| Mark-Paul Is Thinking About You! Ask anyone who knows Mark-Paul Gosselaar what he`s really like and you usually get the same response. “He`s got such a good heart!” Simply put, this 19-year-old TV star just lovees people and does everything he can to help those less fortunate than himself. Mark-Paul is grateful to all the fans who made Saved by the Bell the hottest show on Saturday morning television. Because he can`t personally thank each fan, Mark-Paul had to find another way to give something back to the people who have given him so much. Through work with several causes that are important to him, Mark-Paul is able to say thank you in a very special way. “I love charities and helping people,” Mark-Paul says proudly. Though he`s never been crazy about the Hollywood nightlife – “I`d rather stay home and watch TV,” he admits – when an organization like the Make-a-Wish Foundation comes calling, Mark-Paul is always ready to help out. Last April, dozens of teen celebrities participated in the Superstar Kids Challenge, which pitted four teams against each other in various sporting events. Each team played for a specific charity: United Cerebral Palsy, Easter Seals, MADD and Make-a-Wish. Mark-Paul was especially proud to be on the Make-a-Wish team because that organization grants special wishes to children who have terminal or life threatening illnesses. Mark-Paul helped to raise $29,000, and you can bet that made a lot of dreams come true! Combining his love for others with his athletic abilities always makes such events even more enjoyable. On weekends, Mark-Paul can often be found shooting hoops with the likes of Step by Step`s Brandon Call and Tone Loc for another good cause – education! “It`s a celebrity team and we play against school facilities,” he explains. “Then all the money goes to the school. Those games are tough!” Equally difficult, but in a different way is the work Mark-Paul does with Rainbow Kids, a group that helps kids with cancer. Mark-Paul is currently president of Rainbow Kids and last Christmas, he got dressed up as Santa Claus and gave presents to all the children. “It`s hard to get close to the kids,” Mark-Paul says. “They are under treatment and their parents might not want you to become involved. It`s hard.” Hard, but very rewarding. Because no matter how busy things get with auditions and interviews, Mark-Paul knows that taking time out to help others will create a better tomorrow for everyone. |
