A) The opportunity for networking within Societies is unlimited. With around 200 societies (we are currently at 199!), Edinburgh University has the largest number in the UK. This has enormous scope for socialising, event participation and cross-pollenation. My belief is that there is a lot more that can be done to benefit Societies, their members and their executive boards. Whilst Societies can only be formed if they have different aims constitutionally than any other recognised Society in the University, there is still some overlap, and lots of mutual interests and things in common.

Currently, thanks to the fabulous work by this year's VPSA, Ali Grainger, there has been some small scale 'Grouped Society Meetings'- I wish to develop this idea. The main categories I have thought of so far are:

1)Business
2)Charitable
3)Culinary
4)Dance
5)International
6)Publishing
7)Alcohol Appreciation
8)Theatrical
9)Musical
10)Choral

The benefits for Societies would be increased turnout at events, improving inter-society relations, increased socialising and more.

B)Early on in the year, I would like to organise a social for appointment holders of all societies. Not only will EUSA be able to go through lots of pertinent information and dates relevant and helpful to Societies, but more importantly it'll be a chance for Society Presidents, Treasurers, Secretaries and any appointment holders or others interested to meet peers and EUSA representatives.
