While building this page for prayer requests , I thought I would add a few things I have found helpful in my studies on the subject of prayer. I, like alot of people really didn't know how to pray. I hope you will find this helpful in your journey with your walk with God. God wants to show His childern what He, as our loving, eternal Father, has the power to do. He is all powerful and wants to reveal this attrubute to you. In Scripture, you read example after example of how He met people's needs, protected them, and moved heaven and earth to accomplish His will. He wants to do the same for you, if you will only ask. You must be submissive to Him to the point of absolute obedience, regardless of what He asks. Ask the Lord to show you if you are harboring rebellion or resentment. Surrender all to God. In Colossians 4:3 , Paul admonishes us to devote ourselves to prayer. His is not talking about quick prayer on the run, but recognizing the importance of it and making prayer the priority of our lives. Devoting ourselves to prayer means giving time to talk to the Father and to listen to Him. Set a time to pray. Establish the place to pray. Know the purpose of praying, the purpose should be that we may develop an intimate, warm, personal intimacy with Him. When we turn our hearts towards God, we may develop an inimate, warm, personal intimacy with Him. When we turn our hearts towards God, He begins to unveil Himself to us, and we begin to understand the ways of God that we never understood before. Spending time with Jesus is only preparation for what God has planned for us. We need to spend time with Him with the expectation of a spiritual explosion on our lives. God does not want us to luke warm christians. He wants us committed and passionate about a cause that is greater than ourselves ! We must get our eyes off ourselves and on Almighty God ! We are not here for our sake. We are here for the glory of God and to carry out His overwhelming, great, soverign will for mankind. There are times when God wants to involve others in praying iwth us about certain matters or burdens and concerns with others. God works in their lives as well as ours. We should view prayer as a tremendous honor and responsibility. When we know another person is praying, we feel strengthened and encouraged. In turn, we receive a blessing when we pary for others. Prayer is tapping into the inexhaustible resource of you r loving heavenly Gather who is intered in your problems or the problems of others. God is greater than the problem. He wants yu to seek him in prayer. He desires for you to live victoriously, regardless of yur circumstances. Pray in good times and in difficult times. Be relentless in praying.
