>>  Buying A Cockatiel Quiz!

Ready to become a bird owner, but do not know what to do? Well, you have come to the right place. First let's consider ten questions that will make sure you really want a bird.

  • A well-taken care cockatiel lives up to about 15 years. Are you willing to take the challenge of caring for it that long?
  • Do you have a permanent place set aside for a birdcage?
  • Will you let the bird fly free, without hesitation?
  • Are you willing to devote a lot of time to your bird?
  • Is someone going to be able to play, talk, or whistle to it from time to time?
  • If you have vacation plans, would you know who would be kind enough and trustworthy to bird sit your pet?
  • If you have other pets in the home, are you sure it will get along with your new bird? For example, you can teach a dog that the bird is apart of the family, while a cat would seem to look at the bird as a meal!
  • Are thinking of getting the bird for a child? Make sure that the child is responsible and is willing to do in this 10-question list.
  • Are you sure that no one is allergic to bird feathers and dust? Are you keeping in mind that a bird's well being and necessities (i.e. food and health care) will effect your budget?

Answer the questions above, if you answered yes to all of the questions, go ahead hop in the car, bus, whatever and go to your pet store or breeder. If you said no to at least 2-4 questions, you may have doubts about having a bird, but surely you'll make a good bird owner. If you answered no to 5 or more questions, ask this question to yourself

"Do I really want a bird?"
