Comedy -- Dustin "Screech" Diamond

Five years ago, Diamond saw a friend do comedy.

"Between shows, he said, 'You should do this,' " Diamond recalled by phone. "I said sure. I didn't know he meant THAT NIGHT."

He soon was hooked. "The tough part is later," Diamond said. "Your 10 minutes of prepared material goes by in three minutes and the clock is standing still."

These days, he says, his act has some references to TV days, plus more about daily life. "There are little things in the bedroom and bathroom that people don't talk about, but they know are funny."

As Diamond talked, he was despairing the sighting of a snowflake. He moved from California to Milwaukee to be with his girlfriend, rock singer Beth Musolff.

Most of his old co-stars - Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley - remain busy as actors. Mario Lopez has become a game show host. "Hosting 'Pet Star'?" Diamond groaned. "I should send him a sympathy card for that."

A big payday did convince Diamond to battle Ron Palillo (Horshack on "Welcome Back, Kotter") in celebrity boxing. "I won, of course. He's like 90."

Actually, Palillo is 54. Diamond is 26, the boxing champion of the celebrity geek world.
