Nerdcore. What is it? What do we stand for? Well, aside from the few basic questions half-answered that were on this page before...noone knew; not even the founders.
But much thought has been put into the subject, and it's been decided. Sort of.
Nerdcore is a movement. A vessel of social change and awakening. For example, if you asked a hardcore Punk-rocker if punk was just music, or just the clothes, or the attitude; he'd tell you that those things are just the outlets of a movement going far beyond any one category or expression. You know when you're Nerdcore, and when you do you're in...it's not something you "join" or try to be a part of. Wayne and I have recently adopted a new term for Nerdcore that fits perfectly: "Neo-Hippies". It's true...no, we aren't doing mind boggling amounts of drugs and having sex with every stranger on the street, but that's not what the hippies were about...those things were just an outlet of their movement, a movement all about expressing yourself, being free from conformity, and enjoying the moment. That's Nerdcore, folks. Letting people know it's OK to be themselves, to shed all the shackles of social constraint we all wear like dog collars, and to just spread some peace, love, and happiness. We choose our outlets in many ways...writing, goofy pranks, finding and in some cases making music that shares this view, spreading our message through widescale social interaction. It's a way of life no different from the one you're probably already on; but it's there...Nerdcore is alive and well, and this website is just one little creative outlet. Expect many more things to appear soon...magazines, a band, TV, radio...we've been working on quite a few things over the past months; and it's time to get this movement, well, moving. Feel free to contact me at RobTheNerd@hotmail.com or IM me as Avernaith if you've got anything to say/send in/etc.
"OK, fine, I'm here...what's the point of all of this?"
We haven't the foggiest.
"Well, um, neat. This is really cool...but who made it? I see some names a lot, and some not so often, but who really created Nerdcore?"
Possibly Alf, we're not sure. Actually, the very first people to begin work on Nerdcore were Wayne, Rob, Natalie, Sammy, Mark, Sean, and Scott. It took a little while, but soon we had too many people to list working on stuff for it.
"Wow, you're terrible at answering questions! Anyway...who is the Nerdcore Staff, and how do you join, cause I want in!"
The Nerdcore Staff is an amorphous blob-like conglomeration of whoever is sending us the most articles and links, advertising us, etc, at any one given time. Thus it can vary from week to week, and there is no special authority, responsibility, or 'rank' attached to it.
"That's weird. Fine, then how do I join Nerdcore in general?"
If you want in, you are in. To quote a great film..."You determine your own level of involvement...".
"YAY! I'm in...and so are some of my friends around here...are we a club or something?"
You're a 'Nexus'. A Nerdcore Nexus is a group of any number located in a specific local area...
"So, um, what should we...like...do?"
Anything! Write for us, submit stories, articles, links, pictures, etc...ADVERTISE, walk up to random people and ask them if they've been nice to a midget today. Hell, make your OWN cool page (This would be a Nerdcore 'Hub') and link it up with this one! Nerdcore is all about spreading humor, news, and info; screwing with society in general; and don't forget the prostitute-like self-promotion!
