1) My main commitment as Convener will be to contact and meet each individual interested Society's Exec (ie President, Treasurer and Secretary). While this is a massive commitment (with 200 societies in Edinburgh!) this is by far the best way to get to know Societies personally, what they do and what their needs and goals are. At these meetings, I will also promote my own goals for the year to help Societies, particularly the Appointment Holders' Social and the Similar Societies' Networking Meetings (or Grouped Society Meetings) - see 'Networking'. My calculations estimate meeting with 4 to 5 societies an afternoon / evening, 4 days a week for the first 10 weeks of Semester 1 and the first 3 weeks of Semester 2. Meetings should not last more than 10 or 15 minutes.
2) I believe the service I can provide Societies is much enhanced by the fact that I am already deeply involved in serving Societies as a member of the current Societies' Executive Board and as Societies' Treasurer.
3) I will hold a weekly Office Hour when Societies' Appointment Holders/Members can come in to see me personally with any queries / concerns. This will most probably be Thursday or Friday afternoons, as this is the time I made my Treasurer's Office Hour - for any enquiries and assistance- and this has proved very successful.
4) If Societies require, I will also meet them individually for serious / urgent situations outside of my Office Hour.
