Our 5 Senses


I will have photos available as we finish this lesson.

As an introduction...I will have many items placed on the table (one for each sense). I will have students come up and tell me what body part they used for each item. Content Standard: SC 2

Seeing-I will have magazine pictures or clipart all over the table. Students must pick out 5 items they can see and paste them on their paper.

Hearing-I will have magazine pictures or clipart all over the table. Students must pick out 5 items they can hear and paste them on their paper.

Tasting-I will have magazine pictures or clipart all over the table. Students must pick out 5 items they can taste and paste them on their paper.

Touch-I will have magazine pictures or clipart all over the table. Students must pick out 5 items they can touch and paste them on their paper.

Smell-I will have magazine pictures or clipart all over the table. Students must pick out 5 items they can smell and paste them on their paper.


Touch-have items in a bag. Students must feel & touch to guess what the items are.

Taste & Smell & See-I will have a variety of foods out. The students will try the food and record how they taste, smell, and look. Content Standard: SC 5 & 2


Hear-I will have different sounds taped on a cassette tape. I will play it back to students. They will record by drawing what they hear. Content Standard: SC 5, 2

Fav. Sense-Students will choose one sense they think is their favorite. They will dictate to a techer why they like it and illustrate them using that sense. Content Standard: SC 3


Have students find things they can taste and paste them on a LARGE mouth.

Have students bring smelly things from home. Have them paste/tape the smelly things on a LARGE nose.

Have students use their sense of touch and use their feet to paint on butcher paper. I named mine "Sense"ational Foot Art.

Have students go around your school and listen for different sounds (inside and outside your school). Come back and make a chart of your findings.
