The Birth of a Nation (1915)

Description: Two Families, the Camerons and the Stonemans, knew each otherbefore the opening of hostilities in the Civil War. One's sympathies were in the South, the other's with the North. In this first true epic film, we follow their fortunes in the war. We watch many of the great battles, and we are present at other monumentous events, including the assasination of Lincoln. After the South's defeat, we see continuing bitterness and hardship. Many in the South applaud the rise of the "Clan" (the Ku Klux Klan) and the Invisible Empire over which it rules. The closing scene is a triumphant ride of hooded "Clansmen" cast as protectors of civilization.

Description: New Yorker Jakie Rabinowitz longs to be a performer on stage, an ambition thwarted by his father, Cantor who insists Jakie follow in his footsteps to a higher calling. On the night of his Broadway debut, Jack learns that his father is dying. He leaves the stage to be with family. He sings a song to his father and returns to the theater where they have held the curtain for him. He performs to a standing ovation, joined by his mother who is in the audience. The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944)

Description: Trudy Kockenlocker lives in the small town of Morgan's Creek along with her Father and Sister. Trudy has eyes for one man. The one she is not crazy about is the one who loves her.  Norval Jones the town dork. Trudy uses Norval as a decoy so she can date the local military men, who she finds more interesting. After a party Trudy beleives she might have married a man, but does not know his name or what he looks like. What she soon does know is that he left her a present. She is pregnant. Norval does his best to marry Trudy, but mishap builds on misunderstanding and he is run out of town as a philanderer. The only thing that can save the situation is a miracle. They get that miracle. Trudy gives birth to sextuplets, going the Dionne quints better. Now the Mayor, the Governor, and everyone else protect the new found celebrities, giving them a quick wedding and everything they need to be happy.

Description: Seven people board a stage to Lordsburg, and we get to know them all: the goodhearted prostitute, the gambler with the Confederate past, the whiskey salesman with a soft heart, the alcoholic doctor, the elegant, distant, very pregnant calvary officer's wife, and the banker with a guilty secret. They cannot know it, but because of an Indian uprising, they are riding into the most dangerous hundred square miles on the continent. Their first encounter is with an escaped convict Ringo Kid, who joins them. In the ensuing battle, the Ringo Kid and Dallas, the prostitute fall in love, Lucy has her baby, Hatfield the gambler is killed,Mr. Peacock the whiskey drummer is wounded, Dr. Boone is redeemed, and the banker Gatewood is aprehended. in Lordsburg the Kid gets his rvenge on those who killed his family, and the sherrif helps him and Dallas escape to a new life.

Description: The mob rules the New York waterfront through corrupt unions. Terry Malloy is an ex-fighter who does odd jobs for union boss Johnny Friendly. Malloy's brother Charlie is the corrupt lawyer for Friendly. Terry Malloy unwittingly participates in the murder of a trouble maker who messes with the mob. At this time he meets and falls in love Edie Doyle. She introduces him to the town preist Father Barry, who wants the mob out of the union. Slowly Terry is brought t Father Barry's way of thinking. Terry then goes on to defeat Johnny Friendly in Court and on the docks. Then gaining back the trust of the docksmen.
