Latchkey Kids was the first full album by the Latchkey Kids, and their first release in, well, a few months. Featuring most of the hits you've come to know and love recorded all in one-take at the Richardson's home, plus some new instant classics! Including, "White Noise" and the "Russian Song" featuring never-before recorded hit(s) such as "Yeah Right"! --- The Latchkey Kids migrated to the Richardson's home in the summer of 2002 with the mission to practice for their concert on August 2, 2002. Little did they know, the object of these sessions would be the seminal release, Latchkey Kids, which would go on to define the annals of punk rock as being the most absurd album ever released. Producer, singer, and guitar player Joe oversaw the madness and added his touch to the already raw recordings, making them a raw-er picture of the punk rock band in their prime. Most songs just eclipsing the two-minute mark, the album features twenty-four songs but does not lose the essence of a compact album, on.. compact disc! Yes. The album's not too long, folks. Here's some highlights from the album. John's background singing on "The (Greatest Song on this Record)" Joe's voice-crackingly horrible singing on "Placing Blame" The songs on the CD that are in E flat tuning! Only you can find this out for yourself by buying it. Tim's bass playing on the ENTIRE RECORD, especially on "IH8TEU" and EVERY OTHER SONG. "Devil." Speaks for itself. It really is quite a triumph for you guys. I'm serious. It's got a really good mix of old favorites and awesome new songs (my favorites are "(Yeah) Let's Go" and "My Name is Bob") As we Stuntmen are preparing to start recording, this is an inspiration. Word. Keep up the good work." Dave "Thug" Allen from Lemon Scented Death - "This CD makes me laugh, cry, party, and vomit (in a good way) all at the same time. Once I bought it, my arthritis left immediately, and it also cured my vision 100%. This CD features great hits, such as "(Yeah) Let's Go" (my personal favorite) and "My Name is Bob." They do a great cover titled "Placing Blame." Their only possibly weak song is the "Hardcore Song," (still a classic) but it's on the cd so many times, you hardly even notice it after a while. The Latchkey Kids definately have their own sound that nobody could possibly hope to steal for their own. I'd suggest you buy a CD and get to one of their shows at some point in your life. They'll definately keep you moving when you see them live. I also like how they make music without constant swearing, that's tricky." Garett Cassidy from Lemon Scented Death - "The new LKK CD was really awesome, not only is the CD really good but they also put on a really good live show which I highly recommend going to see. It was a very good record for a really good band all the songs were good even the Hardcore Song like five times haha well can't wait to see you guys again!" --- After Latchkey Kids... You'd be suprised how well it did. By our standards, anyway. People actually enjoyed the songs; Garrett's mom told me she even got "(Yeah) Let's Go!" stuck in her head and sang it to her children when, yeah, they needed to go. So, when it came time to make more CDs for the listening public, Joe added a few bonus songs to the mix, including the new one "Monroeville Fight Song," and others. This enabled the listening public to hear more Latchkey songs before the next album came out. Actually, every CD was different, as some had a mix of old rarities and other stuff, when some just had "MFS" and that was it. So, it was an adventure. Anyway, at this point the Latchkey Kids began writing new songs including Joe's "Monroeville Fight Song!" and "Everything" and John's "Let's Just Be Friends." They prepared for a new record. Latchkey Kids Albums, Back to Latchkey Home --- The Latchkey Kids began their prodigous, prolific, and precocious career with a pair of highly acclaimed EPs, Advertising World and White Noise. They featured the songs that had made the Latchkey Kids famous; Advertising World featured the best of the best of the Kids' songs and White Noise added a few new ones plus two remixed versions from their first EP. Though it was unfortunate that they weren't able to release a full album before the release of Latchkey Kids, we're blessed with the two first CDs, which feature lovely production and good all-around music. Yay. --- |
