Robin of Sherwood was written and created by Richard Carpenter. It was produced by Paul Knight for Goldcrest and ran from 1983-85. In the UK it aired on HTV and in the USA on Showtime and PBS. It ran for two seasons starring Michael Praed as Robin of Sherwood, but when he left after the second season, Jason Connery became the lead as Robert of Huntington and eventually Robin of Sherwood. The Lady Marion was played by Judi Trott, Herne the Hunter by John Abineri, Will Scarlet by Ray Winstone, Little John by Clive Mantle, Brother Tuck by Phil Rose, Much the millers son by Peter Llewellyn Williams, Nasir the saracen by Mark Ryan, the Sheriff by Nicholas Grace and Guy of Gisburne by Robert Addie. The series was fairly different from any Robin Hood productions before it, and in many opinions, the best yet. The soundtrack written by Clannad, helped create the strong mythical and medieval atmosphere and if the company producing the series hadn't gone suddenly broke, who knows how many more seasons we all would have enjoyed....

You can find the series to purchase at a couple places online. It might be wise to try www.ebay.com for videos, dvds, books, photos etc. or www.networkvideos.co.uk for sets of the series on vhs and dvd (and for us Americans out there, they've just come out with US format dvds!).
