Theoren Fleury is a six time all-star from the Calgary Flames. Theoren was born in Oxbow Saskatchewan but spent most of his childhood in Russell Manitoba. When Theoren was 13 and playing in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba he suffered his most major injury. It was March 21, 1982 and Theoren's Russel team was playing the big city team of Portage La Prairie in a friendly challenge game. At one point in the game Theoren came down the right boards and began to cut towards the center of the ice to get a shot on net. As he did the defenseman tripped. When he fell his skate blade came up and cut Theorens right arm. Blood arced out of Theoren's arm all over the ice. The blade had cut through his jersey, skin, artery, biceps and nerves. There was no pulse in his arm when the doctor examined it. To fix his arm it took four doctors and two six hour operations. It took over 500 stitches to hold everything back together. To this day he can barely pick up coins or distinguish between them using his right hand. In 1990 he was diagnosed with Crones disease which he has since overcome.

Theoren is now in his 11th NHL season with the Calgary Flames. He scored his first goal on Jan 7, 1989 against Grant Fuhr. He has also captained the gold medal winning, Canadian World Junior hockey team in 1988. His only Stanley cup came in his rookie season of 1989. He also holds the Flames all time point record which was held by Al MacInnis at 822pts. Fleury has also captained the flames but now is the assistant by his choice.
Theoren was married in 1995 to Veronica. He has two sons, Josh (from a different relationship) and Beaux.  Theoren has since had another child.

He has also been traded to the Colorado Avalanche.  He didn't have a very good season with the Avalanche and was later picked up by the New York Rangers.  Theoren had a very lackluster first year with the Rangers.  Much of this can probably be attributed to the big city life and always being in the spotlight.  The Rangers made some moves in the off season to get some big names and take some of the pressure off Theoren.  This past season Theoren was one of the top players in the NHL.  He was in a points battle with Joe Sakic, his old teamate, for tops in the league.  Near the end of the season he suddenly checked himself into a clinic to get help for an addiction problem.

Theoren was done rehab at the begininning of the 2001/2002 season.  He returned to the New York Rangers to join Erci Lindros and Michael York on the so called, "FLY" line.  He is once again back on top in the NHL.  Theoren has also been chosen to play as part of Canada's 2002 Olympic hockey team in Salt Lake City.
