Sorry about my long absence!!  Let's hope it doesn't happen again.  I've been really busy lately -- but luckily Al hasn't been up to much lately.  There've been lots of rumors - a romance on the set of 'People I Know' with Kim Basinger, some legal troubles with Beverly D'Angelo (Al's former girlfriend and mother of his children Anton and Olivia).  I'll try to catch up on all of that.
     '
The Recruit'

It has grossed around $52 million domestically, and is doing fairly well overseas.  The movie should be out on video and DVD MY 27th.
     'People I Know'

The film is set to be released this Friday, April 25.  Check www.rottentomatoes.com for reviews - most of which seem to be positive (so far, at least!).

Al's Birthday!

Two days until Al's birthday, on the 25th, the same day as the US release of 'People I Know!'

   'The Recruit'
Well, 'The Recruit' took in $16.3 million this weekend!  Luckily, it beat out 'Final Destination 2'.  I'm making a new page in the 'Films' section for 'The Recruit.'  It should be up by tomorrow, and it will have critics reviews, photos and more.

  'The Recruit' Premiere
The L.A. premiere of 'The Recruit was yesterday (1/28), and in attendance were Al, Colin Farrell, Bridget Moynahan, Danny DeVito, Britney Spears, Salma Hayek, Sheryl Crow and many others!  There are quite a few photos of Al from the event.  You can see them all at the following links, or I posted some selections on t
he 'Out and About' page.

Colin Farrell, Al's co-star in 'The Recruit' has a little bit to say about Al.  His portion is halfway through the show.  Basically, Colin says that Al is 'F***ing great.'  There are a couple shots of the production of the movie, with Al, Colin and Bridget Moynahan off-camera.

   Al and Mac Cosmetics?
I was pretty surprised when I went to IMDB and found this popping out at me.  But hey, who can resist a little make-up! :)...
"Alec Baldwin and Al Pacino have been ensuring they constantly look their best at this year's Sundance Film Festival - by donning make-up at the event. Baldwin reportedly summoned a team of Mac make-up artists to come out and revitalize his face one morning this week at the Utah festival, according to showbiz website Page Six. And, according to sources, not a lot of women wanted to be made up this year - it was all men who needed make-up. Robert Downey, Jr. reportedly needed to hide a sunburn acquired while skiing, while Oliver Stone, William H. Macy and Pacino all stopped by the Mac room at the Seven Jeans lodge in Deer Valley for touch-ups."   - From www.imdb.com

There's a little bit on Al in today's Post.  No photo, unfortunately.  It's a paragraph taken from an article about the Sundance Film Festival...
"Al Pacino lurches into the room with the curve-backed gait of the irredeemably schleppy, having apparently descended into a permanent state of disarray. He wears a rumpled black turtleneck under a rumpled black double-breasted jacket, and his black hair looks like it has been through a wind tunnel.
It's the way he's looked in a lot of movies lately. "People I Know" is only the latest to feature what we might call the post-Pacino Pacino -- exhausted, hyperactive, overextended but ready to give the world one more run for its money. This time he plays Eli, a high-powered publicist in New York beaten down by the dead-end values of his job yet desperate to accomplish something worthwhile before he is devoured by his work.
It turns out that the actor's not even that interested in making movies these days; he has 2-year-old twins and wants to stay in Manhattan. "I'm not ready to go off and do things. I like to keep it close to home," he said in a brief, rambling conversation. But Eli's story "was so interestingly, accurately drawn. I literally had to do it. He's a man who's struggling. It doesn't mean it parallels your life." And yet, he added, "You don't know why you do certain parts, but you can speak through certain characters. I don't ever know why I understand some characters and not others." Pacino's next role, apparently free of schleppiness, is in the military drama "The Recruit."
He takes a sip of water, waves a hand vaguely in the air and shuffles
out."

'People I Know,' Al, and the Sundance Film Festival
'People I Know,' starring Al as an overworked New York press agent trying desperately to keep on top of things who gets in the middle of a major scandal, is going to premiere at Sundance Film Festival on Friday, January 17 and then be shown again Saturday and Sunday.  Unfortunately, tickets have been sold out for quite some time now, but Al is most likely going to attend the premiere and be around the festival.
Anyway, so far Al's performance has gotten rave reviews, and the film itself has gotten mixed.  Here are several links:

Biography- "Al Pacino: Inside Out" on
A&E
A&E is running "Al Pacino: Inside Out" at 8 pm on Friday, January 10th and  12 am on Saturday, January 11th.  This is the program synopsis from their website:
"Profile of the very private actor who has managed to remain an artist in the increasingly commercial film industry. Born to Sicilian parents in East Harlem, New York, Pacino suffered a lonely childhood before winning stardom on the Off-Broadway stage and achieving unparalleled success in some of the greatest movies ever made, including "The Godfather", "Serpico", and "Dog Day Afternoon". Pacino has struggled with drinking and been linked romantically with Diane Keaton, Tuesday Weld, and Jill Clayburg."  Thanks Liss!! :D

   Premiere
The January issue of Premiere, Viggo Mortensen on the cover, has a review of 'Insomnia,' along with a large picture of Al and Robin Williams on page 79.  Both the movie and the disc received a 4-star (out of a possible 5) rating, which is very good.  And there's a nice little nod to Al.
"...Al Pacino and Robin Williams, as cop and killer in a morally murky fight to the finish.  Nolan's accomplishment is remearkable: both Pacino and Williams turn in beautifully understated performances..."

Did anyone catch 'The Devil's Advocate' on TNT last night?  It was on at 5pm, but don't worry if you mised it, it'll be on later in the month, and this time I'll alert you sooner.

Happy New Year!  Well, this site is officially up an running, and I can't wait to get started.  So here's all the news (about Al) that's fit to print.
    The Recruit
Al's next release is set to open in the U.S. on January 31.  European fans will have to wait until March or April.  The trailer for this film is everywhere, so just watch TV for an hour or so and you're guaranteed to see it at least once.  As you all probably know, Al plays a CIA veteran who mentors a brash young agent (Colin Farrell), who then has the difficult assignment of rooting out a mole within the agency.
I'm eagerly awaiting this one, since Colin Farrell is an awesome actor, and we all already know that Al is! :)
You can see the trailer here:
