Serena sat on the ground in the forest surrounding the palace. Leaning against a tree she opened a book but she couldn't concentrate for today Darien and his guards were coming home after four years of schooling.She wondered if they changed for Darien had written letters but she hadn't really talk to him.Would he look different?Perhaps he would be more better looking than ever.At least one of them would be. Serena in four years had grown quite tall and slim.All her baby fat had melted off her face showing her fine bone structure.She looked young however like a fine porcelain doll.Serena kept that hidden behind her glasses which she wore a lot more though she had no need for them.Sure she was plain but it nobody seemed to mind except for her.Her family and friends loved unconditionally but she still had zero confidence.What would happen when Princess Raye,Darien's cousin came?The queen had said Raye was a burgundy haired beauty and the other princesses were also gorgeous.When they came no one would probably talk to her. It wasn't like she didn't blend,she just blended in TOO much. The noise of horses whining and a carriage drew her out of her thoughts.Standing up she began to run towards the palace and through the halls until she reach the door.Opening the door she ran into the waiting arms of Darien. "You're back!",she said and hugged him tightly.He responded by hugging her just as tight.Darien had grown even more better looking.His face had finely shaped features and his sea blue eyes radiate happiness towards the young girl in his arms.He had grown tall with broad shoulders and a muscular body."And you're so handsome!" "You're not so bad yourself",he responded.Behind the glasses he saw a pair of lovely teal eyes that glowed and a creamy complexion to match.A matured body peek through her baggy clothing. "Stop teasing!",she said indignantly and when to hug the other guards. They too had grown muscular and good-looking.*All of them have grown good looking*,she thought sadly.It looked like she was the ugly duckling of the pond."How was school?" "School",said Darien and put his arm around her as they walked into the house.A warthm had spread within and made something in her flutter."I think I got even better in fighting than you have" "No one is as good as Serena",Neftlye said as they sat in the library."Or would you like her to punch you in the jaw again to prove it!" Everyone laughed and in spite of himself so did Darien. "Darien",Jedite said."Is it true you Cousin Raye is coming tommorrow?" "Yeah",he said and smiled."I haven't seen her in ages!" "I heard that her friends were really hot",Zoisite said excitedly and thought pervertedly of the long legged princesses. "Pace yourself!",Said Malachite laughing at his friend who sat there rubbing his hands together in thought.Serena glanced at them sadly soon they would be in the company of four godesses and where would she be in this?*Alone*,she thought sadly. ************************** As she sat in the drawing room Serena concentrated on the painting before her not at all noticing the figure sneaking up on her. Suddenly two hands grabbed her shoulders and she screamed. Falling off her chair she saw Darien laughing at her. "That hurt you know",she said and sat on the chair once again as she acknowledged the painting before her.Holding the paint brush she stroked the canvas with a shade of dark blue."What do you want?" "Can't a guy see his friend?",he asked and took her hand helping with her brush stroke."It'll look more dramatic like this". Serena practically jumped at his touch and coughed loudly. "Thanks for the pointer",Serena said and pushed her glasses up. "It's a beautiful portrait",he complimented.The picture was of a young girl and her mother.The two sat on the bed and looking sadly at each other.The older woman was majestic beauty with her long silver hair in two buns on the top of her head. A crown adorned her head and her delicate profile made her look strong but kind.In the woman's hands was a small necklace ,he couldn't exactly make the shape out of it.The young girl looked similar to her mother but her long blond hair went straight down her back and her big baby blues reflected an innocent sadness. "The beauty doesn't matter",she said pointedly."The feeling you get from it is what matters".She looked at him wistfully making her sigh. "But you wouldn't get the feeling without the beauty",he remarked and sucked in her breath.She was trying hard not to cry for at that moment she realized something.She was in love with Darien. Perhaps she had always but right now it had collided into her body. In a rush of feelings so deeply felt it hurt like a thousand knives cutting her up."Perhaps it doesn't matter".With that comment he left. "But it does",she whispered in a broken voice.Tears ran down her face for she knew she'd never be the beauty he wanted. "It matters to you,my prince" ******************************* Serena stood by Darien and his four friends as the carriage of the Princesses rolled up.A footman opened the door and took the hand of a pretty young girl with long mahagony hair that went down to her butt.Her dark violet eyes held a fire in them and her long legs complimented her slim sexy figure.After came a chocolate haired girl with emerald green eyes.Her figure was boyish but seductive on her earlobes were pink rose earrings.Next came a tall blond girl with a beautiful smile and enchanting blue eyes.Following her a intelligent looking blue haired girl with kind eyes.Each girl smiled at Serena nicely.They liked the thought of a new girl to the group.*She could use a makeover*,thought Raye but she liked the kindly looking girl.After hugging her cousin and greeting the guards she shook Serena's hand firmly. "Serena,it's nice to meet you",she said and smiled at her.The girl had a glow around and something told Raye that this girl was of great importance."You have a bright aura around you",she commented and Serena gave her a confused look. "Oh stop it Raye",the blond said."I'm Mina,Princess of Venus. Don't bother with what she says.Raye's into all that mumbo jumbo stuff" "Actually",the blue haired said quietly."That practice is famous in many parts of the world.I'm Ami" The girl noticed that Serena wore reading glasses."You read a lot?" "Yeah,but I love to ride horses too",Serena answered and the tall brunette spoke. "Finally someone who actually ride and doesn't freak out if the horse get whiny!",exclaimed Lita and introduced herself."You don't ride sidesaddle like they do,do you?" "Oh no",she responded."Racing with Darien wouldn't be fun if I did" "She also has one hell of a fist",Darien said. "Of course she does",added Malachite."After all she did kick your ass" Everyone laughed as Darien chased Malachite around the front yard. *This was turning out to be a good day after all*,Serena said and smiled. ***************************** As she had found brothers in Darien and the guards,Serena found sisters in the four princesses.They had sleepovers in Raye's quarters' and talk endlessly in the gardens.That particular day the group of ten decided to go swimming in the lake but Serena was intent on staying on dry ground. "Come on Serena",Raye said pulling her towards the lake. Serena screamed in protest and the other laughed at the two fighting at edge of the lake."You could at least put on your swimsuit. "I don't have one",she answered which was a total lie.She had just purposely left it in her room so she wouldn't have to swim. "Well then wear your shorts and tank top",Lita said. "Serena please",Mina begged and gave her a puppy dog look and she couldn't resist her pretty pout. "Alright",she answered exasperated. "Well hurry up",Ami said and took off her shirt revealing a white bathing suit.She promptly put on a sky blue robe and a matching hat with a white flower on it.Ami began to wade along the shallow part of the lake and the other dived in leaving Serena.Darien and the four stood in shorts and white shirts looking at the cool lake.Serena slowly began to pull off her pants revealing a pair of long creamy legs. "Take a look at Serena",Neflyte said to Darien."She grew up a lot".They watched as Serena pulled off her oversized shirt revealing her blossomed chest. "When did she grow those?",asked Jedite and Darien whacked him in the ribs."Pretty nice". "She's not our little sister anymore",Zoisite remarked.Darien nodded watching her unravel her long braid revealing a wave of blond hair that went above her ankles."If she didn't wear glasses she wouldn't be that bad" *What's wrong with me?*,Darien thought.*Everytime I see her I feel weird*.There she stood in a crop top revealing her flat stomach and matching white shorts.And they were SHORT!Darien had to stop himself from the thoughts colliding in his head.These were not GOOD thoughts!Shaking his head slightly he ran to the water as the others followed.Serena walked slowly to the lake until Darien ran to her carried her to the middle of the water where he dropped a screaming Serena! "You are so in trouble!",she yelled and pushed his head into the water.They continued to splash around until Darien noticed something that made his eyes go wide.He pulled Serena down until the water reached her neck."What are you doing?!" "Serena",he began."You shouldn't have worn white" "Why?",she asked him. "You're...Um...showing...some...stuff",he stammered."In fact you're showing...all of your...stuff".He coughed and her eyes traveled downward to where her clothing reveal more than she wanted. "Oh no!",she answered in a panicked whisper."What am I gonna do?" Her face had turned tomato red.Luckily everyone was too busy to notice her distress."I have to get out of here!" "Don't worry Serena",he said calmly.He put his arms around her from the back and told her to cross her arms over her chest."Now walk slowly towards the shore.From the back it'll look like we're only hugging" Slowly they began to walk which drew the others attention,the two were waddling like ducks out of the water and the fact that two have never been that close to each other. "What are you guys doing?",Jedite asked and the two blushed deep red. "Can't a guy give his friend a hug from the back",Darien said as he looked at his friend from behind his back. "Not when his friend has a great behind like that",Jedite whispered to Raye and she stifled a giggle.The two had reached the shore and Darien wrapped a towel around Serena.Rubbing the towel against her wet body it seemed as if an electricity went between them as he worked his way up until he abrubtly stopped at her chest. "I think I'll leave the rest to you",Darien said and cleared his throat. "Do you want me to stay with you?".There were face to face unaware of the group of people who were watching them.The sun was going down and the two looked rather picturesque in the setting.Suddenly a whistle came from the water and the two turned around to see their friends smiling slyly at them. "Hello?!",shouted Raye."Remember us?Your friends!Well we'd hate to break up this touching moment but maybe you should leave that to when you're alone" "Yeah",Malachite added."If you two are gonna pounce on each other do that when we're not here" "You better go back in",Serena suggested as she sat on a towel.Lying on her stomach she put a towel on her bottom to cover it but she failed to notice the opening in her shirt revealing her chest.Darien coughed loudly and pointed.Once again she had embarassed herself in front of Darien!She tooked the first thing she sould see which was a book and put it to her chest."I think you better go before I die of embaressment" Darien smiled and turned around going into the water but occasionally glancing at the girl in glasses.Who was slapping her hand against her head!*Stupid,Stupid,Stupid!*How could she wear white shorts!I wasn't thinking again!Gosh,I'm turning into a real airhead! ************************** Queen Gaia summoned the ten into her room and announced that a dance would be held in honor of the arrival of the princesses and the return of the prince.Everyone rejoiced except for Serena who knew she wouldn't have a chance to go.After all her parents were servants and if she did go it'd probably be because she was serving or something.Darien noticed the left out look on her face.Walking to the Queen he looked at her and made her look at Serena ready to leave the room.Giving her a pleading look the queen nodded. "Serena",the Queen called and Serena turned around."Don't think you're getting out of this a girl of sixteen should be going to her first dance and that's exactly what you're doing" "But Your majesty",Serena said."I'm no royalty or close to it at all" "No you're not",she answered."You're much more than that.You're like my own daughter so this my present to you" "Thank you",said Serena with tears in her eyes.Walking to the queen she hugged the woman tightly. "Come on Serena",Ami said."We've got work to do!" "Yeah",Mina said."You could borrow one of my dresses!"With that the girls were up the stairs closing the doors of Raye's room behind them. ************************* "So Darien",Malachite said."Who are you escorting to the dance" "Well I thought my mother expected me to escort Raye in",he said and a grinned went on Jedite's face,he had an idea!Winking to the others he turned to Darien. "Actually",Jedite said."I kind of escorting Raye already" "Well",he said non-chalantly."I'll escort one of the others" Then all of the guards suddenly claimed they were taking one of the Princesses leaving Serena the only one unescorted."I'll take Serena then".Inside of him Darien was panicking for no reason at all.This was his friend after all!He hadn't even asked her.Suddenly he had idea how to... *********************** "I'm can't fit into that!",Serena said looking at the dress Mina held up to show her. "And why not?",Mina asked sharply."You'll look great!" "Let just say I don't have the packaging for it",said Serena.Ami came up to Serena and removed her glasses. "Tonight,You're not wearing these",Ami commanded."After all you can see without them just fine" "No I can't!",she argued which was total bull for she could perfect without them.She just didn't want anyone to see her face. "Serena I'm gonna let down your hair",Lita said and began unraveling the braided coil on her head.As she did a waterfall of blonde hair fell to the ground.All of them crowded around her in looked in the mirror in front of Serena.They looked at each other in agreement. She had definite potential.A knock on the door interuppted them and a young maid came in holding a big box tied with a red ribbon.A rose was entwined in the ribbon. "For Lady Serena",the maid said and handed her the box.The girls crowded and Serena shooed them away.When they were far enough so they couldn't see Serena opened the envelope to see a calligraphy written note: Dear Serena, Enclosed is something for you to enjoy.It's white so I suggest you don't use this in water!(Serena smiled at their private joke) I'll be waiting for you at the bottom of the staircase so until then I look forward to seeing you.                                                 Your Prince,                                                       Darien Laughing she placed the note aside and let the girls gather around. As she opened the box they gasped.Inside laid a shimmering silk dress a color of crystals.It was tight on the chest and flowed down to the ground with spaghetti straps to hold it up.The others looked in awe as Serena looked on wide eyes. "Oh God",she said and shook her head."I can't possibly wear this!" "Of course you can",said Raye and put her arm around Serena."You'll be such a peach in it" "Yeah",agreed Mina."With the right accesories and makeup it'll be perfect" "Not to mention me and Ami doing your hair",Lita added. "Somehow even if I protest you'll do it anyways",Serena said exaperated and sighed."Okay let's do it" "Serena",Ami began with a sweet smile."How do you feel about cutting your hair?" "Oh No....",moaned Serena. ************************** Darien,Jedite,Neflyte,Zoisite,and Malachite stood at the bottom of the stairs in Black Tuxedos.Ami came first in a sleeveless blue satin dress than flowed to the ground,Next came Raye in a burgundy off the shoulder dress with red flowers around her chest,After that came Mina in a strapless yellow gown that went up to her ankles two slits on the side and in her hair a yallow daffodil,Last came Lita in a jade colored dress similar to Mina's accept around her neck was a matching scarf going down her neck. "Presenting",Raye began."The new and improved Serena!".They all looked up and no one came down the stairs."Serena!",Raye yelled and once more no one came."Serena get down here before I yank you down the stairs!"
