigger” stair.
Go that way if you want to get a “Phoenix down”. Now go up the “bigger” stair
and head through the final parts of the cave. You will eventually get out on
the world map again.
SOUTH FIGARO
Head southeast to reach South
Figaro. As you enter the city, you will see a Chocobo stable. Next to it are 2
barrels. On one of them is a “Tonic”, so check it out. If you check behind the
stable, you will find a “Green Cherry”. If you go northeast of the stable, you
will come to a big house. Enter it! Go to the left and go out through the door.
You will see 2 barrels. On one of them is a “Phoenix down”. As you see, there
is a small way, to the right of the house. Go that way and go behind the house.
Then go down. You will come to a storage room. Check the clock to get an
“Elixir”. Now go all the way back to the city entrance. Go to the Weapon/Armor
shop in the northeast part of the city. Buy 2 “Regal Cutlass’s” for Terra and
Edgar. Don’t buy any weapons for Locke, since can use Edgar’s old
“MithrilBlade”. Buy the “Noise Blaster” and “Bio Blaster”, if you haven’t got
them yet. You should get 3 “Plumed Hat” in the armor shop. You should also buy
a “Kung Fu Suit” for Locke and a “Cotton Robe” for Terra. Finally buy a “Heavy
Shield” for each character (now don’t forget to equip them). If you want to
sell your unnecessary armors, then do it. But DON’T SELL the weapons. Shadow
could get use of them. Now let’s go to the relic shop. It’s just southeast of
the Chocobo stable. Talk to the man in front of the disk. He talks a little and
then leaves. Then a Moogle will appear and explain about the relics. Buy 1
“Sprint Shoes” and 3 “Star Pendants”. Equip one “Star Pendant” on each
character and then equip the “Sprint Shoes” on any character you want (to equip
them you will have to go to the “Relic” menu). Yeah! Now you move faster and
you are protected against poison. That’s pretty good, since there are many
poison enemies coming up. Go up the stairs and go to a door in the end of the
corridor. You will now come to a Café. You will notice that the music has
changed. This is Shadow’s theme. If you go to the right side of that screen,
you will see a knight-like person with a dog. That’s Shadow with his dog,
Interceptor. Go and talk to him. You will get to name him. Well, there isn’t
much left to do here so just leave the Café. If you go left from the Café, you
will see a barrel. Check it to get an “Antidote”. Now leave the city and head
north to a house. Go inside and Edgar will recognize a familiar smell. If you
go and sleep in one of the beds you will get recovered. Now leave the house.
Just as you were about to leave, Edgar will wonder if Sabin (his younger
brother) was here earlier. Talk to the old man that is standing beside the
house. He will talk a little about Sabin, Master Duncan (Sabin’s trainer) and
Vargas (Master Duncan’s son). Now get back on the world map and go east until
you reach a cave.
MT. KOLTS
As you enter the cave, just go
through the first 3 screens. You will eventually reach a screen with a big
boulder-like thing in front of you. Go past “under” the boulder-thing. You will
see an exit. Go through it and get the ”Guardian”. It’s weapon for Locke, so
equip it. Go back to the boulder-room and head north. Just keep going until you
come to the next screen. In the next screen you will see a mysterious dark
figure run away. Just keep going. In the following screen you will see an
entrance back into the cave. Go through it and keep going. You will eventually
find a chest with a “Tent” inside. Take it and head back. Go left of the cave
entrance and you will see another “Cave entrance”. Now just go through this
screen, over the bridge in the next screen and you will finally come to a save
point. Use a “Tent” (it will recover you) and then save. In the next screen,
the way will go in spirals, so just keep going until you come to the center.
You will notice a guy. That’s Vargas and he was the mysterious dark figure that
was shadowing you earlier. Prepare for…
BOSS BATTLE 4
Name: Vargas, Ipooh x2
HP: (Vargas)11600, (Ipooh) 360 each
Weakness: (Vargas) Wind
Earnings: None
Recommended Party Level: 7-8
PRETTY high HP, huh? You wont need
to do so much damage to defeat him. In order to attack Vargas you will need to
get rid of the Ipoohs first. Have Edgar use “Auto Crossbow”, Terra use “FIRE”
(multi target by pressing “R1” or “L1” button) and have Locke use physical
attacks. Heal when needed. Then go for Vargas. Just do the same thing you did
to the Ipoohs. After you have done about 700 to 800 in damage, Sabin will
appear. A little conversation will take place. You will get to know that Vargas
is jealous at Sabin. After a while Vargas will use “Blizzard Fist”. Everyone in
your party will be blown away except Sabin. Now it’s a one-on-one battle:
VARGAS VS SABIN. To win press the “BLITZ” command and press LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT
and then the confirm button (“X”-button). If you have done it right you will
see the word “PUMMEL” in the top of the screen. All right! You made it.
After a chat, Sabin will join your
party. Go into the next screen and open the chest to get a “Tent”. Then go down
and leave MT. KOLTS.
RETURNERS’ HIDEOUT
You will once again get out on the
world map. Go north while you are keeping a eye at the mountains on your right
side. Sooner or later you will reach another cave-like entrance. Now enter the
“RETURNERS’ HIDEOUT”. Go and talk to the man and he will lead you to a door. Go
through it. In this room there is a chest with a “Potion” in it. Save at the
save point and talk to the man in that room. This is Banon. A little
conversation will take place. Then you will automatically go to rest. Then you
will control Terra. Talk to Locke. Then open the chest to get a “Phoenix down”
and leave the room. Go and talk to Sabin, who is standing in the southeast part
of the room. And finally go and talk to Edgar. He is in the room where you met
Banon. Leave the “RETURNERS’ HIDEOUT”. You will see Banon standing next to the
entrance. Talk to him and he will ask you to join the “RETURNERS”. If you chose
“YES” you will get a “Gauntlet” (it lets you hold one weapon with 2 hands). If
you chose “NO”, you wont be able to get the “Gauntlet”, but you will be able to
get a “Genji Glove” (the “Genji Glove” is more valuable than the “Gauntlet”,
since it lets you equip a weapon on EACH hand). So chose “NO” and you will
automatically brought back into the Hideout. Head north to a room with 3 chests
in it. Open them to get “Phoenix down”, an “Air Lancet” and the “True Knight”
relic. Check the bucket next to the pot in the upper part of the room to get an
“Antidote”. Check the pot to get a “Tincture”. Talk to the man in that room to
get the VERY valuable “Genji Glove”. Now go back to Banon and talk to him. He
will ask you once again to join the “RETURNERS”. This time, answer “YES”. Now,
a long meeting will take place. Banon will explain he present situation. After
a while a wounded soldier will come and tells that South Figaro is invaded by
the Empire and that the Empire knows about the “RETURNERS’ HIDEOUT. Locke will
be sent to South Figaro to check the situation. The rest of the party is going
to head for Narshe to see the frozen Esper. Now put Banon in the back row,
since if he dies, the game will be over. Go down and hop aboard the raft. The
raft will follow stream, so there is not much more to do than fighting the
enemies (Banon’s “Health” command recovers some of your party’s HP). After a
while you will come to “a fork in the road”. You will get the alternative to go
left, right or straight. Chose “Straight
and you will eventually reach a save point. Save and hop aboard the raft again.
Once again you will come to “a fork in the road”. This time there are only 2
alternatives: Up and left. Chose Left and you will ONCE AGAIN reach a save
point. This time use a tent if you need it and then save. Hop aboard the raft.
After a while you will meet ULTROS…
BOSS BATTLE 5
Name: Ultros
HP: 3000
Weakness: Lightning, Fire
Earnings: None
Recommended party level: 8
This guy has a very high HP. But
don’t panic. He is not that hard. Have Banon ALWAYS use “Health” (even if you
don’t need it). Terra should use her “FIRE” spell, Edgar should use “Auto
Crossbow” and Sabin should use “BLITZ” (PUMMEL or AURA BOLT if you have it).
Some times, Ultros will use an attack called “Tentacle”. It does pretty heavy
damage, about 100-300 damage. When you use “FIRE”, Ultros will counter you with
“INK”, which gives your character the “BLIND”-status (“BLIND”-STATUS decreases
the HIT-rate of the characters physical attacks, but don’t worry since you not
are going to use physical attacks in this battle anyway). After doing about
3000 damage to him, he will run of. Sabin will jump of the raft and “split
scenario’s” are going to take place.
You will now get to control Mog (!),
but only for a few seconds. Go to the save point and save. Now you are able to
choose which scenario you want to play first, by going and talk to the
person(s). I would suggest going for Locke’s scenario first…
LOCKE’S SCENARIO
You will begin of in font of a house
in South Figaro. Your mission is to get Locke to Narshe. First of, equip the
“Genji Glove” relic on him. Then go back to the menu by pressing the
“O”-button. Locke will be auto-equipped with the best equipment you have in
your inventory. Now let’s go. Go left (but don’t talk to the soldier in the
Magitek armor, as he probably will wipe you out) and then go up the stair and
into the house. You will se a set of stairs that leads down. If you go down,
you will notice a boy that is blocking the way, so go back up the stairs. Talk to the old man that is sitting in the
lower-left part of the room. He will say that he wont talk to you until you get
him some cider. Well, then lets go and get some cider. Go back out of the house
and go up the next set of stairs and enter the Item shop. Talk to the merchant
next to the clock. He will recognize you and then attack you. You will have to
fight him. Don’t attack him. Instead, use the “STEAL” command. If it failed
then use it until it works. If it doesn’t fail, you get an item and his
clothes. The merchant will then run away. Now go back to the previous house
that you were in and then go down the stairs to the boy who is blocking the
way. He will let you proceed, since he thinks that Locke is a merchant. Now go
through the door and head to the northeast part of the city. Next to the armor
shop will be a set of stairs. Go up and head left. Eventually you will meet a
green soldier. Time to fight. Just steal his clothes and he will run away.
Don’t kill him. If you do you wont get his clothes. Now head back and go west
of the weapon/armor shop. Talk to the soldier, which is standing not far away
from the Chocobo stable. He will go away. Go south to the café. Go to the place
where you saw Shadow earlier and then go down the stairs that is located to the
south. Go through the door and talk to the merchant (Steal his clothes). Locke
will then pick up the cider. Now head back to the little boy that was blocking
the way. Go up the stairs and give the man his cider. Now he is willing to tell
you the password for the secret passage. The only problem is that… he has FORGOT
it. But hey, don’t worry that’s why you have this walkthrough. Go back (once
again) to the boy that was blocking the way. You will have to tell him a
password. The password is “COURAGE”. If you accidentally took the wrong
password you will have to steal new clothes and then go back to him again and
then tell the right password. Anyway he will open a secret passage. Go through
it and then down the stairs. You will come to a storage room (remember it?).
Leave by going up the stairs and then through the door. Go around the house and
enter it through the other entrance (the one next to the barrels). Go up the
stairs in the upper-left corner of the room. Enter the first room from the
left. If you go behind the bookshelf in the left part of that room, you will
come to a secret passage. Just keep going until you will be asked if you want
to change your clothes. Do it if you want. Now listen closely! Go down until
you hit the wall and then go right. You will come to a hidden basement. If you
check the chest in the first cell, you will get a “Hyper Wrist” (it raises your
“VIGOR”/strength). In the second cell, there is a chest that is hard to see. It
contains a pair of “Running Shoes”. Now head back up the stairs and go right
through the corridor. Locke will automatically look inside the first room.
Guess who’s inside. It’s Celes, you next character. You will se a soldier beat
her up (man, what kind of guy is this soldier? Hitting a girl…). You will get
to name her and then a little conversation will take place between her and the
soldier. You will get to know that Kefka is going to poison the people of
“DOMA”. The soldier will hit her again and Celes will get unconscious. The
soldier will leave and the other soldier will fall asleep. Enter the room and
free Celes. Celes will join Locke. Check the soldier and take his clock key.
The soldier will jump up and talk about food while he still is asleep. Now go
out and enter the next room. Save at the save point and then head into the last
door. Go through this room and pick up 500 GP, 1000 GP and 1500 GP that are
lying in the chests. On of the chest will be empty. In the upper part of the
room is a clock. Wind it and a passage will open. Go through it. From now on
there will be random encounters again, so be aware. Equip Celes with
weapon/armor and relics. You will notice that Celes is able to use magic just
like Terra. I recommend saving your MP for the “CURE” spell, when you need to
be healed. Anyway, this place is pretty complicated to explain, so I will just
tell you the way out of here. If you want to get the items, then you will have
to search for them. Go right, then a little bit down and then right again. Go
down through the wall (about 17 steps) and then turn right. Go up the stairs.
Celes will talk to Locke, just as you are about to leave. Then leave the city
by going right. Now use your memory and head back all the way back to Narshe
(by going through the cave to your left). Just as you are about to leave the
Locke will notice a weird sound. Heal at the recovery spring and then head
south. Suddenly TUNNEL ARMOR will attack you…
BOSS BATTLE 6
NAME: Tunnel Armor
HP: 1300
Weakness: Lightning
Earnings: 250 GP
Recommended party level: 8
This guy can use magic spells! But
with Celes in your team this shouldn’t be too hard. Have Celes use “RUNIC”
during each turn (it will absorb the spells and heal Celes’ MP) and have Locke
use physical attacks. This battle should be pretty fast if you have Locke
equipped with the “Genji Glove”. But don’t forget to heal when necessary.
After the battle, Locke and Celes
will leave the cave and its time for the next scenario… (Don’t forget to save).
SABIN’S SCENARIO
You will begin on the world map. Go
little to the right and enter the house. Listen to the music… Well if it isn’t
Shadow’s theme. Talk to Shadow and he will join Sabin. He will tell you that
the empire is about to attack DOMA CASTLE. Equip Shadow. You maybe noticed the
soldier that is riding on a Chocobo. He is actually a merchant. Buy a few “Phoenix
Downs”(have at least one in hand since you will need it for a Boss battle) and
a few “Shurikens” (if you have more than 3000 GP then buy 99 “Shurikens”. A few
“Tents” would also be good, if you have the money that is needed. You can rest
in the house by sleeping in the bed. Since it is for free you can fight a
little on the world map to get some money to buy the things. Sometimes,
Interceptor will assist Shadow (Interceptor is Shadow’s dog). Interceptor
usually does VERY heavy damage. It will sometimes also take the damage instead
of Shadow. Anyways, if you have Sabin at level 8-9 you can move on with the
story. Head east and then south until you reach a very small desert-like area.
This is the “Imperial Camp”. You will hear a conversation between 2 soldiers.
Kefka will do a little entrance and then leave. A commander will appear and
tells the soldiers to get prepared to storm DOMA CASTLE. You will see a cinema
scene at the DOMA CASTLE. Cyan, your next character, will appear. Name him. Now
you will get to control him. Talk to the commander and you will have to fight
him. Just use the “Quadra Slam” (it is the number 4 under the “SWDTECH”
command) and he will go down. The soldiers will retreat and the scene will
switch back to Sabin and Shadow. If you go into the tent to your right, you
will see a chest. The lock won’t open, so you will have to either kick it up or
hit it up. If you hit it, a soldier will come and check the tent. Your party
will hide behind the chest and the soldier will leave. Now you can open the
chest. There is a “Star Pendant” inside. If you kicked it up instead, a gang of
“Dobermans” will attack you. After you have defeated them, you are free to open
the chest. Go south over the bridge and you will see a cinema scene with
General Leo in it. He’s very caring and friendly. A soldier will come and give
him a letter, which says that Leo should head back to the Emperor. He will then
go inside the tent. Just as you want to keep going, another cinema scene will
take place. This time with Kefka in it. He is going to poison DOMA. General Leo
will come back and tell Kefka, not to “play” with the live of the soldiers. And
so, Leo will leave. But Kefka is the bad guy, so what do you think he is going
to do? That’s right, he will order the soldiers to prepare for the invasion.
Just as Kefka is about to leave, Sabin and Shadow will stop him. You will have
to fight him, but he will run away after 1-2 hits. Follow him. BUT DON’T TALK
TO HIM. Instead go left of him to a tent with 2 chests in it. One of them
contains a “Mithril Glove” and other is a “MONSTER-IN-A-BOX” box. You will have
to a “Telstar”. It has a pretty high HP, but he shouldn’t be hard. When the
“Telstar” is about to die, it will summon a few soldiers. Just focus on the
“Telstar and then get rid of the soldiers. You will be awarded with a “Green
Beret”. Now go back to Kefka and talk to him. He will continue running. Follow
him and talk to him again. And once again you will have to fight him. He will
run of again (ohhh…) and tell a soldier to attack you. To get rid of them as
fast as possible use Sabin’s “Flame Dance”(BLITZ #3). Now you will see Kefka
poison the river. The people of DOMA will die (except Cyan and a few other DOMA
sentries). You will get the control of Cyan. Equip him with the “Mithril Glove”
and “Black Belt” relics. Go up through a door and just move on until a sentry
comes and tells you to go to the king on the double. Cyan will automatically go
to the throne room and will find the king, who is dying. Before the king dies
he tells Cyan to check on his family. Now go out of the throne room, go down a
little and go through the door to your right. If you check inside the pot in
the upper-right corner of the room you will find a “Remedy”. Now go back and
then go inside the door to the right of the throne room. Cyan will find his
wife, Elayne, and his son, Owain, dead. In rage Cyan goes to attack against the
Empire Camp. You will get the control of Sabin and Shadow again. You will see
Cyan fight against soldiers. Let’s help him. If you stand in front of Cyan and
talk to him you will be attacked, so talk to him when standing behind or next
to him. Now lets battle. You wont be able to control Cyan. Have Shadow use
physical attacks and have Sabin use “Fire Dance”. You will have to fight 2 more
battles after that. After the battle Cyan will thank you and then join you.
They will find a few Magitek armors and jump into them. Now go back to the
entrance of the Camp. On the way you will have to fight 3 enemy groups. Them
Magitek armors are pretty powerful. If you use the “Bolt beam” on the “M-Tek
Armors”, you can sometimes do more than 1000 damage. Anyway, when you reach the
first part of the Camp, you will automatically be brought back to the world
map. Go west, over the bridge, then south and finally east over the next
bridge. Then enter the “PHANTOM FOREST”. This is pretty hard to explain… Just
keep going until you reach a train station (you can find a sea with some
healing water in it, on the way). Enter the train. This is the “PHANTOM TRAIN” that
brings the dead people to … ehhh … the “other” side. You wont be able to leave
this train until you stop this train. Go right to the next carriage. There is a
Phantom. He will join you (if you want). If Shadow has left your party, then go
out and enter again to get another Phantom in your party. Go back to the first
carriage and head left. Some of the Phantoms in here are enemies and some of
them will either join you (if you have less than 4 characters) or sell items to
you. Just go through the next carriage to. In the third carriage, a phantom
will block your way back out. Talk to him and fight him. You will now be
followed by lots of phantoms. Climb up one the top of the carriage. Head left
and your party will jump over the next carriage. Go inside the next carriage
and flip the yellow switch. You will automatically go out again and see the
carriages be separated. Now go back inside and flip the switch again. A new
passage will open. Save at the save point and then keep going left. If you sit
down at the table in the next carriage you will be served some food (restoring
HP and MP). Leave the carriage and go around it. Then enter the next carriage.
There is room with a chest in it. If you go close to it you will meet
Ziegfried…
Boss Battle 7
Name: Ziegfried
HP: 100
Weakness: None
Earnings: Green Cherry
Recommended Party level: 9
This is some kind of bad joke. He
seems so powerful but the appearance is not always true… He will begin by
attacking many times in a row. There isn’t much I can say about this battle,
since Cyan accidentally killed Sigfried with a counter attack (I didn’t even
got to do anything). He will then run of with the item (you won’t be able to
get it).
Go out and then head for the next
carriage. In the room on the left side of this carriage are 4 chests. One of
them is a “MONSTER-IN-A-BOX”-box. You will have to fight a “Specter”. Watch out
because since he has a pretty high HP and can use an attack called “Lightning”.
It can do more than 150 damage. If you have any Phantoms in your party, then
use “POSSESS”. It should kill him. You will be awarded with a “Hyper Wrist”
relic. Open the other chests to get 2 “Phoenix Downs” and a “Sniper Sight”
relic (if you have this equipped, you will never miss when you attack with your
physical attacks). Leave this room and then leave the carriage by heading left.
The Phantoms will now leave your party. In the next carriage is a save point.
Save and heal. Now head out and go left. You will reach the locomotive. Enter
it and flip the 1st and the 3rd yellow switches. Then go
out and go left and “talk” to the smoke stack. Great… Now you have done the
Phantom Train mad…
BOSS BATTLE 8
Name: Phantom Train
HP: 1900
Weakness: Fire, Lightning, Earth
Earnings: Tent
Recommended Party level: 10
If you have a “Phoenix Down” then
this battle should be the easiest Boss battle this far. Just use it on HIM and
he will go down. If you haven’t got any don’t worry, he’s not impossible to
defeat. Just have Sabin use “Aura Bolt” (if you have it) and have Cyan use
“Quadra Slam”. He can use an attack called “Evil Toot”. It will blind one of
your characters, so it’s nothing to worry about. He will go down after a while.
The Phantom Train will let you go.
He will let you jump of at a station. Cyan will see Elayne and Owain get on the
train. A little scene will take place and then you will get the control of
Sabin. Just walk around a little and you will automatically be brought back to
the world map. Go south, a little to the east and then go north. You will se a
cave entrance so enter it. If you go up you will come to “BARRENS FALLS”. Go up
and you will get a location briefing. If Shadow hasn’t left your party already,
he will do it now. Go up again and you will be asked if you want to jump. DO
IT. You will have to fight a few groups of “Piranha”-enemies. Just use “Quadra
Slam” and “Fire Dance”. After about 6 enemy groups, a “MINI BOSS” will appear.
He is called “Rizopas”. He only has about 800 HP, so just keep hitting him with
the same attacks you used on the “Piranha”-enemies. You will see a scene with
Gau in it. Gau is your next character. Your party will get conscious again and
see Gau run of. Leave the screen by going down. You will notice that the music
is different from the usual “World Map-Music”. That’s because you are on a
special part of the world, The Veldt. The enemies here wont give any Exp. Gau
will sometimes appear after a battle. He will say that he is hungry. Just
ignore it and attack him. He will then run of. Move southeast and then
northeast to MOBLIZ (it’s marked with a white dot on the map). Go to the relic
shop in the northwest part of the city to rest for free. If you go even more to
the northeast you will see a young couple. This is Duane and Katarin (they are
pretty important persons later on in the game. Well now go to the item shop
(it’s located in the east side of the city). For now just buy a “Dried Meat”
and then leave the town. Fight a few battles until Gau appears. Use the “Dried
Meat” on HIM and a weird scene will take place. Gau will join you and says that
he will give you a gift because you gave him food. An IMP will appear and tell
you about Gau’s skills. Now head back to Mobliz. Go to the weapon shop and buy
a “Mithril Claw” for Sabin and a “Kotetsu” for Cyan. Then go to the armor shop.
Buy “Iron Armors” to every character that needs it (it should be 4 characters),
1 “Bandana” for Sabin, 2 Heavy Shields and 6 “Iron helmets”, if you can afford
it. Now equip them by using the “OPTIMUM” command under the “EQUIP”-menu. Rest
and leave the city. Save on the world map. Head south to a mountain. Search for
a cave entrance and enter it. Gau will tell you that he has forgotten where he
hid the “Shiny-present”. Well, lets search for it. Just go through this tiny
cave. When you come to the end of this cave, Gau will find his “Treasure”. It
lets you breath under water. Your team will jump into a river in hope that it
leads back to Narshe. An under-water trip will take place. Don’t do anything;
just defeat the enemies when they appear. Ignore the yellow arrows when they
appear. You will come to an underwater-dungeon. Take the “X-potion” and head
up. The underwater trip will continue. After a while you will once again come
to an underwater-cave. Go through the first room. In the second room is a
switch that drains the water in the little pool. Go down into the empty pool
and jump into the hole. Open the chest to get a “Green Beret”. Then go down
through the door and leave this cave trough the exit. The last part of the
underwater trip will take place and you will eventually wake up in NIKEAH. Go
up and buy a “Mithril Pike” for Edgar at the weapon shop. Go to the Inn and
check the clock upper-right room to get an “Elixir”. Now go back to the sea
port/harbor and talk to the man aboard the ship and take the ship back to
Narshe. And this is the end of this scenario (puh…).
TERRA’S SCENARIO
This is the easiest of the 3 scenarios. Just keep going until you reach land and then head for Narshe. Enter the secret passage that I told you to remember (its located west of the “Beginners classroom”. Follow the familiar path back to the house where Terra woke up. In a special room in the cave, there will be a light that flies around in the room. Go the same way as the light did. If you do any mistake, the light will surround you. To get out of it, you will have to get the crystal-like thing in front of your character. If you don’t manage to get it in front of you, you will have to fight enemies and then begin at the beginning of the room again. In the next room there is way that leads to the Moogles. Visit them if you want! Anyway just go back to the house that Terra woke up in. And that’s the end of this scenario. Easy, isn’t it?
A more or less dramatic scene will take place. Everyone will then head for the peek of the hills to defend the frozen Esper. Equip everyone and then save. When you are ready, talk to Banon. You will now have to stop the soldier from reaching the Esper (you have done a similar thing in the beginning of the game). My advice is to wipe out every one first (but you don’t have to). Edgar’s “Bio Blaster” is the best offensive action you can use at this moment. When you reach Kefka, it’s time for…
Boss Battle 9
Name: Kefka
HP: 3000
Weakness: None
Earnings: Peace ring
Recommended Party Level: 10
Nothing much to say about this battle. Kefka will use some nasty spells on you, such as “ICE 2”. Celes’ “RUNIC” is command is very good to use. If you lose against him you will begin at the top of the screen again. When you have done 3000 damage points on him, he will run of.
When you finally have defeated him, you will be automatically brought up to the Esper. Just like in the beginning of the game, a reaction between Terra and the Esper will take place. Terra will transform into an Esper and fly of. You will wake up in the house where Terra woke up earlier. You’ll have to find Terra so form a group with 4 characters in it (I would recommend Sabin, Edgar, Cyan and Celes). Leave the house and go down (not down the stairs). You will come to a storage room. Open the chests to get 5000 GP, “Wall Ring”, “Sneak Ring”, “Hyper Wrist”, “Thief Knife” and a pair of “Earrings. One of the chests will be locked. Don’t worry; we will come for it later. Leave Narshe and head to Figaro Castle. When you come inside the castle, Sabin will wander around a while alone. Go and rest in the resting room and a scene will take place. It’s about Sabin’s and Edgar’s past. Now go to the first room of this castle (the one with stairs on the both sides). Go down the left stairs to come to the Basement 1 and talk to the old man. He will take you to KOHLINGEN. Leave the castle and head north. You will come to the city of Kohlingen. Buy the needed equipment (only for the characters that are in your party right now). Now you should try to fill your inventory with Items. Fight in the forest west of the castle to earn some serious money (usually 1099 GP pro battle). Then go to the castle and buy items. If you have Edgar on the top, you get a 50% discount. Don’t forget to buy the “Flash” and the “Drill” (Items that can be used with the “TOOLS” command). Also, don’t forget to save often. When you are ready head south until you reach JIDOOR (if you go north of Kohlingen, you will find a house. Check out the forest to the west of the house to find a Chocobo stable. You can rent a Chocobo here and then head of to Jidoor). Once again buy needed equipment. When you are ready leave Jidoor and head northeast. I would recommend renting another Chocobo. Just follow the bright way and you will eventually reach…
ZOZO
Now, this place could be pretty dangerous, so hope you have saved. Head east past the Café and head north (some of the enemies here will use “VANISH”. If they do, they can only be hurt by magic). Enter the house (the Inn) and you will see a clock. The clock’s hands have stopped so you will have to reset the. Enter the time: 6:10:50 and then enter the hidden passage. Open the chest to get Edgar’s most powerful tool: The “Chain Saw”. Now leave this place the same way you came in. Head south to the house with a Relic mark on it. Just keep moving up until you reach a room with a lot of thieves going in a row. Follow them and head up the stairs. In the next screen you will, go up the stairs until you can’t go any further. Go through the door on that floor to get the “Thieve Gloves”. Now go down 2 stairs and you will see another door. Go inside and you will notice that you only can go in a little bit. Move left to jump over to the next building. Continue to move left to reach the next building. Go inside it. Move up and check left wall. You will find a hidden set of stairs. Check on of the pots to get a “Tincture”. Then go down to leave this room. Go up the stairs and jump to the next building. Keep on jumping to reach the “Relic” house again. Now keep on moving until you reach a man in red (don’t forget to get the “Fire Knuckle” on the way and to equip it). Talk to him and he will tell you that he hates fighting and will let you pass. But you maybe noticed that almost every here is lying. So that means that this guy won’t let you pass and that he loves fighting. And what does that mean for you? That’s right…
Boss Battle 10
Name: Dadaluma
HP: 3270
Weakness: Water
Earnings: Headband, Thief Knife, 1210 GP (more if you kill his helpers)
Recommended Party Level: 11-12
This guy will mostly use physical
attacks. He will use items to recover him self and sometimes throw dirks at
you, doing very heavy damage. Heal when needed and pound him with your best
moves. When he near death, he sometimes summons 2 “Iron Fists”. Just
concentrate on Dadaluma. When he dies, the “Iron Fists” will too.
Now go up the stairs and enter the
door. Go up a little and head left to get a pair of “Running Shoes” then head
all the way right to get a “X-potion”. Now go up and you will find Terra
sleeping in a bed. Once again a scene will take place. In this scene you will
meet Ramuh, the Esper. He will tell you a little about the “War Of Magi”. He
will tell you to free the other Espers in “Magitek Research Facility” and give
you his powers (you will also get the powers of Siren, Kirin and Stray). Pick
up the magicites. Then go down and talk to the characters that weren’t in your
party. On the way back out of the city, they talk a little. Then you will make
party of 4. Celes and Locke are HAS to be in the party (the other 2 should be
Edgar and Sabin). Talk to the Phantom that appears. He will tell you about
Magicites and learning magic. Now equip the Espers. Ramuh will learn your
characters Lightning-based spells, so have Locke, Sabin and Edgar learn “BOLT
2”. The reason why you should teach them “BOLT 2” is that the next boss is weak
against Lightning (but it’s up to you, if you want to teach them or not. If you
want to teach them “BOLT 2” then be prepared for a few hours training). Celes
wont be fighting with you in that Boss battle, so give her Ramuh when nobody
else needs it. Try to tech them Kirin’s “CURE 2” spell to. From now on you will
also get MP besides EXP and GP. And finally: have ALWAYS an Esper equipped on
each character, even if it doesn’t teach you anything more. Before you begin to
train, head back to Jidoor (it’s closer to the Inn if you train near the city).
When you are done with your training, go to the big house in the north part of
Jidoor.
THE OPERA
You have now entered Owzer’s house.
Talk to the person who is running around. He is searching for a girl called
Maria and he mention that Celes looks just like Maria. Go down and take up the
letter that the Impresario dropped. You will get to know that this is from your
next character, Setzer (name him). He has written that he is going to kidnap
Maria. You will also get to know that he is the owner of the world’s only
airship. The airship comes really in handy, since you need to get to the
empire. Rest at the Inn and then rent a Chocobo. Head south and jump off the
Chocobo when you come to a house on the peninsula. Save and be sure to have the
“Sprint Shoe” relic equipped. Now enter and talk to the Impresario. A
conversation will take place and the party will decide to use Celes as a decoy.
Finally you will see Ultros again and he wants to foil your plan. You now get
to see the beginning of the opera now. After a while, you will get the control
of Locke. Now leave through the lower-right door and go to the room where Celes
went into. Talk to her. After while you get the control of her. Check the score
and leave through the upper door and finally go through the curtains. Listen to
the music. It’s Celes’ theme (pretty nice). Anyways, a few times during the
Scene you will need to choose the right text. I will write down the whole

Oh my hero, so far away now. Will
I ever see you smile? Love goes away, like night into day. It’s just a fading
dream…
I’m the darkness, you’re the stars. Our
love is brighter than the sun. For eternity, for me there can be, only you, my
chosen one…
Must I forget you? Our solemn promise?
Will autumn take the place of spring? What shall I do? I’m lost without you.
Speak to me once more!
Celes will move to the upper floor.
Now you have to act fast. Go to the knight that appears and talk to him. Then
follow him and talk to him when he stops (HURRY). Finally he will transform
into flowers. Pick them up and go up the stairs. Then go to the balcony. Puh…
you made it. This shouldn’t been so hard. Now you will get the control of Locke
again. Go to the exit of this room. Read the letter next to the table. Now go
back to the Impresario and talk to him. You will see Ultros trying to push down
a 4 tons metal junk on Celes (how did he get it up there anyway). You have got
5 minutes to stop Ultros. Go to the door in the upper-right corner of the
screen and go through it and go up the stairs. Talk to the man and flip the 4th
switch. Then hurry back to the Impresario and go to the upper-left part of the
screen. Go through the door and make the way to Ultros (you will have to fight
a few battles before you reach him). Heal before you talk to him. Ultros and
your party will fall down. After a short scene it’s time for…
Boss Battle 11
Name: Ultros
HP: 2550
Weakness: Lightning, Fire
Earnings: 2 GP
Recommended Party Level: 12
It’s the same as the previous
“ULTROS-BATTLE” (the only difference is that it is even easier this time). Use
“BOLT 2”/“BOLT”/“FIRE” if you have them (which you should if you followed my
advice). Sabin’s “Fire Knuckle” (a weapon) does pretty heavy damage too (it did
about 1200 damage for me, but it depends on the level). He will sometimes use
“L.3 MUDDLE”, “IMP SONG” and “ACID RAIN” so be sure to have the “White Cape”
relic equipped if you have it. Ultros will eventually run away.
Setzer will appear after the battle.
He takes Celes and then disappears. He will lock her into a room in the
airship. Then he leaves the room. The rest of the party will also hop aboard.
When Setzer comes back, he realizes that Celes is not Maria. After a talk,
Setzer will take you to ALBROOK. Buy needed equipment. Don’t forget to re-equip
Celes. Buy 4 “Wall ring” relics in the relic shop. They will reflect all magic
(unfortunately even healing magic). When you are ready, leave Albrook. Go to
the airship and press “X”-button to enter it. You will see to guys. One of them
will recover your party and the other one will sell items. Level up a little
bit and then head northeast to VECTOR. After you have entered the city, go a
little to the left, to a SMALL house. Talk to the woman and when you get to
choose between “YES” and “NO”, choose “NO”. You will have to fight 2 “Guards”.
After you have defeated them talk to the woman again. Now she will heal you for
free, each time you talk to her. Don’t sleep at the Inn, since you’ll be robbed
while you are sleeping. If you want to get better equipment (which is a good
idea, since the upcoming enemies have a pretty high attack power), then head
east from Vector and then head southeast to reach MARANDA. You can also head
north from Vector, to reach TZEN. In Tzen is a guy (in the upper-right part of
the city) that will sell you the Sraphim Esper for 3000 GP. BUY IT! When you
have bought the needed items, head back to Vector. Heal and Save. Then head up
to a man who is standing behind a big box (northeast form the entrance of
Vector). Talk to him and he will divert the guards. Jump up on the left box and
will automatically pass the guards. If you go close to the guards, you will
have to fight them, so don’t do that. Instead head north. You will then enter
the…
Magitek Factory
Well this place is very hard to explain. Explore the first room thoroughly, you should find 2 or 3 treasures. Climb into the left pipe, and go downstairs. Remember, there are a lot of treasures here. Try pressing against the far southern walls, and you will find doors leading to a few treasures. Keep going and look for Kefka. When you find him you will see a scene where he dumps 2 Esper after that he has drained their power. Jump off where Kefka threw the 2 Espers. Make sure that you are fully healed at this point. Talk to the red-brown Esper and Prepare for the next…
Boss Battle 12
Name: Ifrit and Shiva
HP: (Ifrit) 3300, (Shiva) 3000
Weakness: (Ifrit) Ice, (Shiva) Fire
Earnings: None
Recommended Party Level: 13
Ifrit and Shiva are well known creatures in the FF-series. They will nullify all elemental attacks and absorb their own element. For Ifrit, use Ice-elemental attacks (“ICE”), and use Fire-elemental attacks (“FIRE”, “FIRE DANCE” etc) on Shiva. Use “Runic” if you have Celes in your party. Try to cast “REGEN” on everyone before you begin to use “Runic” or summon Kirin (summoning Kirin will save some time). Heal when needed. At the end of the battle, they will sense Ramuh’s power and give up.
Talk to them and they'll turn into Magicite. Equip them on someone since they tech you “FIRE 2” and “ICE 2”. Go through the left door, use a “Tent”, and save your game. Go back through the door, and go into the right one this time. Go all the way up the stairs, fighting enemies on the way. Search the MAGITEK RES. FACILITY for a Break Blade (Check the south wall). It is hidden out of view. Go through the next doorway to fight #024.
Boss Battle 13
Name: Number 024
HP: 4777
Weakness: Varies
Earnings: 4 MP
Recommended Party Level: 13
This guy can use an attack called “Wall change”. It changes his weakness. The best thing to do id to use non-elemental attacks (such as “Pummel”, “Chain Saw”, “SwdTech”, “Rage” and physical attacks (check that the weapons not are elemental). Summon Kirin or cast “REGEN”. Have Celes use Runic if you have her. He will sometimes use “MUDDLE”, so watch out! He should go down in no time.
As you enter the next room, you will see a lot of Espers. Move up and press the red button. It will turn them into Magicites. Cid will appear. You will get the Espers powers. After a conversation, Kefka will appear. Celes will save the party by using “WARP” and teleport her self and Kefka away. Follow Cid and he will help you Escape. Equip the “Shoat” Esper on someone since you will need the “DOOM” spell that he teaches you. Have someone else have the “Phantom” Esper (it teaches you the valuable “VANISH” spell). The last character should have Kirin. Now Heal and save at the save point. Talk to Cid and then jump aboard the little carriage. You will have to fight a few battles on the way and then it’s time for…
Boss Battle 14
Name: Number 128, Left Blade, Right Blade
HP: (Number 128) 3276, (Left Blade) 400, (Right Blade) 700
Weakness: None
Earnings: 5 MP, Tent, Phoenix Down
Recommended Party Level: 13-14
Begin by summoning Kirin and Phantom in that order . Then attack the main body (the arms can regenerate them self) with your strongest attacks. Heal when needed (preferably with items, since magic neutralises the effect of Phantom. If you kill of the arms, he will sometimes use “Gale Cut”. When the body has run out of HP the arms will die to.
Go to the Save point to the north. Save and heal. Then head south. Setzer will come and join your party. Just as you are about to fly away, Kefka will let 2 Cranes attack you.
Boss Battle 15
Name: Crane x2
HP: (Left Crane) 1800, (right Crane) 2300
Weakness: (Left Crane) water, (right Crane) water and lightning
Earnings: 4 MP
Recommended Party Level: 13-14
Begin with calling Kirin. It doesn’t make any sense to call Phantom since the “Cranes” mostly use magic (it neutralizes the effect of Phantom/”VANISH”). Use your strongest attacks (don’t use magic) and call Bismark if you have him equipped. For Setzer; use “SLOT” command. Try to get 3 ships. If you do you will do attack “H-BOMB”. It’s best attack Setzer can do for this battle. Go for the Left Crane first since it has the lowest HP. Watch out for the “Magnitude 8” attack. Heal when needed.
The party will return to Terra. Terra will wake up and remember everything about her past. You will get the control of Maduin, Terra’s father. Go out and head northeast. Talk to the girl (Terra’s mother) that is lying on the ground. You will get 2 alternatives. Choose “Return together” An Esper will take care of her. Go to and talk to the girl. You will then once again begin at your cave. Go out and head northeast again. There will be an Esper, who blocks your way. Talk to him and he will let you pass. Keep going north and then talk to the girl. Terra will be born. You will then see a scene that happened 2 years afterwards. The empire will attack the Espers world. Once you get the control of Maduin again, go and talk to the elder. Then go talk to the Esper, who is blocking the entrance. Terra’s mother will run of. Go out and head east. Go to the cave where you found her earlier. You will see the Emperor and his troops being blown away. Head up and talk to Terra’s mother. She will then also be blown away. The emperor will take Terra and kill her mother. After this flash back, Terra will transform back to normal. The party will head back to the airship. Now you will finally get the CONTROL OF THE AIRSHIP. Go down the stair to your right to leave the deck. Go down and talk to any of the character. Now you are able to change party members. I would recommend having Terra, Edgar, Sabin and Cyan in your party. Go back up a floor and talk to the man to your right. Tell him to unequip the members who are not in your team right now. Now head back up on the deck and check the steering. Lift of and train until one of you characters has learned “DOOM”. Someone should learn “VANISH” too (can be learned by Phantom). If you want to earn a few levels at the same time, head to the west most part of the world and fight in the woods. The “Chimera”-enemies gives a pretty good experience. When one of your characters has learned “DOOM”, equip the Shoat Esper on a other characters (it’s important to teach characters “DOOM” and “VANISH”, since this spells make the game whole lot easier). Head to the little island in the upper-right corner of the world map. You will usually only fight “Leafers” and “Dark Winds” but if you are lucky, you will meet the super dangerous “Intangir”. He is invisible and is sleeping. Don’t wake him up, since he is much more than you can handle (he is only on level 26 but has 32000 in HP and 16000 MP). As long as you don’t use any magic spells, he wont hurt you. If you now use the “DOOM” spell on him he will use “METEO” on the characters that used the “DOOM” spell and eventually dies. It will give you 10 MP (!). After the battle, revive the character if he died, save the game and then fight another “Intangir”. Repeat this and you will eventually have learned all the Spells that are available for now. When you have learned all the spells (only those who are in your party right now have learn them), try to level up to level 23-24. When you feel ready, head for Narshe.
MOG
In Narshe, head north. A soldier will take you to Banon. He will tell you will have to open the “Sealed Gate” to the Espers world. Head out and go to the storage room with the locked chest (do you remember?). You will see “Lone Wolf”. He will take the treasure and run of. Go out and follow him. He ran to the mines in the north part of the town. Just as you are about to enter, you will see “Lone wolf” further up on the mines. Pay attention to the white guy in the upper-right part of the screen. That’s Umaro (another of your characters). Enter the mines and head right. Keep going until you reach the frozen Esper. The “Lone Wolf” will take a Moogle as hostage. They will both fall of the cliff. You have to save one of them. If you talk to the “Lone Wolf”, you will get the “Gold Hairpin” (it halves the MP consumed when using spells). But the Moogle will fall of and you wont be able to get Mog and Umaro, so don’t care about the “Lone Wolf”. Instead go and talk to Mog and he will join you. The “Lone Wolf” will fall of and now head back to the airship. Now head to the “IMPERIAL BASE”.
IMPERIAL BASE
Head up the stairs in the north part of the city and head right. Go down the other set of stairs and leave the city to the east. You will find your self on the world map again. Head east and you’ll enter the “CAVE TO THE SEALED GATE” Use ice-and Holy-based attacks (“ICE”, “ICE 2”, “Aura Bolt” etc) on the enemies here, since they are weak against Ice-and HOLY-elemental attacks. Pick up the “Assassin” in the first room and head for the next room. Here, pick up the “Tempest” (it’s one of Cyan’s weapons) and leave the room by using the door to the right. Equip the “Tempest” on Cyan, if you have him in your party. In the next room you will have to get to the door on the other side, without falling into the lava. If you do you will have to begin from the beginning again. You find a “X-potion” and a “Coin Toss” relic (it will change Setzer’s “SLOT” command into “GP RAIN”). In the next room, just keep going until you reach a bridge. Pull the handle that is located halfway over the bridge. The bridge will break and you will hear a distant sound. Take the left way and head up the stairs. Head up and you will see 2 handles on the same wall. Pull the left handle first to open a path and enter it. Open the chest to get a “Tent” and use it at the save point. SAVE! Head out and pull the right handle you will have to fight a “Ninja”. He will mostly only use edges and skeans. Hit him with your most powerful attacks and he will go down (he has 1650 in HP and is weak against lightning and Holy elemental attacks). He will talk about some buried treasures and then disappears. Go right to the bridge and pull the handle. Continue right and go down the stairs. Get the “Ether” and go through the “mini cave” on the right side. Go north through the mini cave and head right. Ignore the chest since it is empty. Go down and head left to a switch. Step on it and go through the passage that opens. Open the chests to get an “Ether”, 2 “Magicites” (summons random Espers) and the “ATMA WEAPON”. This is the best weapon in the game (and at the same time the most rotten weapon in the game). The damage that is done with it depends on the users HP. If the user’s HP is high it will do some massive damage and if the HP is really low, it could do less damage than the first weapon you had in the game. Terra, Edgar, Celes and Locke can use this weapon. Equip it on the person with the highest HP (but only if his/her HP is over 1000). When you have gotten the items, head right and keep going until you reach the next room (pick up the “Magicite” on the way). Go through this room by going up the stairs. Before you leave this room, heal you self with SPELLS (not Items). Now go through the passage. You have now reached the “Sealed Gate”. Kefka will appear (oh no, not again). You will have to keep Kefka busy (by fighting him) until Terra slips through the gate. Just attack him a few times and the gate will open. Lots of Espers will come through the gate and the Gate will then be blocked by boulders. Now head down and leave through the passage that has opened. Go through the next room and enter the “Imperial Base”. Your party will then be heading to Vector. Suddenly the Espers will attack them and the airship will crash (oh no, not the airship). Now go down from the deck and go to the guys that sell items and heal you. Talk to the “Healing guy” to get recovered and then leave the airship by going down. Save!
THE BANQUET
Head northeast to Vector. Head to the north part of the town. If you keep going, one of the Emperor’s men will come and say that the Emperor is expecting you. Follow him and then talk to the Emperor. He say that he want piece. You have now to talk to as many soldiers as possible and try to get them understand. You have 4 minutes to do that. In the end you will be rewarded. The reward depends on how many soldiers you talk to (there are 24 of them). Don’t talk to Kefka, since he will use up some of your time. Be sure to have the “Sprint Shoes” equipped. You will have to fight a few of the soldiers. When you have talked to 23-24 soldiers, wait out the timer and the dinner will take place. The reward you are going to get depends also the way you act at the dinner. Just choose the alternatives in the order I have written it:
1) To the Empire…
2) Leave him in jail…
3) What’s done is done…
4) CELES is one of us!
5) Why’d we have to talk to your men?
6) Okay
7) Yes, the Espers have gone to far.
8) Why do you want peace now?
9) Let’s keep talking.
10) That all you really want is peace.
11) Yes
General Leo will appear and tell you that he will be waiting for you in Albrook. Now head down (with only Locke and Terra in your party). You will be stopped by a guy and give your award. If you have done what told you to do, you’ll be awarded with:
1) The imperial troops will have withdrawn from South Figaro
2) The imperial troops will have pulled out of Doma.
3) You’ll get access to a storage room in the Imperial Base
Equip your characters (with equipment, Relics such as “Genji Glove” and Esper) and leave Vector. Save and head to the Imperial Base (watch out, the enemies could wipe you out since you only have 2 characters in your party). When you arrive at the Imperial Base, enter the house that you see in lower-right part of the screen. Go down the stairs and enter the storage room. Open the chests to get a “Cherub Down” relic (casts “FLOAT”), a “X-potion”, 8000 GP, 13000 GP, 20000 GP (!), an “Ether”, a “Wall Ring” relic (“casts “REFLECT”), a “Running shoe” relic (casts “HASTE”), an “Elixir”, a “Cure ring” relic (casts “REGEN”, very valuable) and a “Back Guard” relic. There is a chest in the lower-right corner of the room that you can’t see. It contains an “Elixir”. If you go back to the airship, you will see a scene with Setzer. Anyway, head to Albrook and save. Go to the seaport in the south part of the city and talk to Leo. Guess what… Celes and SHADOW (!) are going to join on this mission. Rest at the Inn. In the middle of the night there will be a scene with Locke and Celes in it. After the scene, go and talk to Leo and you will be of to Thamasa. During the journey, you will get the control of Terra. Talk to Leo and a long scene will take place. After the scene talk to Leo again and then talk to Locke. Your party will head of without Celes. Equip Shadow and give him the Maduin Esper (so that he learns the important elemental spells). Equip Shiva and Bismark on the other characters (since the up coming enemies are weak against water/ice).
THAMASA
Head northeast to Thamasa. Go up and you will see a weird scene behind a house. Hmm… pretty suspicious. Buy needed equipment. Head to the house with the weird scene behind it and enter it. Talk to the old man in the house. This is Strago. Name him. Suddenly another character appears. This is Relm. Name her. After the conversation go and sleep at the Inn. It only costs 1 GP per night. Strago will wake you up in the middle of the night. Leave the Inn and head right. Talk to Strago and he will tell you that Relm is inside the burning house. Strago will use magic to eliminate the fire but without success. The other villagers will help him. Your party will have to go inside (Strago will join you). Give Strago either the Kirin or Sraphim Esper. Now go through this house, fighting the “Balloons”. Try to save MP (“LORE” uses up MP). Keep going until you reach the source of the blaze…
Boss Battle 16
Name: Flame Eater
HP: 8400
Weakness: Water and Ice
Earnings: 492 EXP, 4 MP and 1200 GP
Recommended Party Level: 22-24
Flame Eater will use an attack called “Bomblet”. It will make a few “Balloons” appear. Call Shiva/Bismark to get rid of them. Have Strago use “Aqua Rake” (“LORE”) and have Terra and Locke use ICE 2 or Physical attacks. Terra should use “MORPH” before she begins to use spells (She should do about 3000 damage when using “ICE 2”). Heal when needed (use Sraphim when you need to heal the whole party). Keep it up and he will go down.
The party will find Relm and Interceptor further into the room. Suddenly more enemies appear, but Shadow comes to your rescue. You will then find your self at Strago’s house. Strago tells you that he will help you find the Espers and that the Espers probably are hiding in the mountains in the west. Check the left wall of the room to get a “Memento Ring” relic. Leave the house. Shadow will leave your party. Buy a “Morning star” (weapon) for Strago and put him in the back row. Leave the town and head to the mountain entrance in the west. Pick up the “Heal Rod” in the first room. If you equip it and attack someone, it will heal the target. Attack you own party to heal them. Head up and go through the right exit (Notice that Relm is following you). Just go through the next screen. In the following room go up the small set of stairs and head right (oops…there is Relm again). Go to the 3 golden statues. These statues are the source to all magic. Heal up and go down. Suddenly your old friend will attack you again.
Name: Ultros
HP: about 10000
Weakness: Lightning
Earnings: None
Recommended party Level: 23-24
Ulty is back and he is stronger than ever. This battle could be pretty hard; still it is NOT a Boss Battle (weird). That’s why I haven’t written “Boss Battle 17”. Anyway, don’t under estimate him. His attacks are basically the same as last time (except that they have gotten stronger). Attack him with “BOLT 2” or attack him physically by having the “Thunder Blade” equipped. At the end of the battle he will cast “HASTE” and “SAFE” on him self. After doing about 10000 damage points, Relm will appear. Have her use “SKETCH” and Ultros will run of.
Relm will join your party. Leave through the passage in the upper-left corner of the room. Save and heal at the save point. Then go down the stairs. If you watch closely, you will see weird spots on the ground (there are 3 of them). The upper one leads to the “Chocobo Suit” and the “Tabby Suit”. Equip them on Strago and Relm. After you have gotten the “Tabby Suit”, head back in and go to the broken bridge a little further down. You will automatically jump down. Now go back to the room with the weird spots on the floor. This time step on the right-most spot. Go right to get the “X-potion”. Go back in and then go down. Jump of the broken bridge part and once again, head back to the room with the weird spots on the floor. Step on the last spot (the on closest to the stairs) and head up. Keep going and you will eventually meet the Espers. After long scene and conversation, you will be brought back to Thamasa. After another conversation, Kefka will appear and capture the Espers (that bastard!). You will now get the control of Leo. Don’t try to leave the town. If you do you will have to fight a guardian.
Optional Boss Battle 1
Name: Guardian
HP: 60000
Weakness: Lightning and Water
Earnings: ????
Recommended party level: -
If you are going to fight this guy, then you must be nuts. You can’t damage him and if you lose its…GAME OVER. Actually, you can’t even defeat him at level 99. So just keep away from him. If you ACCIDENTALLY went up to him (ehh… how can you accidentally go up to him), then run away by holding down “L” and “R” at the same time.
Anyway, go up to Kefka to fight him. Use “Shock” 2-3 times and it will show out that it simply was Kefka’s shadow (ehh… yeah right, a coloured shadow). Kefka will kill Leo. The sealed gate will open again and Espers will attack Kefka. Kefka simply captures every single of them. Then, he will leave the town. After the burial of Leo, you will see Interceptor appear. He is badly hurt. Shadow is probably also dead. The rest of the party will come to Thamasa with the repaired airship. As you enter the airship, you will see the area with the sealed gate just fly up into the sky. From now on, each time you want to lift of you will get an option that says “Find The Floating Continent”. For now take “Not Just Yet”. Head down and change party members. I recommend having Celes, Edgar, Sabin and Mog in your party. WHY? I will tell you why. I recommend Edgar and Sabin just because they are strong. You will need Mog later on in the game, and it is pretty good if he knows the most important spells. Celes is the first character you’ll get in world 2. It would be pretty good if she has learned a few spells and gained a few levels until then. Fly to the triangular island in the upper-right corner of the map and have Celes and Mog learn the most important spells (“VANISH”, “DOOM”, “ICE 2”, “FIRE 2”, “BOLT 2” etc). Then try to level up to level 27. Next you should try to get Mog’s best dance, the “WATER RONDO”. Head to Nikeah and rent a Chocobo. Head east until you reach “Baren Falls” (you remember? It’s the waterfall that Cyan and Sabin jumped down from). Jump down and you’ll find your self in the Veldt. Go southeast and enter the cave and go the same way you sis during Sabin’s scenario. Jump into the river and fight a fight without using “DANCE”. You will eventually have learned “WATER RONDO”. Then go and buy needed items at Figaro castle (have Sabin or Edgar on top). When you are ready, lets head for the Floating Continent.
FLOATING CONTINENT
Choose Celes, Sabin and Edgar when you have to select a team that is going to head for the Floating Continent. The Imperial Air Force (IAF) will attack you. Move to the back of the airship and fight the enemies that appear. Wipe them out with Lightning-based attacks. Suddenly our old friend appears again and this time it’s a boss battle!
Boss Battle 17
Name: Ultros, Chupon
HP: (Ultros) about 16000, (Chupon) about 10000
Weakness: (Ultros) Lightning, (Chupon) Ice
Earnings: None
Recommended Party Level: 25
This is your last battle against Ultros. Just use “VANISH” and then use “DOOM”. And that’s it! If you prefer the harder way then use Lightning-based attacks on Ultros. After the half battle he will summon Chupon. Concentrate on Ultros and wipe him out. Then use Ice-based attacks on Chupon. After doing about 10000 damage, he will use “SNEEZE” and blow you of the airship.
Boss Battle 18
Name: Air Force, Laser Gun and Missile Bay
HP: (Air Force) 8000, (Laser Gun) 3300 and (Missile Bay) 3000
Weakness: Lightning and Water
Earnings: 3 MP
Recommended Party Level: 25
Use lightning-based attacks and concentrate only on the main part (Air Force). It will maybe create a Speck that absorbs all magic. When it appears use physical attacks.
You will end up on the floating continent. Go southeast a little and talk to… SHADOW! He will join you (don’t forget to equip him with equipments, relics and Espers). Now go to the save point heal and SAVE! The enemies are pretty hard so watch out. You might want to level up a little bit before you move on (level 28-29). What should I say? Just move on until you reach a point, where you get the question if you want to head back to the airship. Check the “Blue orbs” on the way to get treasures such as “Murasame. If you seem to have come to a dead end try to go against a wall. Sometimes, a hidden passage will open. Step on the switches when you see them to open new passages. Don’t miss the SAVE point that is hidden under ground (a little before the airship place). Anyhow, when you reached the airship place go left and then up. Stand in front of the blue creature and HEAL up. Why? Because it’s time for…
Super Boss Battle 1 / Boss Battle 19
Name: Atma Weapon
HP: 24000
Weakness: None
Earnings:
Recommended Party Level: 25-28
This is your first “Super Boss Battle”. His physical attacks are pretty powerful. If I were you, I wouldn’t be messing around with him. Just use “VANISH” and “DOOM”.
Shadow will leave your party. Head up and see a LONG cinema scene. Kefka will kill the Emperor. After that he will prepare to kill you party, but suddenly Shadow appears again and saves you. The floating continent is breaking apart. You gotta return to the airship immediately. Just keep going (there is only one way) until you reach the glowing point. Heal up and check the glowing point. You will have to fight “Nerapa”. She has 2800 HP and is weak against Lightning, Ice and Holy. But don’t use any spells since she has “REFLECT” cast on her self. She will cast “Condemned” on your party (a countdown will show for how long you characters will live). Use powerful attacks such as “AURA BOLT”, “DRILL”, “SWDTECH” etc). When you reach the end you will get a question. Choose to wait and wait out the timer (don’t run around). When there is only 5 seconds left, Shadow will appear and the party will escape together. Now watch the cinema scene, where you will see the world being thorn apart. The airship will break too…
WORLD 2
One year later…
You will see Celes sleeping in a bed. Cid comes in and checks the situation. Celes will wake up and a conversation will take place. You will have to get Cid food since he is sick. Leave the house and head down. Catch some fish and give it to Cid. He will die sooner or later (depending on what kind of fish you give him). When he is dead Celes will run to a hill. Head up and check the bird. Celes fall of the hill. She will wake up and will see a bird with Locke’s bandana. Head back to the house and check the letter on the floor. Then check the wall on the left side to find the hidden passage. Take the raft. You strand on an other continent. Equip Celes and head to the city to your left. This is Albrook. Level up to level 29 if haven’t reached that level yet.
GETTING SABIN
When you are ready head north to Tzen. Save and enter the city. Go up and you will hear an explosion. Heal at the Inn if you need. Equip Ifrit on Celes and then head up and talk to… SABIN! You have now got 6 minutes to save the kid that is inside the collapsing house. Just keep going until you reach a set of stairs (pick up the “Heal Rod” and the “Tincture” on the way). Use Ifrit when you need to (but not on the “Scorpion” enemies). Go down the stairs and head up, pick up the “Magicite” and talk to the boy, who is actually hanging on the wall (what the…). Go all the way down and pick up the “Drainer” and head back up the stairs. Go down, pick up the “Hyper wrist” and then head right. Enter the room, pick up the “Pearl rod” and leave the house fast. GREAT, you mad it. After a quick chat, Sabin will join you. Equip Sabin with the “Genji glove” relic and buy another “Fire Knuckle” for him. Notice that Sabin will be on the same level as Celes (more or less). The level of your next character depends on the level of your current party level. Anyhow, head east, over a small bridge and then head north until you reach Nikeah.
GETTING EDGAR
Head to the market and buy the needed equipment. I would recommend buying a few “Cure ring” relics from the boy (don’t forget to equip them). When you are ready, go to the café in the south and talk to the thieves (every single of them. They will then head of to Figaro Castle. Go back to the market and talk to a man (he calls him self Gerad) in the middle of the market. Talk to him and then follow him. Keep following him and you will eventually end up at the seaport. The party will then head towards South Figaro. Go to the Inn and talk to Gerad. He will then head to Figaro Castle. Leave town and head west to a cave entrance. In the cave, go and talk to Sigfried. Keep going until you reach the room where the recovery spring was (remember?). You will see Gerad and his gang jump over to the other side of the recovery spring. Keep going (notice the empty chests) until you reach Figaro Castle’s prison (there is a way leading north that will show you a short scene with Sigfried in it. Follow Gerad and head up the stairs. In the next screen, go down the other set of stairs. Go down the next set of stairs and you will reach “Basement 2”. Head up and then go down the stairs. Go down and pick up the “Gravity Rod”, “Crystal helm”, “Ether” and the “X-potion”. If you go through the left-most door and keep going you will find a “Regal Crown”. Now equip the new stuff and head back. Take the door in the middle and go up. Heal up and get ready for…
Boss battle 20
Name: Tentacle x4
HP: 6000, 7000, 5000, and 4000
Weakness: Fire, Ice, None
Earnings: 5 MP
Recommended Party Level: 27-30
Looks like Gerad really IS Edgar. He will join you. Anyway, there are 4 parts of this boss. Each one with different with different amount of HP and different weaknesses (well… 2 of doesn’t have any weakness). Just concentrate on one at a time. Begin with the one in the Lower-left part of the screen. It has 6000 HP and is weak against Fire. First of all cast “DEMI” twice (it halves the remaining HP then attack him with “FIRE 2”. During the fight the “Tentacles” might grab your character and drain their HP. There is nothing you can do against that, just wait until he let you go and then heal if needed. When you got rid of the first one, go for the one in the lower-right part of the screen. This “Tentacle” has 7000 HP and is weak against ice. Don’t use “DEMI” on this enemy, since “DEMI” doesn’t work on him. Attack him with “ICE 2”. Just use powerful attacks on the remaining 2 “Tentacle” (don’t use elemental spells, they might absorb them). Great, you made it!
GETTING SETZER (and the new airship)
Edgar will tell you that he used the bandits to find Figaro Castle. Go up and check the armor to get a “Soul Sabre”. Head back to “Basement 1”. The old man will make Figaro Castle appear out of the sand. Talk to him again and head to Kohlingen. Rest if you have to and head out of the castle. SAVE. Head northwest to Kohlingen. Enter the Café/Inn and talk to Setzer. He will join you and tell you where to get a new airship. Buy needed equipment (don’t forget to teach Setzer “DOOM” and “VANISH”). Buy a few “Revivify”; you will need them. When you are ready head to “Daryl’s Tomb” (Located southwest). Enter it and head down. If you get the “Zombie”-status, use a “Revivify”. Head through the door in the upper-right corner and check the tombstone. Go through the new passage; flip the switch and head back to main hallway. Go down to the lower-right door and get the “Genji helmet” (equip it). Head back and go through the door in the middle. Jump onto the turtle and head in to the next room. Keep going down until you reach a room with 4 tombstones in it. Check every single of them and head back to the main hallway. Go through the upper-left door and check the tombstone. You will be asked if you want to carve anything on the tombstone. Choose “YES” and carve in the following words in the order I have written them below:
1) WEHT
2) DLRO
3) QSSI
4) ERAU
ERAUQS SI DLROW EHT = THE WORLD IS SQUARE
Leave the room and go through the lower-left door. Pick up the “Crystal Mail” and head down the stairs. Pick up the “Czarina Gown” relic and check the right wall to find a hidden passage to the VERY valuable “EXP. EGG” relic. Equip it on the character that has the “Atma weapon”. Now go back to the chest where you found the “Czarina Gown” relic and head through the door you see and flip the switch. Head back to the main hallway and go through the door in the middle. Jump onto the turtle and head in to the next room. Flip the switch to the right of the door. Jump onto the turtle and head to the next room. Save at the save point. Cast “FLOAT” on the entire party and check the chest. MONSTER-IN-A-BOX!
Boss Battle 21
Name: Presenter
HP: 9845
Weakness: Fire
Earnings: 2 MP, 1000 GP, “Dragon Claw”
Recommended Party Level: 28-30
This is just like your the first boss battle. Don’t attack the shell. He will sometimes use earth-based attacks (it wont hurt you if you have “FLOAT” status. Use “FIRE 2” and he will eventually go down. Easy, huh!
Equip the “Dragon Claw” on Sabin. Save and heal! Check the other chest to get a “Man Eater” and go through the door. Keep going and check Daryl’s tombstone…
Boss battle 22
Name: Dullahan
HP: 23450
Weakness: Fire
Earnings: 5 MP
Recommended Part Level: 28-30
Cast “VANISH”/”DOOM” and it’s done. But if you want to act cool then use “FIRE 2” until he dies. Watch out for his “PEARL” spell.
Go through the new passage. You will see a scene about Setzer’s past. Finally you will get a new airship, the “FALCON”. If you want, you can go and fight the final boss now, but I recommend getting all the characters first (and levelling up). Getting all the Espers would also be pretty smart. Heal and save! Then take the airship and just fly around (this could take a while). You will eventually run into “Doom Gaze”…
Boss battle 23
Name: Doom Gaze
HP: 55555
Weakness: Fire and Holy
Earnings: Bahamut
Recommended Part Level: at least 30
He will cast “L.5 DOOM”, killing every body that has a level that is divide able by 5 (level 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 etc). He will use will use pretty powerful wind-elemental attacks. Use “VANISH”/”DOOM” to get rid of him as soon as possible. Don’t use “X-ZONE” (if you do, you won’t be able to get the Bahamut Esper. If you don’t want to use “VANISH”/”DOOM”, then attack him with FIRE-based attacks. After a while he will blow you away. Save/heal and then fly around until you meet him again. His HP will be the same as when you got blown away, so keep it up and you will eventually win.
After the battle he will spit up the Bahamut Esper. Now it would be a good idea to level up. First fly to the small island in the upper-right corner of the map and fly a little to the east. You will see a forest. Land and SAVE!!! Then fight in the forest. You will fight the super dangerous “Tyranosaur”-enemy. They have 12770 HP and are weak against Ice. They give 2200 exp each (even more if you have less than 4 characters in your party). Level up as much as possible (level 40 is VERY good and you can easily gain more levels). If it is too hard, then head to Narshe, gain a few levels there and come back here later. SAVE after EVERY battle. Sometimes you will have to fight “Brachosaur”. WATCH OUT!!! It is on level 77 and has 46050 HP. It uses an attack called “Disaster”, which can confuse your entire party and turn them into “IMP”. And worst of all: THIS BEAST CAN USE “ULTIMA”. Aahhhhhhh…. Ehum… anyways, unless you are on a high level, I would recommend running away (they could wipe you out, EVEN if you are on level 99). But sometimes its worth fighting these beasts since they sometime drop the “ECONOMIZER” relic (each spell only uses up 1 MP).
Anyhow, when you are ready, lets continue with the story. Head to the south-most island (SOLITARY ISLAND) and enter the small house-like building. This is the place where you woke up with Celes. Go to the beach where you caught the fish and pick up the Palidor Esper. If you check inside the house, you will notice that Cid is gone (what the…).
GETTING MOG
Head for Narshe (it to the north). Head left to the hidden passage and go to the place where the Moogles used to be. Talk to Mog and he will join you. Check the wall (the spot where Mog stood) to get a “Moogle Charm” relic (no random battles). Then head back to the Airship (you can use “WARP”) and have Mog in your party instead of Setzer. Equip Mog with the “Moogle Charm” and an Esper.
GETTING UMARO
Head back to Narshe and head north to the mines. Keep going until you reach the Frozen Esper. You may have noticed a blue dragon-like creature. Watch out it’s a boss…
Boss battle 24 / Dragon #1
Name: Ice Dragon
HP: 24400
Weakness: Fire
Earnings: 10 MP, Force shield
Recommended Part Level: 30-32
This is one of the 8 elemental dragons. Defeat them and you will get an Esper. Use Fire-elemental spells/attacks. Watch out for his “Absolute 0” attack. The easiest way to win is “VANISH”/”DOOM”.
Save and heal. Then head up to the frozen Esper.
Boss battle 25
Name: Tritoch
HP: 30000
Weakness: Fire
Earnings: 7 MP, Tritoch
Recommended Part Level: 30-32
Finally you will have to battle him. The easiest way to win is as usually “VANISH”/”DOOM”. If you want to do it harder then use Fire-elemental attacks. He will give you his power afterwards. Equip it on someone since Tritoch will teach you “FIRE 3”, “ICE 3” and “BOLT 3”.
A part of the cliff will brake. Go back and save. Then come back to the place where Tritoch stood and jump of the cliff. Keep going until you come to a room with a bone carving in it (it shouldn’t be to hard if you have the “Moogle Charm” equipped). Pick up the “Gauntlet” on the way. Check the bone carving to get the “Terrato” Esper. Suddenly, Umaro appears…
Boss battle 26
Name: Umaro
HP: 17200
Weakness: Fire and Poison
Earnings: 10 GP
Recommended Part Level: 30-32
Just keep pounding him with Fire-based attack and he will eventually go down. Don’t forget to heal. “VANISH”/”DOOM” doesn’t work on him.
After you have defeated him, talk to him and he will join your party (you got to have Mog in your party). Name him and head back to the airship.
Head to the continent north of SOLITARY ISLAND. You will find a city (Maranda) and south of it is a desert. Fight there to gain MP and GP (come here when you need to learn spells).
Head northeast from Narshe, to a small mountain area and land. You will see 5 trees (pretty hard to see). “Step” on them and you will find a hidden house. As you try to enter Duncan will appear (Sabin’s trainer). He will teach Sabin the ultimate “BLITZ”, the “BUM RUSH”!
GETTING TERRA
Head to village in the east part of the world. This is MOBLIZ. A boy will see you and run into the house. Follow him. A boy will stop you and then Terra appears. After a quick talk she will head into the next room. Follow her and talk to her. You will see Duane and Katarin. Well it seems like Terra doesn’t want to come with you. Let’s just leave her alone. As you leave, a boy will tell Terra that Phunbaba is coming!
Boss battle 27
Name: Phunbaba
HP: 60000 / 28000
Weakness: poison
Earnings:
Recommended Part Level: 31-32
You will only have Terra in your party. He has 60000 HP. Fight him until he defeats you. The rest of the party will come and jump in for Terra. This time he only has 28000 HP. Pound him with your most powerful blows (Chain Saw, Bum Rush etc). He will run away after a while (even though you haven’t done 28000 damage on him).
After a short scene, leave. The boy will give you the Fenrir Esper. Now witch character should we try to get next? Cyan perhaps…
GETTING CYAN
Fly to Maranda. Go to the right-most house in the town and go inside. Talk to the girl and the read the letter. The girl will ask you if you would put her letter on the pigeon. Say “YES” and head out. Check the pigeon to the left of the house. The pigeon will fly of (check the map to see where it lands). It will land in Zozo. Before heading for Zozo I would recommend flying to Jidoor (located a little south from Zozo). Go to the auction house that is located north from the Item shop. Go inside and talk to the man at the entrance. Tell him that you want bid on an Item. In this auction you are able to get the ZoneSeek Esper and the Golem Esper. You can also get the “Hero Ring” relic and the “Zephyr Cape” relic. Otherwise, they will sell an “Imp Robot” or a piece of an airship (it’s probably your old one). You can’t buy them, since a guy will buy them for his son for 1000000 GP and that is more than you can carry. When the auction is over, head out and come in again. Talk to the man again and another auction will take place. If you can’t afford it, don’t worry since you can get them later even if someone else took it. ZoneSeek costs 10000 GP and Golem costs 20000 GP. When you have bought them, head to Zozo. As you enter the city check the bird. Head to the Inn in the north part of town. Talk to the man in front of it to get a “RUST-RID” (you have to pay 1000 GP). Head back to the Café and enter it. Go up the stairs and take the right door. Go up the stairs and enter the first room to get a “Tincture”. Leave the room and check the next door. After using the “Rust-rid”, head inside. Go left and down the stairs (pick up the “Ice Shield” before you go down the stairs). Pick up the “Red Cap” and go down the next set of stairs. Keep going until you fin a save point (don’t forget to pick up the “Thunder Shield”, “Aegis Shield” and the “Gold Hairpin”). Save and heal. If you want, you can go and step on the switch that is located north of you. It will release the Storm Dragon
Boss Battle 28 / Dragon #2
Name: Storm Dragon
HP: 42000
Weakness: Lightning
Earnings: 10 MP, Force Armor
Recommended Part Level: 32-33
Watch out, since this guy uses powerful wind-elemental attacks. Use either “BOLT 2” or “BOLT 3”. If you cant beat this guy I would recommend coming back later. If want to use the easier way then use “VANISH”/”DOOM”.
Anyways, keep going until you reach a room with a lot of bouquets in it. Read the letter and head through the passage on the other side (notice that you can’t open the chest in this room). You will find Cyan and he will join you. Go out through the right passage again and check out the glowing spot in the upper-left corner. It’s the key to the chest. Go back in and open it. You will find books that belong Cyan (he is afraid of machines…). Use “Warp” to leave this town.
GETTING GAU
Fly to the Veldt (you will recognize it on the music). Be sure to only have 3 characters in your team. Fight until you run into Gau. Don’t attack him. If you do he will run of. If you wait a bit, he will join you.
GETTING SHADOW (RELM)
Take your party and head for the cave in the south part of the Veldt. Enter it and you will see Interceptor. Follow him into the next screen. In the next screen pick up the “Rage Ring” relic and go through the door. Go down the stairs and go through the passage to your left. If you go all the way left, you will find a “MONSTER-IN-A-BOX”-chest (go around a little bit until you find the way). You will have to fight an “Allo Ver”. He has 8000 HP and is weak against Fire and Holy elemental attacks. He will use “Condemned” quite often. If you win you will be awarded with the “Tiger Fangs”, Sabin’s best weapon. Now go back into the passage and find your way south to a set of stairs. Go down the stairs, through the next 2 rooms. In the following screen you will see a door (if you go down a bit. Keep going down and pick up the “Striker” (VERY IMPORTANT if you want Shadow!!!). Head up again and flip the switch. Go back through the door and go through the new passage. Keep going until you find a save point. Save and heal. The head into the next screen. You will find Shadow (If you didn’t wait for Shadow on the Floating Continent, you will find Relm instead). Suddenly a monster appears…
Boss Battle 29
Name: SR Behemoth, SR Behemoth (undead)
HP: 19000
Weakness: Fire and poison (HOLY)
Earnings: 5 MP, Behemoth Suit and Thunder blade
Recommended Part Level: 34-35
Use “FIRE 3” or “FIRE 2” to get rid of him fast. He will basically use Ice-elemental moves. He has 19000 HP and is weak against FIRE/POISON. “VANISH”/”DOOM” works very well. Just as you think its over, you will be “Back Attacked” by the SR Behemoth’s ghost. This guy has also 19000 HP and is weak against FIRE/HOLY. Don’t use “VANISH”/”DOOM” on him since it doesn’t work. Instead, use a “Phoenix Down” on him.
NOTICE: you party will address Shadow with “HER”! (Wrong programming)
Anyhow you party will take Shadow (Relm) to Thamasa. Head to the Inn and rest. If you go back to Shadow, you will see that he is gone. Take the airship and fly to the upper-left most white dot on the map. That’s the “COLOSSEUM”. Go up and talk to the man, who is standing in front of a door (notice that Ultros is working here). Tell him that you want to fight. You will then be asked which item you want to bet. Choose the “Striker” and fight…Shadow. If you win (you cant control this fight), Shadow will join you.
GETTING LOCKE
Fly northeast from Tzen to a star shaped mountain area. Land in the middle. You will have to build 2 Groups. I recommend having Sabin, Edgar, Celes and Shadow in you first group. Have Mog and 3 other characters of your own choice in the other party. Equip every character. Be sure to have the “Moogle Charm” equipped on Mog. Move up Sabin’s group and step on the switch. Press “Y”-button to change group. Take Mog’s group and head through the new passage. Go up the stairs, go right past the spikes and go down. Step on the switch and change to Sabin’s party. Go right through the right passage, go up and step on the switch. Take Mog’s group and move up. Then head right and down the stairs and step on the switch. Change to Sabin’s group and down the stairs in the lower-right corner. Go left and step on the switch. Take Mog’s group and move up the stairs. Go all the way left and go down the stairs. Move right and jump over to the other side. Move up and jump over the other stones. Step on the switch that is not to far away from the chest (it’s pretty hard to see). Change group. Have Sabin’s group go back to the entrance of THIS room and down. Keep going until you reach the next screen. As you enter the room turn left and go down the other set of stairs to come to another switch. Step on it and change party. Head up the stair to your north and Save at the Save point. Go up and step on the switch. Change party. Have Sabin’s group move up into the previous screen and then have them keep going until you reach the next screen. In this room you will have to jump over the lava. This shouldn’t be too hard if you watch closely. Head into the next screen. Pull the switch to drain the water and change group. Head to the far left to find a switch. Step on it and change party. Move all the way down past a set of stairs (you will come back here soon) until you reach a chest and a dragon…
Boss battle 30 / Dragon #3
Name: Red Dragon
HP: 30000
Weakness: Ice and water
Earnings: 10 MP, Strato
Recommended Part Level: 34-36
This guy uses mostly “FIRE 2” and an attack called “Fire ball”. The strength of these 2 attacks is quite the same (usually does between 500 and 700 damage). But watch out for his “Flare Star” attack, it could do up to 2000 damage on the entire party! He will sometimes use “Flare” or “FIRE 3” too. If this battle is too hard, use “VANISH”/“DOOM”. Other wise use “ICE 3” or “ICE 2”.
Great, 5 dragons left to defeat. Pick up the “Dragon horn” relic and head back to the stair that you went past earlier. Step on the switch in the north and change party. Go down and leave for the next room. Pick up the “Ribbon” relic and go up the stairs in the upper-left corner. Keep going until you reach Sabin’s group. Step on one of the switches further down and change group. Move Sabin’s group on the other switch and then go down. Keep going and you will eventually find Locke. After a long scene, Locke will join you. He will give you a few things he picked up in the cave, including the Phoenix Esper. Go back to the airship and build a team that includes Locke. Fly to Narshe open the locked doors with Locke’s help. Head to the weapon shop and talk to the man. He will give you a special stone. You will be asked in you want the STONE “Ragnarok” or if you want the SWORD “Ragnarok”. The “Ragnarok” stone is actually the “Ragnarok” Esper. It will teach you the most powerful magic in the game: “ULTIMA”! If you take the “Ragnarok” sword, you will get a pretty powerful sword. If you bet the “Ragnarok” sword at the “Coloseum”, you will be able to get the “Illumina”, the most powerful weapon in the game (except it’s power, it will also make your character evade 50 % of all of the enemies attack)! I would recommend getting the “Ragnarok” sword, since there is another way to get the “ULTIMA” spell. Head up the stairs that is located to the right of the relic shop. Head into the house that you see and talk to the man, who is sleeping in the bed. You will get the “Cursed shield”. This shield will give you all status ailments during battle, but if you fight 255 battles with the “Cursed shield” equipped, it will transform into the “Paladin shield”, the best shield in the game. Equip the “Cursed shield” together with the “Ribbon” relic, to get rid of the most ailments. When you got the “Paladin shield”, equip it on a character. After that you have earned 100 MP, that character will have learned “ULTIMA”. Equip it on the next character to teach him/her “ULTIMA”.
Now try to teach your party “LIFE 3”. You will need it later.
GETTING TERRA (second try)
Save and fly to Mobliz. Enter the lower-left most house in the city. Notice the dog that disappears behind the bookshelf. Go behind the bookshelf to find a hidden passage. You will see a short scene. Then a boy will come running and tell you that Phunbaba is back. Head up and check the pot to get an “Ether”. Then, leave the house.
Boss Battle 31
Name: Phunbaba
HP: 26000
Weakness: Poison
Earnings:
Recommended Part Level: 35-38
Do the same thing you did last time you fought him. After a while he will use “Baba Breath”. It will blow away a few characters from the screen. Terra will come and join you in the next try. Pound him hard until he dies. Watch out for his “BOLT 3”.
After a short scene, Terra will join you. Great! Now what should we do next? What do you say about defeating another dragon? Head west from Maranda to the Opera. Go and talk to the Impresario (he is in the place where you sat and saw Celes’ performance earlier in the game). He will tell you that a dragon is sitting on the stage. Head through the upper-right door. CAST “FLOAT” on EVERY CHARACTER. Then flip the 3rd button from left to reach the stage.
Boss Battle 32 / Dragon #4
Name: Dirt Dragon
HP: 28500
Weakness: Wind and water
Earnings: 10 MP, Magus Rod
Recommended Part Level: 38-39
This guy is probably the easiest of the 8 dragons. His physical attacks are rather weak compared to the other dragons. Only his earth-elemental attacks could get dangerous. But that shouldn’t be any problems if you have cast “FLOAT” on your self. Just watch out for his “50 Gs” attack, since it neutralizes the “FLOAT” spell. If he uses it, just cast “FLOAT” again (multi-target it with “R”/”L” button). Use “VANISH”/“DOOM” if he is too strong.
Great, only 4 dragons left.
THE “OFFERING” RELIC
Save and fly to Figaro Castle. Enter it and rest. Now go down to the first basement and tell him to head to Figaro/Kohlingen. During the journey, you will bump into something. Tell him that you want to stop and explore. Go to the jail and go into the right-most jail. Pick up the “Ether” and the “Wing Edge”. Go through the right-most door and you will find a chest. It’s another “MONSTER-IN-A-BOX” chest.
Boss Battle 33
Name: Master Pug
HP: 22000
Weakness: Varies
Earnings: Graedus
Recommended Part Level: 39-40
This guy looks like Tonberry (you might know if you are a real FF-fan). This guy could get VERY dangerous. He will move against your party and when reaches your party, he will use an attack called “Cleaver”, doing VERY heavy damage (it did 8000 damage on me!). Luckily, he will only use it on one character at a time. After using “Cleaver”, he will move back and begin to move up to you again. Also, watch out for his “W Wind” attack. He will use “Wall Change” quite often. “Wall Change” changes his weakness. If you are on a low level, I will only recommend 1 thing: “VANISH”/“DOOM”!
After the battle, you will get the “Graedus” it the best Dirk in the game (I think). Anyhow, head back to the previous room and go through the left-most door to get the “Doom darts”. The go left and keep going until you reach a Save point. Save and go up the stairs to your left to reach the Ancient castle. Go up but don’t enter the castle. Instead, head left and go up. You will come to room with a chest in it. Be aware since it is another “MONSTER-IN-A-BOX chest
Boss Battle 34
Name: Katana Soul
HP: 37620
Weakness: poison
Earnings: 5 MP, Offering
Recommended Part Level: 39-40
This guy will mostly use skeans and edges. Use “VANISH”/“DOOM” to get rid of him fast.
ANCIENT CASTLE
First of all, equip the “Offering” together with the “Genji Glove” on a character. Now leave this room and enter the Ancient Castle through the main gate. Keep going until you reach the Odin statue. Check it and it will transform into a “Magicite”. Go down 5 steps from the right throne and press “X”-button to find a hidden switch. Go into the room in the upper-right corner of the room to find a “Blizzard Orb” and “Gold Hairpin”. Go back into the previous room and go through the door in the right part of the room. Check the queen’s diary in the bookshelf and go down the stairs (pick up the “X-Ether” in the bucket before you leave into the next screen). Go up to the blue creature to fight the Blue Dragon.
Boss Battle 35 / Dragon #5
Name: Blue Dragon
HP: 26900
Weakness: lightning
Earnings: 10 MP, Scimitar
Recommended Part Level: 40
Quite early into the battle, he will use “Clean Sweep”, doing up to 1000 damage on your entire party. Other ways, he will only use “Acid Rain”. It will do up to 500 damage. After that, it will decrease you HP gradually. As usual: use “VANISH”/“DOOM” as you last hope.
Go up to the statue of a girl and check it out. Odin will transform into Raiden. Now head back to Figaro Castle and tell the man to continue the journey. Then head back to the airship. By now you should have learned “LIFE 3” (it is VERY important on your next mission). If you haven’t reached level 40 yet, then I would recommend that (even higher if possible). Fly south from NIKEAH and enter the tower that is surrounded by mountains. SAVE!
FANATIC’S TOWER
As you enter the tower, you will see Strago going around like a zombie. Just ignore him for now (but remember that he is here). Go up into the next screen. Now, this tower has 5 parts and it’s a pretty long way to go. Worst of all: you can only use magic. I would recommend having Mog in your party and having he “Moogle Charm” equipped. Go up until you see a room on the right side. Go in and pick up the “Safety bit” relic. Check the wall to the right of the chest and you will hear a sound. Go out and you will see a new door (on the floor below). Enter it to get the “Air anchor” (one of Edgar’s tools). Then head up to the second part of this tower. Go up and you will see another door. Go inside and pick up the “Genji Shield”. In the 3rd part you find a room with a “Stunner” in it and …
Boss Battle 36 / dragon #6
Name: White Dragon
HP: 18500
Weakness: None
Earnings: 10 MP, Pearl Lance
Recommended Part Level: 40-41
Watch out, this guy uses “PEARL” VERY often. I would recommend using “VANISH”/“DOOM” instantly.
Now go to the next part of the tower, enter the room you see and pick up the “Force Armor”. Go up to the final part of the tower, the roof, and enter the door you see. Open the chest to get the “Gem Box” relic. EQUIP IT (on the person that knows “LIFE 3”)!!! Also be sure to have the “Force Armor” equipped. Go out and it’s time for…
Boss Battle 37
Name: Magi Master
HP: 50000
Weakness: Varies
Earnings: 10 MP, Megalixir
Recommended Part Level: 40-41
This is probably the most annoying boss in the game. He has a very high HP and MP rating (50000 on both). If you don’t want him to use magic, then use “BERSERK”. His physical attacks usually do around 600 (more or less) damage points. The most important thing in this battle is: CAST “LIFE 3” ON SO MANY CHARACTERS AS POSSIBLE. It will bring a wounded character back automatically. After that he/she isn’t wounded any more you will have to cast “LIFE 3” again. Have always “LIFE 3” cast on at least on character. This bastard will cast “ULTIMA” when he dies and it will surely kill your entire party (unless you are on a high level). The best attack to use is “ULTIMA” and “FLARE” since they are non-elemental. “VANISH”/“DOOM” doesn’t work.
Now, go all the way down and leave the Fanatic’s tower. I strongly recommend saving!!!
GETTING RELM
Fly to Jidoor (located in the west part of the world, north of the opera house). Go to the north part of the city and enter Owzer’s house. Go up and check the lamps to turn on the light. Go up the stairs on your left side and check the painting in the lower left part of the room. It will attack you (what?). You will have to fight 2 “Dahlings” (they have 3580 HP each). Enter the door that appears and go down the stairs. Go left past the painting. If you come too close to the painting, it will attack you (what the…). It’s just an ordinary enemy. Keep going and you will see 2 doors. If you go through the first door, you will get a “Moogle Suit”. Go out and enter the second door. You will come to 3 weird doors. Go behind them, to find the “Relic Ring” relic. Go through the left-most door (the others will take you back to the previous room). Keep going and you will eventually come to a room with a lot of floating chest. Stand in their shadow to bring them down. You will have to fight a group of enemies. You will finally be awarded with a gift. The chests contain 2000 GP, “Potion”, an “Ether” and a “Remedy”. Check the armor painting to fight it. Just attack it with fire-spells and go through the new passage. Save and go through the RIGHT door not the left (it leads back to a previous room). Go up and you will se Relm.
Boss Battle 38
Name: Chadarnook,
HP: 56000, 30000
Weakness: Fire (Holy)
Earnings: 6 MP
Recommended Part Level: 40-42
Just pound him with “FIRE 3” and have the person with the “Offering”/“Genji Glove”, attack physically. During the battle, he will transform into undead form (he has 30000 HP then). Keep it up and he will eventually go down. “VANISH”/“DOOM” works very well.
Go to the bookshelf to your right and pick up the Starlet Esper. Great, now leave Jidoor.
GETTING STRAGO (and his “Grand Train” Lore)
Have Relm in your party and fly to Fanatic’s tower. Strago will come back to sense and will join your party again. SAVE!
Fly to Thamasa (with Relm and Strago in your party). Relm will find Strago’s old friend, Gungho, badly hurt. He tells Strago, that he was hurt by Hidon (a beast that Strago and Gungho used to hunt). Fly a little to the north and enter Ebot’s rock. Keep moving through this place until you find 22 coral pieces. When you have found 22 (or more) pieces of coral, go to the open chest and talk to it. It will eat the corals and then let you pass. Hove up and you will find Hidon…
Boss Battle 39
Name: Hidon, Hidonites x4
HP: (Hidon) 25000, (Hidonites) 3500
Weakness: (Hidon) Fire, Pearl/Holy and Earth, (Hidonites) varies
Earnings:
Recommended Part Level: 41-43
First attack the “Hidonites” with physical attacks. When they go down, Hidon will (hopefully) use “Grand Train”. Strago will learn it after the battle. Attack Hidon with “FIRE 3”/“PEARL”. He should go down pretty fast. He will mostly use “Grand Train” and Poison-elemental attacks. “VANISH”/“DOOM” does not work.
(NOTICE: if Strago didn’t learn “Grand Train”, talk to Gungho until he says that Hidon has appeared at the Ebot’s Rock again. Fly to Ebot’s rock, feed the chest with 22 corals and fight Hidon again)
After a cinema scene, head back to the airship.
CYAN’S DREAM
Fly to Doma Castle (west of the Veldt) with Cyan in your party. Rest in the resting room. 3 boys will appear. They will tell you that they have taken Cyan’s soul. The party will then jump into Cyan’s soul. Save at the save point and search for the 2 other party members and make you way to the boys…
Boss Battle 40
Name: Curley, Larry and Moe
HP: (Curley) 15000, (Larry) 10000, (Moe) 12500
Weakness: (Curley) None, (Larry) Fire, (Moe) None
Earnings: 6 MP
Recommended Part Level: 42-44
This trio is pretty simple to defeat. First of all attack Curley (the pink one), since he/she can revive and heal the others. Then head for the other 2. This shouldn’t be too hard. “VANISH”/“DOOM” works very well (but remember to get rid of Curley first).
Go through the door and you will find your self on a train. Go left to a save point. Save and continue left. Flip the purple switch twice and pick up the “Genji Glove” relic (equip it). Go to the left part of this carriage and pick up the “lump of metal”. Go to the middle of the carriage and put it into the chest. Now go past it and pick up the “Flame Shield”. Flip the purple switch to your left and remember the combination (remember which of the chest are closed). Go into the next carriage and pick up the “X-potion” and the “Ice Shield”. Now go to the right-most switch (I will call it switch 1, the one next to it is switch 2 etc) and flip it. Flip the third switch and then the first one again. Flip the second switch, then the first one again and finally the third one. Now go past the chest (that had the “Ice Shield in it) and go left. Close the chests that where closed in the previous carriage and flip the purple switch. Go through the passage that opened and save at the save point in the next carriage. Go into the locomotive and then leave it. You will find your self in a mine and… you are wearing Magitek armor. Go down into the next screen and the go back. Keep going until you fall of a bridge. You will then be in Doma Castle. Owain and Elayne will appear and tell you to save Cyan. SAVE and go to the Throne room.
Boss Battle 41
Name: Wrex Soul, Soul Saver
HP: (Wrex Soul) 23066, (Soul Saver) 3066 each
Weakness: Ice
Earnings: 7 MP, Pod Braclet
Recommended Part Level: 42-44
Wrex Soul will use an attack called “Zinger” and will posses the body of one character. Ignore the “Soul Savers”. Cast “LIFE 3” on everybody and then kill them of one at a time until Wrex Soul appears again. Attack him with strong ice-spell of physical attacks. “VANISH”/“DOOM” does not work.
After a short cinema scene, Cyan will join you again. Go back to the Throne room and pick up the Alexander Esper. Then go back to the airship (don’t forget to save).
By now, you should have 13 characters, so lets go and get the last one…
GETTING GOGO
Fly to the small triangular island in the upper-right corner of the map. Go around until you run into a “Zone Eater”. He will use “Engulf” quite often. Just heal and wait until he has engulfed everyone. You will then find your self in a cave. Don’t go up it will lead back to the world map. Instead, go down, into the next screen. Go left out on the bridge. Look towards the other bridge on the other side and press “X”-button to jump over to it. The green guys will push you down. If they do, pick up the “Ether” and the “Red Jacket”. Then go right, step on the switch and go up the stairs. You will be in the room with the bridges again. Pick up the “Genji armor” and the “Magical Brush” and make you way to the left. Don’t forget to pick up the “Fake Mustache” at the end of this room. Enter the next screen and SAVE at the save point. Then go through the door to the left (it’s pretty hard to see). You are supposed to make your way through this room without getting smashed. Having the “Sprint Shoes” equipped should help a lot. Pick up the “Zephir Cape”, “Hero Ring” and the “Tack Star”. Go through the next screen and you will eventually reach a room with many open chests in it. Step on the switch in the middle of the room and enter the next room (don’t forget to pick up the “Thunder Shield”). In the next screen, you will find Gogo. Talk to him and he will join you. Use “WARP”!
Let’s see now… there is actually nothing more to do (except a few optional things). I would recommend teaching the most important spells such as “ULTIMA”, “FLARE”, “CURE 3”, “LIFE 2 and “LIFE 3” to as many characters as possible (even if they aren’t in you current party. I would also recommend reaching at least level 45 before entering Kefka’s tower. Be sure that you have found the “Offering” relic and the “Gem Box” relic. Having the “Paladin Shield” makes the final boss a lot easier (to get it, fight 255 battles with the “Cursed Shield” equipped.
If you want, you can take Sabin and Gau and fly to a house, that is located north from Doma Castle. You will see a cinema scene about Gau and his father. It is pretty funny but also sorrowful.
Anyhow, when you find your self, strong enough, fly to Kefka’s tower that is located north of Albrook.
KEFKA’S TOWER
(NOTICE: whenever you want, you might use the “WARP” spell to escape from Kefka’s Tower)
Hoover above Kefka’s tower and press “O”-button. You will have to split up in 3 groups. I name them group 1,2 and 3. Take the first group and go until you find you find a chest with a “Coronet” in it. Go left through the orange path. Keep going until you reach a room with the “Fixed Dice” in it and then enter the next screen. Keep going south and go through the orange path. Now press “Y”-button to change to group 2. Go through the first screen and pick up the “Minerva” in the second screen. In the lower part of the screen you will find 2 doors, one leading north and one leading south. Go up pick up the “Tack Star” and go back to the previous screen. Go south and go left. Enter the left-most toilet, cast “FLOAT” on the entire party and talk to the blue creature.
Boss Battle 42
Name: Atma
HP: 55000
Weakness: None
Earnings: 8 MP
Recommended Part Level: 45-46
This guy looks like the ATMA WEAPON you fought earlier on the floating continent but this guy is stronger. Still he is not a super boss. He uses strong spells that easily can do up to 2000 damage points. But this guy shouldn’t be too hard if you have the “Offering” relic. Have the person who has the “Offering” relic, have the “Flame Shield” equipped. It will protect him/her against Fire-elemental attacks (fire-elemental attacks will heal you and Ice-elemental attacks will be reduced to 50%). His earth-elemental attacks shouldn’t hurt you since you have cast “FLOAT” on you party. “VANISH”/“DOOM” works well.
Save and heal at the save point. Go down and enter the next screen. Just go through the next room and enter the following room you see 2 pipes. The left-most pipe leads further into Kefka’s tower and the other pipe leads back. In the next screen, pick up the “Force Shield” and go down. Pick up the “Force Shield” in the lower-left part of this area. Go through the orange passage and pick up the “Ribbon” and step on the switch. Press “Y”-button and change to the third party. Go down and pick up the “Red Cap”. Go up through the door and pick up the “Nutkin Suit” and the “Gauntlet” go back and keep going down until you reach another door. Enter it and go through the orange passage. Pick up the “Hero Ring and leave this room by going north. In the next screen, save at the save point and go left.
Boss Battle 43
Name: Inferno, Striker and Rough
HP: (Inferno) 30800, (Striker) 11000 and (Rough) 8000
Weakness: (Inferno) Lightning, (Striker) Fire and (Rough) Ice
Earnings: 8 MP
Recommended Part Level: 45-46
Seem familiar, huh! Just concentrate on the main body and attack it physical attacks or lightning-based attacks (if you have “ULTIMA” or “METEOR” then use them). “VANISH”/“DOOM” does not work. “SLOW 2” and “HASTE 2” will make this battle a whole lot easier. This shouldn’t be too hard.
Go back to the Save point. Save and heal. Go left and enter the next screen. Just go through the next screen and enter the following screen. Pick up the “Megilixr” and the “Rainbow Brush”. Now stand at the red glowing light, check it out and change to group 1. Keep going until you come to a door that is locked. Change to group 2 and leave the room. Head right and enter the door. Keep going until you reach a red creature.
Boss Battle 44 / Dragon #7
Name: Gold Dragon
HP: 32400
Weakness: Water
Earnings: 10 MP, Crystal Orb
Recommended Part Level: 45-47
This guy will only use lightning moves. Just keep pounding him until he goes down. “VANISH”/“DOOM” works well.
Go up through the left door and keep going until you reach a switch. Step on it and change to the 3rd group. Go through the door you see and keep going until you reach a green creature.
Boss Battle 45 / Dragon #8
Name: Skull Dragon
HP: 32800
Weakness: Fire and Pearl/Holy
Earnings: 10 MP, Muscle Belt
Recommended Part Level: 45-47
This guy will mostly use “Condemned”. Attack him with “FIRE 3” or “HOLY”. “VANISH”/“DOOM” works well.
After that you have beaten this dragon the Dragon Seal will be broken. You will receive the final Esper, Crusader. Go up through the right door and keep going until you reach a switch. Step on it and change to the 1st party. Go through the door, step on the switch and go left. Go down, change to the second party and move down a little. Change to the first party again and push down the weight. Go back in and step on the switch further up. Take the 2nd party again and go up the stairs. Keep going up and enter the next screen. Step on the switch and go right. Go down, change to the 3rd party and move them down. Change back to the 2nd party and push down the weight. Go back in to the previous room and step on the switch further up. Once again, change to the 3rd party and go up the stairs. Keep going up and step on the switch. Then go down and step on the switch in the next screen. 2 new passages will open. Now move up the 2nd party back to the previous screen and into the next screen (go up).
Boss Battle 46
Name: Guardian
HP: 60000
Weakness: Lightning and Water
Earnings: 7 MP
Recommended Part Level: 45-47
This guy is pretty hard to defeat. He will use certain programs, which will let him use the attacks of the earlier bosses (such as Ultros). I would recommend not wasting any time. Attack him with your most powerful attacks (“BOLT 3”, “ULTIMA”, “FLARE”, “METEOR” etc). “VANISH”/“DOOM” wont work.
Save and change to the 1st party. Go down into the next screen and enter the door to you left. Keep going until you run into a statue.
Super Boss Battle 2 / Boss Battle 47
Name: Doom
HP: 63000
Weakness: Pearl/Holy
Earnings: 10 MP, Sky Render
Recommended Part Level: 45-48
Your 2nd Super Boss Battle. This guy will mostly use Ice-elemental attack. If you have the “Ice Shield” equipped, he should heal you most of the time. Half way through the battle, he will change his tactics and will begin to use “Force Field” and “Demon Rage”. The “Force Field” will make a certain elemental attack ineffectual. “Demon Rage” is a very powerful attack easily does more than 5000 damage points on one character. Seems hard… But hey you can still use “VANISH”/“DOOM”!!!
Save at the Save point and go into the next screen. Step on the switch and change to group 2. Move them down and go through the door to your right keep going until you run into the second statue.
Super Boss Battle 3 / Boss Battle 48
Name: Goddess
HP: 44000
Weakness: None
Earnings: 10 MP, Excalibur
Recommended Part Level: 45-48
This Super Boss is actually a whole lot easier than Doom. Just keep pounding her until she goes down. Just watch out for her “Charm” attack. If a character is affected by it, he/she will turn against you (basically the same effect as confusion, but it cant be cured unless you kill him/her of). “VANISH”/“DOOM” works very well.
Save at the Save point and go up. Step on the switch and change to the 3rd party.
Go up to the save point and heal. Enter the next screen, go left and then go down into the next screen. Keep going until you reach the last statue.
Super Boss Battle 4 / Boss Battle 49
Name: Poltergeist
HP: 58000
Weakness: Poison
Earnings: 10 MP, Aura Lance
Recommended Part Level: 45-48
Watch out, this guy is very dangerous. He uses strong attacks that easily can wipe you out (such as the “Blaster”). “VANISH”/“DOOM” would be the best way to get rid of him.
After that you have defeated him go up and use it (SAVE, since this is the final save point in this game). Re-equip everyone with the best equipment and relics. Then jump down through the hole and step on the switch (I recommend that you are on at least level 45). You will then be warped to Kefka. After a long conversation with Kefka, you will have to order in which order your characters should fight. You will have first of all to fight a Sub-boss. This battle will be split up in 3 different parts. After each round, new characters will replace the dead characters. When you have defeated them, it’s finally time for the last battle…
Final Boss Battle / Boss Battle 50
Name: Kefka
HP: about 70000
Weakness: None
Earnings: None
Recommended Part Level: 45+
It’s finally payback time, so let’s kick Kefka’s ass. He will probably use “Fallen one” (it will reduce your HP to 1) on your party pretty early into the battle. So heal with “CURE 3”. It would be a good idea to cast “LIFE 3” on everybody, in case that he uses “Fallen one” again. Use “ULTIMA” if you have it or attack with each characters speciality (BUM RUSH, CHAIN SAW, MORPH, THROW, SWDTECH etc). This battle should not be too hard actually, if you are on level 45 and above). Just heal when needed and he will eventually go down.
(NOTICE: Kefka has only 70000 HP. That is pretty low for a final boss. In other games, such as FF7, there are enemies that have more than 1000000 HP. )
Now watch the long cinema scene. Congrats, you have beaten FF6 (probably the easiest FF game that was released in the US).

Tips and FAQs
Leveling up
Ø If you want train a
certain person extra hard, then kill of the rest of the party and just fight
with the person you want to train. You will earn up to 4 times more EXP than
usual. Do this with Edgar, the first time you come to South Figaro, since he
can attack all enemies at once with his “Auto Crossbow”. If you get him to high
level (I was at level 25), then the game shouldn’t be so hard, since some of
the upcoming characters will be 1 or 2 levels above your strongest character’s
level (so Sabin will be at level 26 or 27). It’s a pretty high level, since the
recommended level at this point is about 13-14.
Ø
Best Place To Level Up In World 1: Floating continent
Ø
Best Place To Gain Money In World 1: Floating continent
Ø
Best Place To Gain MP In World 1: Fly the Airship to the
triangular island in the upper-right corner of the map. You will encounter many
“Leafers” and “Dark Winds” there. Some times you will encounter an invisible
enemy, called “Intangir”. Use “DOOM” on him to gain 10 MP. He will cast “METEO”
before he dies, doing about 900 damage to the person who killed him.
Ø
Best Place To Level Up In World 2: Forest that is located
north of the Veldt. You will fight Tyrannosaurs and Brachosaurs. They are very
dangerous but they give tons of experience. The Brachosaurs will sometimes drop
the valuable “Economizer” relic.
Ø
Best Place To Gain Money In World 2: Fly to the desert south
of Maranda and fight the “Cactrots” and the “Hoovers”. If you win you will be
awarded with 10,000 GP.
Ø Best Place To Gain MP In
World 1: Fly
to the desert south of Maranda and Fight the “Cactrots”. You will have to use
special moves such as BLITZ, TOOLS, SWDTECH etc, since the Cactrots” have a
very high evade rate. If you win you will be awarded with 10 MP.
Deadly Relic Combos
You might already know
that each character can equip 2 relics on them self. There a few combinations
that make the game a whole lot easier (a little bit TOO easy).
Ø
DRAGON BOOTS / DRAGON HORN:
The “Dragon Boots” changes the “Fight” command into “Jump”. “Jump” is more
powerful than “Fight”. If you combine it with the “Dragon Horn” relic, you will
use “Jump” multiple times.
Ø
GEM BOX / ECONOMIZER:
the “Gem Box” relic allows you to use 2 spells at once. If you combine it with
the “Economizer” relic, you will be able to cast 2 spells and only use 2 MP.
That means that you can use 999 “ULTIMA” spells without using MP recovery
items.
Ø
GENJI GLOVE / OFFERING:
the “Genji Glove” relic allows you to hold 1 weapon in each hand. Combine if
with the “Offering” relic to attack 4 times with each weapon. That’s means that
your character will hit the enemy 8 times per turn. If you have the “ATMA
WEAPON” and the “RAGNAROK” equipped, it will do some real heavy damage. If you
are on level 99, you could almost do 80000 damage points on the enemy. That’s
enough to kill every boss in this game within one turn, except Kefka and the
Statues. But even they should go down very fast.
REMEMBER:
If you have these 3 combos, you will find this game TOO easy.
