February this year we headed off to Bundaberg QLD to see how my mother was settling into her new life after her recent divorce and to see my eldest sister and her family who had not yet met Natalie. It was a 3 day drive, we stopped regularly so that we could all get out and have abreak and stretch our legs. 1st night we stopped at Coffs Harbour and stayed at a hotel and played mini golf ( Dave cheated) 2nd night we stopped at Noosa and swam in a heated pool at night ( Nat loves the water it helped settle her down) We finally got to Bundy and all we did the first day was moan about the heat and humidity ,, (40oC + 97% humidity) Thank God for air conditioning! We swam every day. While we were in Bundy we went to the Bundaberg Rum Distillary and learned how it is made and bottled and marketed. We also went to the sugar museam and the botanical gardens, Natalie , Dave and I went out to dinner at Sizzlers one night .Nat is a messier eater then Dave even! We played under the sprinkler with Natalie and i helped my neice sell door to door chocolates(without eating the profits) to raise money for her school camp. We decided to go a little further north for a couple of days and headed up to Rockhampton. We stayed in a flashhhhhhy international Resort and got room service !!! and swam under a waterfall and i nicked the little bottles of shampoo and conditioner and moisteriser and coffee sachets and the do not disturb sign for our bedroom door, i fugure basically if it aint bolted down its meant as a free gift :) Shhhhhh The next day we headed over to Great Keppel Island , a tropical island off the coast of Yeppoon. I discovered tropical is just a fancy name for mosquitos. We stayed in cabins and had possums come over for a feed every night( and mozzies) we swam in the crystal waters every day and Natalie decided sand is great to eat. We went on a camel ride on the beach at sunset on valentines day and the next day i went parasailing AWESOME!!!We drank cocktails every afternoon and i spent a motsa in the gift shop. Then we headed on back to Bundy to say goodbye to mum ( i cried a river! - sook) and we came home. We had a sensational time but i was glad to get home into our own bed again |
