| ION VEIN has been around since 1994, did you ever imagine you guys would be around this long? Sure, i figured we'd be in for the long haul since it's all I ever wanted to do and the others that have come and gone as well. When I listen to ION VEIN, I can hear a very 80s influenced band, who are some of the influences of the band as a whole? I would say Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Queensryche, and Fates Warning, to name a few. ION VEIN opened for SEVEN WITCHES for their DVD shoot in Allentown, Pennsylvania. For thoes of the readers who don't know, all the people under 21 were asked to leave at 10:00pm after it was announced all ages...what is your view on this? Well I think it's really unfortunate that it happened because everybody was really into the show and that kinda killed the whole vibe. Apparently, someone dropped the ball and didn't inform the security crew so they never set up the club for an all ages show and it's a damn shame. Has there been any work on new material for a third album? Yes we're about six songs in and wer're actully hoping to be finished writing by now, but the Witches tour, Chicago Powerfest and our OVERKILL slot next week have kinda put the writing on hold. How about extensive tour plans? Not at this point, although we would love to do a full blown tour! We're hoping when the new album is released, that we'll be in a position with the right people to go on the road here in the US and also in Europe. How long have you been playing guitar? I've been playing for 20 years. I sure hope it shows! (laughs) If you could tour with any band, who would it be? Iron Maiden without a doubt!! What is your view on downloading music on the internet? It's a fact of life in this day and age so we need to really embrace the technology and find ways that we can still exist with it. Odviously, there has always been tape trading, bootlegging, etc, but the quality and ease that the internet provides has certainly changed the game quite a bit. I think it's great when bands and labels make music avalible to the fans but I think it's unfortunate when people leak albums ahead of time or try to make money by stealing from the artists. I'm really hoping a fair solution is realized. In my case, I still love having an actual product in my hand but I know the kids today it's a whole new ball game. They may never buy a real CD again. I agree. Well Chris, thank you for your time, and hopefully I'll see you guys in Allentown in June!! Thanks for your support Oz (Bloodcurse). We really appreciate it and we're looking forward to tearing it up June 3rd once again!! |
