The Aeroponics project involves growing plants in air, without any soil. The plants grown were Ginseng and Coleus which produced 30% more root mass and had excellent nutritional qualities. This is the first time a root based herbal drug has been grown in this way. This project has been acclaimed by the Indian Science Congress. The software and hardware for this project can be used for commercial exploitation. This technology can also be used for academic research and further trials in this regard will help the herbal and medicinal industry in a standardized way.
