Following
on from 2001’s well received guide to dog shows scheduled in the United
Kingdom, designed to help overseas breed lovers proposing to visit our country
an overall view of the various shows where there are classes scheduled we have
updated the information for the current year.
All
breed shows and breed shows are listed. The
majority of all breed championship shows have classes scheduled for our breed
where Kennel Club Challenge Certificates are on offer. The range of dates are
given where appropriate, the actual show date should be checked via the dog
press, schedules, the internet or by contacting the Secretary.
In
order to gain the title of Champion in the UK a dog or bitch has to win three
separate Challenge Certificates under three different judges.
Some of the all breed shows have classes on offer, but Challenge
Certificates are not available. However the Best of Breed from these classes is still
entitled to compete in the Group with other Best of Breed’s.
Breed
Clubs are allowed to award Challenge Certificates by the Kennel Club on a
rotational basis. For instance a
breed club listed this year may not necessarily have the same classification for
2003. Each Club is allowed to hold
two shows, the second one being an Open Show, usually consisting of 20 plus
classes. The year a Club doesn’t
have a Championship Show, it will hold two Open Shows.
The
information contained below is purely intended as a guide with contact numbers
for the respective Society given in order that more detailed information can be
obtained.
The
Pekingese Club will not be held responsible for any change of dates, venues,
judges, classification or information that may occur.
