This Little Light of Mine
This little light of mine is a familiar song that I've heard since
my childhood. I recall singing these words and thinking this  was  really a nice sounding song. The years have  illuminated these words and allowed me to experience their real meaning. The lyrics are simple, but the meaning is has a tremendous amount of weight.  This little light of mine I'm going to let it shine.
Letting your light shine takes committment and dedication to God.. As Christians the light that shines from us is a reflection of the Lord Jesus Christ. His love in us shines and men see the light. They are able to follow the rays and find their way out of the darkness. We are like the moon. It has no light of its own, but reflects the  light  of the sun. We  as Christians have no light of our own. We reflect the light of the S-O-N. His light illuminates the dark places in our lives and we are able to do as the scriptures command us. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
His  light  makes us  say and  do the things that  we know are right. When we would normally  lie, steal, or cheat  we are stopped by the light . The things  that we  once did in the darkness  are  revealed by  the  light. Thank Jesus, for I'm sure  there are many  sinful deeds that His light in
us has kept us from doing.
Jesus' light  radiates  from us and  the glare  is blinding. It drives away  the darkness  of  sin. The beams are  so powerful  until  those who know us often wonder what is it  about us that makes us so different. It's the light of Jesus  shining through us. We have to  make up  our mind to allow His light to shine in our lives. It is a decision that has to be made on an individual basis.
I made up my mind to let this little light of mine shine. It is my desire  to help those who don't know Jesus to  experience the light. As I
go through each day it is my  prayer  that He would continue to light up
my  life. I am so glad that I realized that He was truly the light of my life. It is so awesome just knowing that without His light that I too would be walking in darkness. The thought is chilling to me. It serves as motivation for me to strive harder to bring others out of darkness. I  know  that just as  a moth is  drawn to the light  so are we as Christians. We are drawn to the light of Jesus. We must allow Him to shine through us to draw others to the light also.
My final thought is something that each of us needs to ponder. It came to me in the form of a question. The question is extremely powerful and profound. Is your light shining so that men can see it, and find their way out of the darkness of sin? If not then it is my prayer that you make an immediate decision to correct it. Do whatever you need to do to clean up your smokey lamp, and allow your light to shine brightly. May your light and mine shine so others will be able to follow it to Christ.

Prayer: Lord help us as we endeavor to allow the light of Jesus to shine into the lives of others. May we be ever mindful that the souls of those in darkness  are at stake. Guide us as we seek others using your word, your name, and your Holy Spirit to be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Strenghten all who are laboring in your vineyard. Continue to allow us to let these little lights shine,
and together may they light the way for sinners throughout this entire world. In the Mighty name of Jesus I pray. Amen
