"When I Wake Up In My Make-Up"
(title from a Hole's "Celebrity Skin")

a zit
caused
from waking up
in my makeup
my once naked face, clean and clear of imperfections.
painted all so eloquently
black kohl lining the jewels that spy the world,
with thick mascara coating the fringe of long dark lashes,
dusted with a taupe shadow
face encased in powder and foundation white as snow.
and brazen raisin burgundy lipstick smeared across the lips
that refuse to speak.
blonde hair bouncy
ready to go
headcase to hell in a handbasket.
my head aches and pounds
i am masked and ready to face the world
i am painted like a normal girl
but i am fucked into slivers by this one and that one
the agoraphobe, would rather be ugly at home.
