  What Heroes Gave

Each donned their uniform to be
  Defenders of our liberty

Their mission sure, their spirits bright
Guard freedom's home, be brave to fight

One final day each faced their call
Each gave their best enduring all

We'll never know what they went through
But know they loved this country true

Deep down inside we should all feel
What heroes gave, their cost so real

We must stay thankful, grateful of
The gift of freedom through their love

Their loved ones bore the gravest pain
What we can't know, some now sustain

To God I pray their pain will cease
And each will find long-lasting peace

Remember this from year to year
What heroes gave - shan't disappear

We'll never let their special day
Their time for honor slip away

These brave fought for a nation free
If not for them, where would we be?

One Thousand Years

One thousand years, becomes one day
One last hurrah, one last hooray

We live our life, by what we know
This passing time, should help us grow

God watches us, along our route
To see if we, live by our truth

Some die too young, we all agree
But what we are, is all we see

We're judged by time, spent in each day
To help or hurt, it's all our way

We can't control a thousand years
But faith and love, can fold our fears

This life we live, is made of choice
Rise up first day, to just rejoice

You'll love some words, which sound so dear
'Good will to all, Happy New Year'

And now I'll say, farewell to all
Please frame this work, our curtain call

  Mother

A Mother's love, is sure to find
A way to comfort, ease your mind

She knows just how, to build you up
When you're so down, and can't look up

You love the way, she makes you feel
Like you're so special, her ideal

Her thought must start, with God above
To bring such caring, with such love

And as it flows, like gentle rain
It surely helps, when troubles pain

The love from mine, is oh so clear
I only wish, she was still here

Her warming glow, is missed each day
  Even though, I seldom say

But she did leave, her gift behind
To help me through, when I may pine

And that's the feel, known deep inside
Her faith and love, I still confide

  Dedicated to my Mother Stella
Of This Nation

Grand flag of this nation, in freedom flies
Hued red, white, and blue, capturing eyes
The brave of this nation, marching by row
Determined in mission, each foe shall know
Our way has survived, because of their will
Don't ever forget, this fact you should drill
Take life at this moment, hold memories firm
For lessons well learned, should be long-term
Be proud of this nation, do well by your days
Hold God in your vision, don't live in a maze
Take love from the heart, do spread it today
Such wealth held inside, is cause for dismay
Stay mindful of those who put all on the line
Support them, do help them, don't be off-line
God Bless all fine people, good deeds they do
Hold on to what's right, a great point of view
