Team Test Bot participated at the High Springs Antweight Challenge on May 3, 2003! We(I) managed to bring home the Big Sprocket for winning the antweight rumble. VCA competed while Test Bot was on display. Overall it was a fun event.
All packed up and ready to go. Bots in the gray bag, tools in the green. I ended up not needing half the tools myself, but other people did, so I was glad I trucked it all anyways.

I used my power drill's motor fan to cool myself with the day got really hot. Must have been funny seeing a guy holding a drill up to his face... I also managed to use half my roll of duct tape, along with like 3 other people.
A hundred miles of nothingness. This was taken on I-75 south of Valdosta, Georgia.

Fortunately, we filled up in Macon, since there were not many stations along the way, and the ones there were probably had fat hairy truckers and cockroach-infested bathrooms.
On location under some trees. High Springs is a small town, but the festival there that weekend crowded alot of people into it. The white box is the arena, about 4x8 feet. It had a clear Lexan lid. 500 miles of Extension Cord or so linked power to the event.

About 15-20 people were there with a bunch of bots.
VCA. Ended up winning 3 fights, losing 2, then winning the rumble! Not bad for a 20 minute bot. As you can see, duct tape is rear armor as well as a front leading edge. It worked quite well. The lite-flites got major traction in the wood floor even with tons of gunk on it. I also put duct tape ticky side out on the wheels for ubertraction. That worked for about 5 seconds before dirt ruined the tape.

In the rumble, VCA nudged a feared spinner, Coffee Grinder, into a bot called Nequito, causing CG to flip over. At another time, VCA has 3 bots(ant and beetle) on top of it..and still pushed them for a bit. Servos are slow but strong.
First Step To Oblivion, a middleweight in attendance by Team Pyramid. It didn't fight. Though it wold be cool if it did...everyone in attendance(probably 25 pounds total) against a MW...
John Kruse's 30lber Persistent Itch. I was surprised when I looked at those mini-EVs. They're thicker and longer than I thought. I got to drive it for a bit...Very nimble and powerful.
The co-host of the show, Chris Mcvey(Shinyheaded). Alex Grant, the other host, is bent over vomiting from eating the soap-food-cake-whatever that was there...No, actually he's just doing work on his bots.

Fun event! The link will take you to the ant page.
Now go back to Earth.
