| First off, what CD did you pop in your computer? (laughs) (laughs) I thought you'd ask..it's the new VICIOUS CIRCLE!! The Art of Agony Good stuff. Hell yeah man Alright, how have things been going with PESSIMIST? Going great, man. We're writing some killer tunes and the whole band is really stoked to be jamming together again. How many new tunes you guys have writen so far? Well, for now we have ideas for at least 4-5 tunes. The arrangements aren't complete but we plan to record a new demo asap!! You were also once in UNHOLY GHOST, why did you decide to leave them? Playing in UNHOLY GHOST was killer, but there was a point where the musical direction just wasn't what I wanted to do anymore...my main reason for leaving was to continue with PESSIMIST full time, which is a more brutal and technical band, which is the style of music I prefer to write, and which is my own creation!! Are you still friends with the UNHOLY GHOST guys? Oh yeah man, of course. We still see each other from time to time, and it's always cool. In fact, the band is still using my web site design, and I still maintain the UNHOLY GHOST site on Myspace. Didn't you work with Erik Rutan on your latest release? Yes, our latest CD, "Slaughtering the Faithful" was produced by Erik Rutan, and engineered by Derek Roddy... Wow, a Hate Eternal project persay (laughs). How was it to work with the guys? I've met them myself and they were the coolest guys!! Both Erik and Derek are killer guys, man. Total professionals and real easy to work with, not to mention top-notch musicians. We had a killer time recording the album, and it was a blast just hanging out with those dudes (laughs) Is there any tour plans for the remainder of 2005? Not at this point...for now, the band is focusing on writing for the next release, and putting out a killer album. I really want this CD to be my best recording so far. After that, we've talked about maybe playing a few fests - as for a tour, we'll have to wait and see... Alright, how were sales on "Slaughtering the Faithful"? Probably as much as our first two albums combined, which was not bad considering such a small label and limited distrubution in stores... What's your religious views? Well for starters I've never claimed to be a Satanist or whatever, but at the same time I have some problems with Christianity...for the most part my belief system is more along the lines of Paganism, in a way...I mean it's kind of funny to try and answer a question like that over [instant messanger], I could write a book about it (laughs) (Laughs) Yeah I think religion is a crock of shit myself. Who are some new bands you are really into? Nowadays I mostly listen to alot of old-school stuff like VADER, GORGUTS, IMMOLATIONN, NECROPHOBIC, SUFFOCATION, stuff like that. As for newer bands, BLOODBATH, DECAPITATED, EXCOMMUNION...are some of my faves. Nice choices...ok last question, what's your view on downloading music on the internet? Put it this way - we have PESSIMIST Mp3s on our website, so you can download our songs and check it out!! We don't have a problem with that. I don't think it's right for people to bootleg/download entire albums, that's really ripping off the bands. So if you download a song you like, support the band and buy the CD damnit!!! Agreed 100%, any last comments? Just a metal hails to all the fans and their support!!! Check out the PESSIMIST website at www.pessimist.com or on myspace at www.myspace.com/pessimist.....Thanks for the killer interview, KEEP MUSIC EVIL!!!! |
