\\ the munchkins // all the crap that's happened so far

The Munchkins have known each other since the year dot.  The year dot being 1990, which incidentally was the year that "itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini" was number 1.  The three original and surviving members were thrust into each others presence at the age of 5 on that trying first day of primary school at Williamston Primary in Livingston.

After spending the next 9 years of their lives in each others presence, they became quite good chums indeed.  One day, they listened to Nirvana... they liked what they heard. A while later they formed a band in january 2000. Gordon had been playing guitar for a wee while so it seemed obvious for him to fill that position. It had been realised that Grant had some natural ability to hit things in a way that sounded pleasing, therefore it seemed adviseable that he would be the drummer. Jamie thought 4 strings would be easier so he became the bassist.  Over the coming months the 3 would play after school in a polkey wee rehaersal room in the music department, playing nirvana covers and some rather cliche original tunes.

The band went through spells of changing the line-up by adding a rythm guitarist. The three that joined the band (in chronological order) Jamie Davidson, Douglas Martin and Andy Hewit. They all brought their own flare to the band, but "artistic differences" (yes, thats the professional thing to say) got in the way.

The original three undergoing names such as "Mute", "NJimrod" and finally "The Munchkins" have played various gigs as a cover band.

Then in mid 2003 it was decided that enough was enough.  The band started to write their own material, and by god it was satisfying. Since then they have been purely original material apart from the token cover song every once in  a while.

Over the last couple of years these three creatures have been honing their techniques, and blasting their sonic disturbances to the public. Many gigs haev been played in this time, many have been successful and a fan base has started to develop.

other stuff will no doubt happen in the future too.................
