Buffy's Got Mail

Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own any of the characters that you recognize in this story. If I did, they would all be happy and Buffy and Angel would never have broken up. If Joss is ever interested in selling though, well, I’d be more that happy to take Angel off his hands.  Oh, and the concept belongs to the people behind You've Got Mail.
Feedback: Yes! I cannot stress this enough. I need my feedback!!! So read this fic, then tell me how much you loved it.
Part 7

Buffy sat down in front of the computer, reading the recent e-mail she had received. She smiled and hit the reply button, then began typing in her response. About a half-hour later she heard voices in the hallway. Willow and Oz. She quickly sent it and signed off, then clambered off to bed before they caught her.

Angel had just returned home. It was just before sunset, but he wasn’t tired. Cordelia was out at another audition and Doyle was in Manhattan until the next afternoon. He sat down in front of his PC and quickly booted off. Within minutes he was in his inbox, connected to the net. He found the message from Claddagh28 and began reading.

"A traditional Irish wedding band?! I wish I had known that before… My boyfriend (at the time) gave it to me. Do u mind if I ask u the same question? Since we decided no specifics I won’t give you his name, but he was Irish too. Anyhow, we had a very special relationship and that’s why I chose Claddagh, so yes, it does have special significance 2 me. Bye!" *Buffy in voice-over*

Angel hit the reply button and began typing away. When he was done, he sent the message and then went to bed.

***************

Willow had gone to bed and was fast asleep. Buffy looked at the computer longingly until she could resist no more. Finally, she crept over to the computer, turning it back on and logging in to her hotmail account once again.

A new message greeted her on the screen. *That was fast,* she thought with a surprised smile.

"You sound like the break-up was recently. Was it rough? Sorry if I’m prying, but I’m suffering from a recent break-up also. Mine was very rough. I got my claddagh ring when I was pretty young. I inherited a pair from my parents. I kept my father’s and gave my mother’s to my ex-girlfriend before we broke up. Our relationship was very special to me, but it had to end…anyway, no specifics. Bye." *Angel in voice-over*

Buffy wasted no time in sending her response…

One month later,

Buffy stood outside the door to her dorm. "Good night," she whispered to Riley.

"Good night," he whispered back.

He leaned in to kiss her, and she kissed him back in a short, soft kiss. After a few seconds she pulled away with a smile. He waved and walked away. She went inside her dorm room.

She spotted the computer and smiled. She quickly ran over to it and logged on. She went through her inbox, skimming the stream of messages until she saw what she was looking for. Irish1753@aol.com

"I can’t tell you how much I enjoy getting your messages. I come home, log on to the net, and watch excitedly as it tallies my new messages. Then I skim through them until I find your name, the one addressed to me personally. And it’s really nice to read your usual bright and cheery messages. How are your classes coming along? Are you still dating that guy you mentioned? Things have been pretty slow for me lately…" *Angel in voice-over*

Buffy smiled, hitting reply. He was so nice, she hoped he was like that in person. *It would be so nice to meet him in person one day,* she thought happily, then shook her head. *This is stupid! You can’t fall in love over the internet! And who says I’m in love anyway? No, I am definitely not in love.*

She sent the message, than returned to her other, less interesting messages.

Angel sat in the small French restaurant that Kate had picked out. He was sitting across from her empty chair, waiting for her to return from the bathroom. He looked at the empty plate across from him. He shook his head slightly. Dinner was going to cost him a mint! He looked back to his own plate that had barely been touched. Kate still didn’t know about his vampirism and he intended to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Kate returned from the bathroom, beaming as she sat down across from him. "So there’s this little affair coming up this weekend. It’s in San Francisco and we’re going."

Angel looked at her, surprised. "We are?" He asked.

She nodded firmly and he sighed, not in the mood for an argument. "Okay," he consented. "We can go."

Sunnydale, the next day

"Buffy, one of my professors suggested that I go to this function in San Francisco. Do you want to come with me? It’s this weekend."

Buffy smiled. "I’d love to."
