Saved by the Bell`s Support System The cast of this Saturday morning series gets by with a little help from their friends and family! How does the gang from television`s Saved by the Bell cope with the fun, yet sometimes demanding world of TV stardom? Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Dustin Diamond, and Lark Voorhies feel the encouragement, support and advice they receive from their families is a huge help! “If there`s a will, there`s a way!” That`s what Mark-Paul`s (“Zack”) mom Paula often tells her March 1, 1974 birthday boy when a difficult situation arises. “Keep trying until you feel you`ve accomplished something,” is another of Mrs. Gosselaar`s sayings that helps this hazel-eyed lad keep his chin up and his outlook bright! Probably the best career advice Mark-Paul has ever recieved was from a friend of his mom`s, who suggested he give modeling a try! It was this very idea that started MP`s career! In fact, long before SBTB came along, this blond haired cutie used to model with his future castmate, Tiffani-Amber (“Kelly”)! It was at the urging of her photographer uncle, that Tiff first became a model and then moved on to acting! Her parents, Frank and Robyn Thiessen, shared these words of wisdom, with their blue-eyed daughter: “Always be yourself. If people don`t like the real you, they are`nt going to like the fake you eithier!” “How they treat me!” Mario (“Slater”) finds it easy to be himself thanks to his family. “It`s not what they tell me – it`s how they treat me!” smiles this San Diego, California native. “My relatives are`nt involved in the entertainment industry, so they keep me down-to-earth!” reveals brown-eyed Mario. Like Mario, Elizabeth`s (“Jessie”) family has a very positive effect on her career. When the 18-year-old actress is asked to name the biggest influence on her life, she quickly resonds “My parents and grandfather!” Why? “Because they`ve always supported me in whatever I`ve chosen to do.” Dustin (“Screech”) found that his parents were equally supportive of his early attempts at comedy. “When I was little I would go up to my bedroom, pull out all of my costumes and put them on. Then I would come downstairs dressed up like some weird half-doctor, half-zombie character and my folks would just crack up laughing!” reveals this January 7, 1977 birthday fella. While Dustin`s folks influenced him, Lark`s (“Lisa”) mom was the single one person who made the biggest impact on her. “My mom came to me one day and said, ‘Why don`t you give acting a try?’ ” Even though brown-eyed Lark was very shy, she decided to go for it anyway and wound up with excellent results! “I soon had my first professional acting job – a commercial for Universal Studios!” exclaims this pretty 16-year-old.
