Thank you for coming down to THE MODEL WORKSHOP. So who exactly are we and why do we even bother about creating THE MODEL WORKSHOP? We are a group of modellers who seriously enjoy miniature modeling. In our endeavor, we hope that through our website, we can do our part in promoting and increasing the awareness of miniature modeling around the world especially our country Singapore.

Miniature modeling has always been considered a small market in Singapore and a few other areas due to some reasons. First, modeling has been sadly misunderstood by the public as a form of "kid stuff" or "advanced toys for kids". Secondly, the heavy workload of Singaporean makes them too busy to care about what miniature modeling is. With the increasing popularity of the internet and virtual world, as well as computer games, it's not uncommon that children, even adults, would rather give a shot at their games etc. than try their hands at hours of a manual modeling session.

In THE MODEL WORKSHOP, we hope to introduce miniature modeling not just as a form of leisure hobby but also a form of Fine Art. Why Fine Art ? Fine Art is defined as a form of drawing, painting, sculpture of high quality. In Miniature modeling, we are also dealing with high quality painting, study of three-dimensional form, research of detail, history and even culture of that specific model that we work on. Therefore miniature modeling should also be treated as a form of Fine Art and not a form of "kid stuff". It's particularly satisfying to be able to "Bring a model to life" with paints and techniques. Modeling is much more than just giving your subject a coat of paint.

For non-modellers, we really hope that you can support miniature modeling by appreciating the work of modellers around the world as a form of Fine Art through modeling exhibitions and competitions.
