Pomona:
The Glass House
Wow..........the final night of the tour............ It CAN'T be over already........ and I write this 6 weeks later, after it all sinks in....
So, we load onto the bus for one more day of dealing with Dickie Fut, and head for Pomona, like as in the place the Germans invaded in the movie "1941", according to John Belushi... We end up in this little place called the Glass House...no, it's not made of glass.... What we were doing was playing a rave, a huge dance party where they rented an entire city block in Pomona. The FREAKS showed up for this one... Vuca opened the show for the first time since we did Vancouver, and when he was done, the place was empty..... I was shocked... ya would figure the freaks would LOVE Vuca....
So, anyway, since it was the last day of the tour, Marko and I plotted to play a little trick on Lamb.... we had the hardest time trying to figure out what to do..... When Marilyn Manson had their last night on the Nine Inch Nails tour, Marko had them hauled away from tha arena, stripped down, and deposited at a local record store, nude, with no money..... We weren't ABOUT to do that to Louise... she was too...nice (laughs), so we though up a better idea.... When we first got to the Glass House, there was this netting type fabric hanging from the ceiling that they projected images onto... They say it's 'chiffon'... ok..whatever... LOL I looked at this stuff, and in my best 'S n S' imitation, said this is unacceptable... this must be removed.... After they took this stuff down, I noticed that it is the same fabric they make tutus out of.... yah... like as in ballerina stuff... SO.... When Lamb did their final song of the tour, Marko, John (Lamb's bus driver), and I went up on stage, with this fabric sticking out of our pants, looking like ballerinas with balloons for titties, and danced to their last song.... They were laughing SO HARD, they had to stop..... The name of the song, you ask? "Ha Ha Ha Ha".... it's not on their disk..... Gusgus did a great set, then....... it was OVER. We tore the stuff down one last time, and loaded it onto a truck to be sent home.... Got on the bus after saying goodbye to all the people we met in Pomona, like Ginger, the pizza tomboy who was hiding a beautiful body under them overalls... (howl), drove back to the Teddy just in time for the band to catch a van to the airport... said our good-byes, and walla...... it's over for real..... time to go HOME!!! Took a van to the airport, got on an America West flight to Phoenix, and FINALLY saw the Pacific Ocean as we took off over it..... Landed in Phoenix, and caught a Continental flight home to Houston.. I was on the plane with the Milwaukee Arena Football team, who had just lost the championship in LA..... When the pilot overshot the gate in Houston, I offered to have the football players get out and push the plane into its position.... (laughs) So... got off the plane, and celebrated my 7th anniversary with the wife...... home again.... For now!!!
Ummmm....
