2* Carolina +10 – I haven’t been impressed yet this year with Miami’s offense. Sure they looked good in spots, but I don’t see them putting enough points up to be a 10-point favorite here. 1* Cleveland +5’ – Two good defenses go at it, but what about these offenses? The overlooked units will prevail and with Miller injured (questionable now) or Mathews, I have to like Cleveland’s chances. Cleveland 20, Chicago 19 LOSS

2* Cincy +3 - Detroit is just plain bad and don't give me that "they're improving". They've played bad teams well but they still lost. Cincy, on the other hand, has beaten some good teams but must win on the road to prove their not the same old Bungles. Cincy gets the monkey off their back this week with a win over a team they SHOULD beat. Cincy 25, Detroit 17 WIN
1* San Francisco +2' - San Fran has one of the best offenses in the NFL and should test this young Chicago defense. I'm not convinced Chicago's defense can stand up against Garcia, Owens and the rest so I got to go against the upstart Bears. San Francisco 24, Chicago 20 LOSS
2* New Orleans +12' - A loss to Atlanta and a team looking to get the offense going. An easy mark for St. Louis right? Not this week. New Orleans knows they're in a dogfight for this division so look for them to pull out all the stops. New Orleans 21, St. Louis 18 WIN
1* San Diego -7 - Two words: Doug Flutie. Two more: John Butler. San Diego will run up the score this week on a pathetic Bills team. This game has plenty of sub-plots and the best team will win this week and win big. Buffalo 14, San Diego 28 LOSS
1* New York Giants -7' - Despite losing their last two games by one point, New York is still one of the best teams in the leaue. Washington is not. New York will take out two weeks frustrations on the lowly Deadskins. New York Giants 24, Washington 10 LOSS

2* New England +10’ – A huge win at home over Indianapolis that started a run of 2 out of 3. This team should be brimming with confidence and could shock Peyton and a backward moving Colts team. New England 26, Indianapolis 23 WIN
1* New York Jets +7 – Vinny and the Jets come off another come from behind victory over Miami so this position is old hat. St. Louis could be without the services of Marshall or – even better – Marshall at less than 100%. Look for the Jets to make St. Louis earn this one. St. Louis 21, New York Jets 20 LOSS
1* San Diego +2’ – Denver is beginning to slide and San Diego needs to bounce back to be taken seriously. If Denver struggled against a tough run game and Seattle, I think LT and Flutie should give them fits. Denver 17, San Diego 22 *** If you can get 4 points or better, make this a 2* play WIN
2* Green Bay –3 – Three points with Freeman coming on, Favre on fire, Green playing top notch and facing the Minnesota defense in a dome. Oh, did I forget to mention they also have the #1 defense in the NFL right now? This sounds to me like a perfect time to jump on the Green and Gold bandwagon. Green Bay 27, Minnesota 14 LOSS

1* Green Bay +1 – Too good defenses take the field and one good offense. Green Bay’s legitimacy has been questioned as has Baltimore. However, it’s a big game in Lambeau and there’s no one better in a big game than Elvis … yeah right. Favre and the Pack in Lambeau. Baltimore 13, Green Bay 20 WIN
2* Tampa Bay +2’ – Let me get this straight. Tennessee loses badly to Baltimore and now is a favorite over Tampa who plays stifling defense. McNair sucks and is hurt; Eddie George is not producing; and Samari Rolle is out. Sounds to me like good day for Brad Johnson to get the offense jump started. Tampa Bay 23, Tennessee 14 LOSS
2* Cleveland +2’ – Cincinnati started out like a terror than quickly crashed back to earth with 2 straight losses. Cleveland is firing on all cylinders and should win this one handily. Cleveland 21, Cincinnati 13 LOSS
1* Detroit\Minnesota UNDER 44’ – Two teams with pathetic offenses play in a battle of whose worse in the NFC cellar. I think Detroit is the worst, but regardless these teams will struggle to put up points as they have all season. Detroit 12, Minnesota 22 LOSS

2* San Diego –3 – OK, I remember New England surprising Indianapolis and sending them to 2-1, but this is San Diego. 1* Washington\Dallas UNDER 36’ – A snoozer under the Monday Night lights. The battle of the beatens will find out who is the NFL\NFC East’s worst team. My advice … take a nap and take the under. Washington 11, Dallas 14 WIN
NFL WEEK 4
1* Washington\New York Giants OVER 36 - New York should have no trouble moving the ball with Thunder and Lightning and Washington will be forced to throw the ball early and often just to stay in the game. Look for Washington to get blown out again and lots of points. Washington 14, New York 31 LOSS
1* San Diego\Cleveland UNDER 35 - This will be a real test of San Diego this week as Cleveland brings the toughest defensive test of the season to San Diego. I think Flutie and company will pull it out, just don't look for a lot of scoring from either side. San Diego 13, Cleveland 10 LOSS
1* Philadelphia -14 - Arizona has absolutely zero run defense and their pass defense isn't that much better. Factor in a Philly offense and defense that are clicking and it will be a long day for the Cardinals at the Vet. Arizona 9, Philly 32 LOSS
1* New Orleans -3' - New Orleans faltered terribly last week, so look for them to bounce back in a major way. Look for New Orleans defense to set the tone on Carter and Moss and look for a big day from Joe Horn and Willie Jackson. Minnesota 14, New Orleans 26 WIN

1* New York Jets -4 and OVER 36 - The Jets stumble on Monday night against San Francisco but should be able to manhandle the Buffalo offense this week. Don't be surprised if Rob Johnson hooks up on some big plays late, but the Jets should cover the spread and get enough points to get the over as well. New York Jets 30, Buffalo 17 WIN-WIN
2* Green Bay +3 - Let me get this straight. Tampa Bay limps past Dallas and then gets beat by the 0-2 Vikings; both weeks showing no offense against 2 of the worst defenses in the NFL. NFL WEEK 3
1* Kansas City -3 and 1* UNDER 37' - I don't care if it's Tony Banks or Jeff George, neither of these quarterbacks fall into Marty Schottenheimer's "system". Washington's defense will continue to struggle as will their offense. On the Kansas City side of the ball - look for a lot of improvement this week as KC takes a big step down in competition and should have the offense and defense firing in unison. Kansas City 17, Washington 6 WIN - LOSS
1* New England +12 - Indianapolis has had their way with opposing defenses thus far, but may find a slow go in Foxboro. New England's D has to step up and carry the team this week thanks to the loss of Drew Bledsoe. Look for a lot of running by Antowain Smith and the rest of the offense, and since Indianapolis isn't much on defense, I expect Tom Brady to put up some decent numbers in his first NFL start. New England and Brady are a mystery to this point; the rest of the league has Indy figured out - the question is can they stop'em? Indy 25, New England 21 WIN
2* Denver -4 - Is it Christmas already? In week 1 Baltimore held off a Chicago offense led by Shane Mathews, at home, in a game they should have lost. In week 2, they turned the ball over and continued to be ineffective running the ball en route to a 21-10 thumping in Cincinnati. Now I'm supposed to believe that their running game has improved enough to get past Ray Rhodes's revamped Denver defense and have enough offensive weapons - without a running game - to hang in against Denver's offense? Give the points - the line is gift enough. Denver wins easily in this one. Baltimore 13, Denver 28 LOSS
1* San Diego -6' and 1* UNDER 39 - Two teams with two tough defenses and surprising offenses. This could be the game of the week just because no one expected these two doormats to be 2-0 and looking as good as they do. Whatever happens, one team will emerge 3-0 and the other will still be in the playoffs hunt. Who'd a thunk it? San Diego clearly has the best offense in this matchup as I give the nod to Flutie over Kitna and I believe the edge will go to that San Diego defense. It'll be tight until San Diego pulls away late. Cincy 7, San Diego 21 WIN - LOSS
2* Cleveland +9' - The oddsmakers are still making lines as if this is 2000. Cleveland is slowly gaining momentum after a week 1 setback against Seattle which should never have happened. Last week, the Cleveland D picked Ty Detmer off 7 times in one game. I don't care what you think about Detmer or Detroit; 7 INT's even against a high school team is impressive. Jacksonville has rolled early on, but today they hit a speed bump with Stacy Mack in place of Fred Taylor taking away the "home run" threat at running back. Cleveland shocks the NFL in week 3.
