N
ew York CityNew Yawk, New Yawk..... The town so nice they named it twice..... I can think of one word to describe NY.....INTENSE. We spent 3 days there.... After we met the opening act we carried for the rest of the tour, Lamb, it was time to go exploring the Big Apple...The very first thing I did was hop my ass on the subway and head for the Village to find a cyber cafe to get in touch with my friends.... well....no such luck, but I DID find an excellent bagel shop..... As I wandered about in Astor Place and the West Village, a song kept running in my head.... it goes......
"I've
been here since ī81
thatīs a long time
And Iīve seen all there is
to see
Had a space on Astor Place
had it all once
Now these streets are my
reality
Because New York City...
donīt mean nothing
just a good place when
youīre running
Lights they cut so bright...
make you bleed
Neon children live their
lives there....
Mad magicians....
tinsel nightmares..
still ya know what...
never gonna leave......
It goes on
from there..... I swear I walked 30 miles in 3 days, exploring
Soho, the Bowery, and Midtown Manhattan....never made it to the
upper East Side or Central Park... maybe next time.... Iīm still
thinking about moving there, and getting a job on
Broadway.....maybe my puppy dog will have to learn how to crap on
concrete...... I found myself sitting in the hotel room at noon
on Monday, feeling kinda adventurist, after returning from the
Village, so..I ran to the local drug store and bought some hair
stuff.......ended up with two huge blonde streaks in my
hair....... Isn't NY fun! There was another band in our
hotel...Brazil's Sepulthra (or something like that). You wouldn't
have known it, though...no busses (the Gusgus Bus had to live in
Joisey..... poor thing.....) Anyway...the venue was one block south of
Times Square, which we walked through on our way there......it
was COOL......(Times Square, that is) My best buddy Tricia showed
up with a friend Bill...that was cool...havenīt seen her in a
friggin YEAR, since she moved to Canaduh, then Joisey.....she
lives in Spotswood, btw....a place named after a dogīs
boner....... LMAO. Some fartknocker kyped my gloves at the Supper
Club..... must have been the dude with purple hair..... That
pissed me off....I had JUST trained the gloves to conform to the
contours of my hands when they ran away..... The actress Janeane
Garafalo was hanging out in the venue that night.... that was
cool....4AD threwe a party for us in SoHo after the gig...that
was cool...Saw the Siggi/Stephan movie for the first
time...here's a hint, guys....camera angles high...not
low...anyway... Baldur, the manager/cheerleader has a girlfriend
named Ceecee... she showed up in NY that night...she's cool...
a Canaduhian/Icelandix mix.. exotic... LOL. Went
exploring more the next day, invading the Empire State Building,
Rockefeller Plaza for the Canadhuian Embassy, among
others... Marko and I ended up at the bar where his lil
brother the Actor works... It was pretty cool...in the window box
behind me, there was a bunch of film.... all old porno flicks..
LOL Our waitress has another job, too...Sarah is the assistant
manager for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones... Later,
after sitting on the roof of the hotel enjoying a little party
the hotel management was throwing (hotel roofs in New York are SO
COOL at night.... all the lights, and the noise of the streets is
way below you...), we went to some little dive in SoHo so Steph
could DJ... I had to escape, running off to the Bowery to
find the subway back to Midtown and our hotel.... Hmmmmm... Mayor
Rudy must have cleaned the city up..... no graffiti on the
subway..... not a thug or bum in sight........ good job,
dude......
One last thing....
Lisa...... ya owe me an explanation. I even
emailed you the hotelīs phone number.... nothing. Not even a
call. (make up some lame excuse about working...I'll
understand.....(grins))
Next stop.......Bahston!
